Asymptotic Behavior Analysis of a Heat Equation Coupled with a Fractional Ordinary Differential System

        Mimi Hou,Xuan-Xuan Xi,Xian-Feng Zhou 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2022 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.20 No.10

This paper considers the existence, uniqueness and the asymptotic behavior of a classic heat equation coupled with a fractional ordinary differential system. By the Lumer-Phillips theorem, we obtain the existence and uniqueness of the solution. Furthermore, we use a new Lyapunov functional to show the global attractivity for the considered system, then the tractable global attractive conditions are obtained. Finally, numerical examples are provided to illustrate the applications of our results.

Progressive Collapse Mechanism Analysis of Concrete-Filled Square Steel Tubular Column to Steel Beam Joint with Bolted–Welded Hybrid Connection

        Wang Jing-Xuan,Yang Yong,Xian Wei,Li Qiu-Ying 한국강구조학회 2020 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.20 No.5

When vertical load-bearing members of building structures are subjected to accidental loadings, such as an earthquake, fi re or explosion, the remaining structure chiefl y relies on the beam mechanism and catenary mechanism of the steel beam as the main resistance capacity, to prevent local or large-scale progressive collapse. This paper presents a three-dimensional fi nite element model of concrete-fi lled square steel tubular (CFST) column to steel beam joint with bolted–welded hybrid connection in a middle-column-removal scenario using ABAQUS software. The multi-scale modeling method was employed to calculate the collapse resistance and mechanism under vertical load. The vertical displacement and bearing capacity curve of the middle failure column was calculated and analyzed. The collapse mechanism and bearing capacity contribution of the steel beam tying in diff erent directions are also discussed. Results indicate that the failure mechanism of the process includes the beam mechanism, the translation mechanism, the catenary mechanism and the failure stage. After the short-span steel beam had been destroyed, the long-span steel beam continued to provide collapse resistance capacity. To improve progressive collapse resistance, the CFST column to steel beam joint with welded haunch is proposed in this paper. Comparing the anti-collapse bearing capacity and failure characteristics of the joint with the welded haunch and common joint indicates that the anti-collapse capacity of the joint with welded haunch can be improved, and the research results can be referenced for engineering progressive collapse design.

Preparation and Properties of Green Environment-Friendly Drilling Polymer Mud

        Zhang, Feng-Jun,Sun, Xian-Yang,Li, Xuan,Kong, Cui,Liu, Jin,Chen, Qian-Bao,Oh, Won-Chun Materials Research Society of Korea 2019 한국재료학회지 Vol.29 No.11

In this paper, a water-based green polymer mud is synthesized by simple compounding method. Effects of different kinds of tackifiers, their molecular weight on the viscosity of polymer mud and the effects of different fluid loss additives on mud fluid loss are studied. The results show that when polystyrene and anionic polyacrylamide with molecular weight of 8 ~ 10 million are used as the main thickening ingredient, polymer mud with high viscosity and high stability can be obtained. When the prepared polymer mud is formulated as NPAM: PEO: Hydroxypropyl cellulose(HPC) : Water = 42:10:10:100000 (unit: kg), the viscosity can reach 20.6 s, the filtration loss in 7.5 min is 24 mL, and the sand content is only 0.1 %. Compared with traditional bentonite mud, the green environment-friendly polymer mud has the advantages of small amount of waste, low environmental pollution, and low pulping cost, and can meet the construction needs for most topography and geomorphology drilling engineering.

Knockdown of the olfactory co-receptor Orco impairsmate recognition in Tenebrio molitor (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

        Xiao-Ming Liu,Bang-Xian Zhang,Shi-Guang Li,Xiang-Jun Rao,Dong-MingWang,Xiao-Xuan Hu,Su Liu 한국응용곤충학회 2016 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.19 No.2

