        Spatial Narrative and Diasporic Conscious in Kingston’s China Men and I Love a Broad Margin to My Life

        As an influential contemporary Chinese American writer, Kingston addresses the notions of diasporic identity and consciousness regarding her family and her own physical and psychological experiences of commuting between homeland and hostland, which are necessarily defined by specific arrangements of spatial form and spatial content. A literary work is no doubt a dynamic mechanism ignited by the writer’s creative motivation, the textual narrative design and the reader’s response, and the motif must be reflected in the textual expression. Kingston initially made significant contributions to the formation of the modern Chinese American narrative modes and has focused more on poetic writing later in her career. Her 2011 poetry collection, I Love a Broad Margin to My Life, is an inheritance of her early diasporic advocacy in a new age. This paper explores Kingston’s diasporic consciousness from the perspective of spatial narrative in her China Men and I Love a Broad Margin to My Life, in an effort to track Kingston’s changes of diasporic consciousness from “claim(ing) America” to transnationalism.

        음식관광 온라인구전정보특성이 신뢰, 구전수용, 행동의도에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study is to find out the effect that online word-of-mouth has on the reliability, acceptance of word-of-mouth and behavior intentions of tourists. A survey was conducted on tourists who used online word-of-mouth information in consuming or purchasing food, visiting venues where food is made or observing or learning how food is made in a different region. To secure reliability of the survey, online word-of-mouth that was used within the past one week was considered at the time of the survey. The survey was conducted from September 1 to October 1, 2017 and the findings based on the empirical analysis were as follows. First, of the characteristics of online word-of-mouth, usefulness had the biggest positive effect on reliability, followed by liveliness, entertainment value and agreeability. Interaction had a negative effect on reliability. Second, reliability had a positive effect on acceptance of word-of-mouth. Third, reliability had a positive effect on behavioral intentions. This indicates a higher level of reliability is correlated with a higher degree of behavioral intentions. Lastly, an analysis of the relationship between acceptance of word-of-mouth and behavioral intentions showed that former had a positive effect on the latter. Based on the results, managerial implications and limitations of the study were discussed.

      • Structure and Performance Characteristics of Saturated Iron-core Superconducting Fault Current Limiter

        Superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) is a kind of short-circuit current limiting device for power grid. It's a new application of superconducting technology on power equipments. Saturated Iron-core Superconducting fault current limiter (SISFCL) is one of many types of SFCL. It takes the advantage that no quenching occurs in superconducting wires during fault current limiting process. The immediately reacting and fast recovering are also its main characteristics. The structure and function of SISFCL is similar to that of traditional transformer and current limiting reactor respectively. Based on mature technologies on design and manufacture of iron core and windings of transformers, SISFCL could be made at the same voltage level as traditional transformers. But there are also significant differences between them. SISFCL will offer an effective solution to limit short-circuit current in future HV or EHV power systems because of its peculiar structures and properties. In this paper, we introduce the structure and characteristics of the SISFCL developed by Innopower. It may help readers to understand SISFCL and its enormous application value for power grids.

        Effects of sleep deprivation on coronary heart disease

        The presence of artificial light enables humans to be active 24 h a day. Many people across the globe live in a social culture that encourages staying up late to meet the demands of various activities, such as work and school. Sleep deprivation (SD) is a severe health problem in modern society. Meanwhile, as with cardiometabolic disease, there was an obvious tendency that coronary heart disease (CHD) to become a global epidemic chronic disease. Specifically, SD can significantly increase the morbidity and mortality of CHD. However, the underlying mechanisms responsible for the effects of SD on CHD are multilayered and complex. Inflammatory response, lipid metabolism, oxidative stress, and endothelial function all contribute to cardiovascular lesions. In this review, the effects of SD on CHD development are summarized, and SD-related pathogenesis of coronary artery lesions is discussed. In general, early assessment of SD played a vital role in preventing the harmful consequences of CHD. The causes of poor sleep hygiene can include alcohol use, stimulant intake (including caffeine), and excessive Internet usage, as well as disease states, such as sleep apnea, which prevent individuals from acquiring adequate sleep duration and quality [1-8]. At the same time, shift work (e.g., night shifts) can change workers' sleep patterns, leading to emotional impulsiveness, reduced cognitive ability, diminished processing efficiency, and impaired executive function [9-15]. Further, shift workers have been shown to be at greater risk for the development of metabolic disorders and cardiovascular disease (CVD) [16-23].         Similarity measurement of the geometry variation sequence of intermediate process model

        The reuse of machining process, by which the process for a new mechanical part is determined by referencing to the existing and matured processes, is an effective way of improving manufacturing and supporting innovation. To conduct the effective reuse, it is necessary to express and retrieve a specific process. A kernel technique of the expression and the retrieval is to measure the similarity of part’s geometry variation during the machining. To address this problem, a general framework of measuring the similarity between parts is proposed in this work. The geometry variation sequence of intermediate process model was established, and then a method to measure its similarity was invented. Two case studies are rendered and the result reveals that the proposed method is effective and can provide the support for the process retrieval and reuse in industry.

      • Silicon Interfacial Passivation Layer Chemistry for High-<i>k</i>/InP Interfaces

        <P>The interfacial chemistry of thin (1 nm) silicon (Si) interfacial passivation layers (IPLs) deposited on acid-etched and native oxide InP(100) samples prior to atomic layer deposition (ALD) is investigated. The phosphorus oxides are scavenged completely from the acid-etched samples but not completely from the native oxide samples. Aluminum silicate and hafnium silicate are possibly generated upon ALD and following annealing. The thermal stability of a high-<I>k</I>/Si/InP (acid-etched) stack are also studied by in situ annealing to 400 and 500 °C under ultrahigh vacuum, and the aluminum oxide/Si/InP stack is the most thermally stable.       • Realistic Metal–Graphene Contact Structures

        <P>The contact resistance of metal–graphene junctions has been actively explored and exhibited inconsistencies in reported values. The interpretation of these electrical data has been based exclusively on a <I>side</I>-contact model, that is, metal slabs sitting on a pristine graphene sheet. Using <I>in</I> <I>situ</I> X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to study the wetting of metals on as-synthesized graphene on copper foil, we show that side-contact is sometimes a misleading picture. For instance, metals like Pd and Ti readily react with graphitic carbons, resulting in Pd- and Ti-carbides. Carbide formation is associated with C–C bond breaking in graphene, leading to an <I>end</I>-contact geometry between the metals and the periphery of the remaining graphene patches.         China is leading the global fashion market value in 2023 with consumers experiencing an integration of traditional consumption and production approaches to innovative ones triggered by the internet of things (IoT). This high speed ‘inspire and sell’ consumer conversion approach (ibid) is both enabling fashion consumption and introducing alternative approaches to end of life items. This finds Chinese consumers on the top of the global fashion consumption ranks raising even more the importance of sustainable practices. On an industry level, the shortened fashion cycles, the changes in item longevity, the low prices and the fast-moving consumer trends have attributed to an increasing waste generation as consumers discard clothes more frequently. Increasingly, studies alert to the availability of alternative end of life fashion practices, such as, swapping, renting selling etc offering more choices in terms of reducing fashion waste. Yet research related to these efforts seem to have a national or regional perspective and approach and most of the studies are located and focused on western societies.

      • 留守儿童性侵害的预防教育探究

        儿童性侵害一直是一个备受社会关注的问题, 其中留守儿童更因其缺乏监护人的照看而面临着更大的风险。2023年8月教育部发布的教育统计数据显示, 2023年义务教育阶段农村留守儿童的数量是1550.56万。因此针对留守儿童性侵害的预防教育对于学校和社会来说是一个应该关注的重大课题。 对儿童实施性侵害行为具有严重的社会危害性, 并且也具有刑事违法性, 给受害者的身体与心理都造成很大的伤害。针对儿童性侵害现象, 我们不仅应着眼于如何惩治犯罪, 更应该注重性侵害的预防教育, 防患于未然。中国目前有相对完善的刑法体系来惩治性侵犯罪, 但是在预防教育方面仍有所不足, 尤其在留守儿童的性侵害预防教育方面还有很大的发展空间。 性侵害预防教育同时也是全球范围的重要课题。怎样正确地教育儿童看待性和性侵害, 怎样在缺失家长监护的情况下教育好孩子正确处理此类风险更是一个挑战。性侵害预防教育是性教育的一个分支, 本文将试从学校角度探究对于留守儿童性侵害的预防教育, 从根源减少性侵害的风险。 Child sexual abuse has always been a major concern in society, and left-behind children are at greater risk due to their lack of guardian care. According to education statistics released by the Ministry of Education in August 2023, the number of left-behind children in rural areas in compulsory education in 2023 is 15,505,600. Therefore, the prevention of sexual abuse of left-behind children is a major issue that schools and society should pay attention to. Sexual abuse of children is a serious social hazard and a criminal offense, causing great physical and psychological harm to the victim. In response to the phenomenon of child sexual abuse, we should not only focus on how to punish the crime, but also pay attention to the prevention and education of sexual abuse, so as to prevent it from occurring. At present, China has a relatively complete criminal law system to punish sexual assault crimes, but there are still some deficiencies in prevention education, especially in the prevention of sexual assault education for left-behind children. Sexual assault prevention education is also an important issue on a global scale. It is a challenge to properly educate children about sexual and sexual assault, and how to properly handle such risks in the absence of parental supervision. Sexual assault prevention education is a branch of sex education, and this paper will try to explore the prevention education of sexual abuse of left-behind children from the perspective of schools.

        The mutation of Scenedesmus obliquus grown in municipal wastewater by laser combined with ultraviolet

        Mutagenetic breeding is an efficient technique for the enhancement of lipid productivity from microalgae. In this study, oil-rich microalga Scenedesmus obliquus were treated by Laser-UV composite mutagenesis. Among the 35 mutant strains, X5 was primely screened. Afterwards, a twice UV mutagenizing was operated on X5, and the optimal mutant strain X5-H13 was obtained. The growth rate, dry weight, lipid yield and lipid content of X5-H13 were 0.698× 107 cells/mL·d, 0.99 g/L, 0.49 g/L and 48.8% while cultivated in municipal wastewater, respectively, which were increased by 45%, 58%, 109% and 32% than the original strain. The results of the subculture of repeated mutant showed that the biomass and lipid content of strain X5-H13 were up to 0.99 g/L and 48.8%. The growth of each generation was stable. Furthermore, the random amplified polymorphic DNA analysis indicated that the mutant strain X5-H13 was different from the starting strain, with their genetic similarity coefficient value of 0.815.