The yellow mealworm beetle, Tenebrio molitor (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae), is a common insect pest that damages stored grain. The insect olfactory co-receptor (Orco) is a transmembrane protein localized on the surface of the dendrites of olfactory sensory neurons and plays an essential role in the olfactory perception. In this study, an Orco ortholog (named as Tmol\Orco) inT.molitorwas characterized. The deduced amino acid sequence of Tmol\Orco shared significant high identities with Orcos in other insect species from distinct Orders. Reverse transcription quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) analysis showed that Tmol\Orco was predominantly expressed in the antennae of both male and female adults, and the difference between male antennae and female antennae was not significant. Double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) directly against the Tmol\Orco mRNA was synthesized and injected into the T. molitor male adults, RT-qPCR results demonstrated that the transcription level of Tmol\Orco was significantly reduced at 6 d after the injection. The mate-seeking behavior of Tmol\Orco-silenced beetles was significantly inhibited. Compare to the control individuals, the percentage of Tmol\Orco-silenced beetles successfully find mateswas significantly decreased and the average time they spent for searching were significantly increased. These results provided first direct evidence that suppression of Tmol\Orco transcription contributes to the decline in mate recognition of T. molitor

Induction of Apoptosis in Human Hepatoma SMMC-7721 Cells using 2',4'-Dihydroxy-6'-methoxy-3',5'-dimethylchalcone, a Chalcone from Buds of Cleistocalyx operculatus

        Chun-Lin Ye,Xuan-Gan Liu,Qi Huang,Xian-Liang Zhao 한국식품과학회 2013 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.22 No.5

The molecular mechanism to induce apoptosis in human hepatoma SMMC-7721 cells was investigated using 2',4'-Dihydroxy-6'-methoxy-3',5'-dimethylchalcone (DMC) isolated from the buds of Cleistocalyx operculatus. Typical morphological changes in apoptotic body formation after DMC treatment were observed using acridine orange (AO)/ethidium bromide (EB) staining. After 48 h of incubation with 0, 6.25, 12.5, and 25 μM of DMC, the percentages of annexin V-FITC-positive/PI negative cells were 1.51, 9.33, 33.84, and 61.32%, respectively. Apoptosis induced by DMC was blocked by z-VAD-fmk, a caspase inhibitor. Analysis of fluorescence intensities of rhodamine 123 in cells showed that DMC induced a loss of mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm). Western blot results showed that DMC decreased the Bcl-2/Bax ratio, suggesting that the Bcl-2 family is involved in control of apoptosis. All of these signal transduction pathways are involved in initiating apoptosis. DMC is a potential anticancer agent that deserves further exploration.

Synthesis and Characterization of MoS2/Graphene-TiO2 Ternary Photocatalysts for High-Efficiency Hydrogen Production under Visible Light

        Zhang, Feng-Jun,Kong, Cui,Li, Xuan,Sun, Xian-Yang,Xie, Wen-Jie,Oh, Won-Chun The Korean Ceramic Society 2019 한국세라믹학회지 Vol.56 No.3

Ternary MoS2/graphene (G)-TiO2 photocatalysts were prepared by a simple hydrothermal method. The morphology, phase structure, band gap, and catalytic properties of the prepared samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, UV-vis spectrophotometry, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area measurement. The H2 production efficiency of the prepared catalysts was tested in methanol-water mixture under visible light. MoS2/G-TiO2 exhibited the highest activity for photocatalytic H2 production. For 5 wt.% and 1 wt.% MoS2 and graphene (5MT-1G), the production rate of H2 was as high as 1989 µmol-1h-1. The catalyst 5MT-1G showed H2 production activity that was ~ 11.3, 5.6, and 4.1 times higher than those of pure TiO2, 1GT, and 5MT, respectively. The unique structure and morphology of the MoS2/G-TiO2 photocatalyst contributed to its improved hydrogen production efficiency under visible light.

        Li Xiying,Li Xiaojuan,Wang Xian,Yin Xuan,Li Shanshan,Wu Junyi,Ren Xiumei,Zhang Wei,Mi Yiqun,Xu Shifen 한국한의학연구원 2023 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.12 No.3

Background: We conducted this randomized controlled trial (RCT) to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of moxibustion at Sanyinjiao (SP6) acupoint for treatment of negative mood and sleep quality in healthcare workers during the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Methods: A total of 180 participants were divided in a 1:1 ratio into two groups, the treatment group (for moxibustion) and the control group (for no treatment). The treatment group had a 30-minute moxibustion therapy once a day for two weeks, followed by a two-week follow-up. The Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) was used to assess the degree of the participants' anxiety, and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) was utilized to examine their depressed condition. The Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey (MBI-GS) was used to measure the level of burnout among healthcare workers. To determine the severity of insomnia, the Sleep Dysfunction Rating Scale (SDRS) was utilized. At baseline, week 2, and week 4, all scales were evaluated. Results: Compared to the control group, The treatment group improved more significantly in the HAMA at week 2 (MD = -19.01, 95% CI: -21.89 to -16.14; P<0.001) and at week 4 follow-up visits (MD = -8.96, 95% CI: -11.19 to -6.73; P<0.001). A subgroup study of HAMA scores revealed that position and education had significant impact on treatment effectiveness. During the 2-week intervention period, the treatment group showed more significant improvements in depressive symptoms measured by PHQ-9 (13.00±2.41 vs. 15.60±3.65; P<0.001), work burnout symptoms measured by MBI-GS (MD = -11.88, 95% CI, -15.73 to -8.03; P<0.001), and insomnia symptoms measured by SDRS (MD = -2.45, 95% CI, -4.24 to -0.66; P<0.01). There were no significant adverse effects reported. Conclusion: Moxibustion at SP6 may be an effective treatment to improve anxiety, depression, sleep quality, and quality of life for healthcare workers during COVID-19.

A Dynamic Modeling Approach to Simulate Groundwater Discharges into a Tunnel from Typical Heterogenous Geological Media During Continuing Excavation

        Qiang Xia,Mo Xu,Han Zhang,Qiang Zhang,Xian-xuan Xiao 대한토목학회 2018 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.22 No.1

Most of the analytical and numerical models of tunnel groundwater inflow ignore the excavation process, leading to inaccurate prediction of discharge rate. A dynamic modeling approach was introduced by redevelopment of MODFLOW to simulate the change of groundwater flow step by step in accord with tunnel excavation. The drilling tunnel was conceptualized as a changing boundary condition, which was modeled by dividing the drilling process into a series of successive steps. The impact of permeability heterogeneity on groundwater flow was studied through a comparison between a homogeneous hydraulic conductivity case and a synthetic heterogeneous one. It was found that the discharge rate at drilling front kept stable in the homogeneous case, resulting in a linear increase in the total discharge rate, similar to the analytical solution by Perrochet (2005). In contrast, the front and total discharge rate were influenced significantly by the variability of permeability in the heterogeneous case. The time-dependent discharge rate at a given place was subject to an exponential decay for both cases with the maximum inflow occuring at the beginning of excavation. The relationship between discharge rate and hydraulic properties was further investigated in a high-K zone. It revealed that maximum discharge rate was proportional to hydraulic conductivity (K) and specific storage (Ss). The decaying rate of discharge was time-dependent and also proportional to the value of K and Ss. The water budget analysis demonstrated that water released from storage of the high-K zone was the major source of tunnel discharge at early times.

Recent advances of bioactive proteins/polypeptides in the treatment of breast cancer

        Qi-Zhang Li,Ze-Rong Zhou,Cui-Yu Hu,Xian-Bin Li,Yu-Zhou Chang,Yan Liu,Yu-Liang Wang,Xuan-Wei Zhou 한국식품과학회 2023 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.32 No.3

Proteins do not only serve as nutrients to fulfill the demand for food, but also are used as a source of bioactive proteins/polypeptides for regulating physical functions and promoting physical health. Female breast cancer has the highest incidence in the world and is a serious threat to women’s health. Bioactive proteins/polypeptides exert strong anti-tumor effects and exhibit inhibition of multiple breast cancer cells. This review discussed the suppressing effects of bioactive proteins/polypeptides on breast cancer in vitro and in vivo, and their mechanisms of migration and invasion inhibition, apoptosis induction, and cell cycle arrest. This may contribute to providing a basis for the development of bioactive proteins/polypeptides for the treatment of breast cancer.
