14-3-3ζ Regulates Immune Response through Stat3 Signaling in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Xinguang Han,Yongfu Han,Huifeng Jiao,Yaqiong Jie 한국분자세포생물학회 2015 Molecules and cells Vol.38 No.2
Ectopic expression of 14-3-3ζ has been found in various malignancies, including lung cancer, liver cancer, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), and so on. However, the effect of 14-3-3ζ in the regulation of interactions between tumor cells and the immune system has not been previously reported. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether and how 14-3-3ζ is implicated in tumor inflammation modulation and immune recognition evasion. In oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) cell lines and cancer tissues, we found that 14-3-3ζ is overexpressed. In OSCC cells, 14-3-3ζ knockdown resulted in the up-regulated expression of inflammatory cytokines. In contrast, 14-3-3ζ introduction attenuated cytokine expression in human normal keratinocytes and fibroblasts stimulated with interferon- ζ (IFN-ζ) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Furthermore, supernatants from 14-3-3ζ knockdown OSCC cells dramatically altered the response of peritoneal macrophages, dendritic cells and tumor-specific T cells. Interestingly, Stat3 was found to directly interact with 14-3-3ζ and its disruption relieved the inhibition induced by 14-3-3ζ in tumor inflammation. Taken together, our studies provide evidence that 14-3-3ζ may regulate tumor inflammation and immune response through Stat3 signaling in OSCC.
Local Similarity based Discriminant Analysis for Face Recognition
( Xinguang Xiang ),( Fan Liu ),( Ye Bi ),( Yanfang Wang ),( Jinhui Tang ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2015 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.9 No.11
Fisher linear discriminant analysis (LDA) is one of the most popular projection techniques for feature extraction and has been widely applied in face recognition. However, it cannot be used when encountering the single sample per person problem (SSPP) because the intra-class variations cannot be evaluated. In this paper, we propose a novel method called local similarity based linear discriminant analysis (LS_LDA) to solve this problem. Motivated by the “divide-conquer” strategy, we first divide the face into local blocks, and classify each local block, and then integrate all the classification results to make final decision. To make LDA feasible for SSPP problem, we further divide each block into overlapped patches and assume that these patches are from the same class. To improve the robustness of LS_LDA to outliers, we further propose local similarity based median discriminant analysis (LS_MDA), which uses class median vector to estimate the class population mean in LDA modeling. Experimental results on three popular databases show that our methods not only generalize well SSPP problem but also have strong robustness to expression, illumination, occlusion and time variation.

Ectopic expression of $14-3-3{\zeta}$ has been found in various malignancies, including lung cancer, liver cancer, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), and so on. However, the effect of $14-3-3{\zeta}$ in the regulation of interactions between tumor cells and the immune system has not been previously reported. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether and how $14-3-3{\zeta}$ is implicated in tumor inflammation modulation and immune recognition evasion. In oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) cell lines and cancer tissues, we found that $14-3-3{\zeta}$ is overexpressed. In OSCC cells, $14-3-3{\zeta}$ knockdown resulted in the up-regulated expression of inflammatory cytokines. In contrast, $14-3-3{\zeta}$ introduction attenuated cytokine expression in human normal keratinocytes and fibroblasts stimulated with interferon-${\gamma}$ (IFN-${\gamma}$) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Furthermore, supernatants from $14-3-3{\zeta}$ knockdown OSCC cells dramatically altered the response of peritoneal macrophages, dendritic cells and tumor-specific T cells. Interestingly, Stat3 was found to directly interact with $14-3-3{\zeta}$ and its disruption relieved the inhibition induced by $14-3-3{\zeta}$ in tumor inflammation. Taken together, our studies provide evidence that $14-3-3{\zeta}$ may regulate tumor inflammation and immune response through Stat3 signaling in OSCC.

Beluga whale optimization (BWO) algorithm is a recently proposed population intelligence algorithm. Inspired by the swimming, foraging, and whale falling behaviors of beluga whale populations, it shows good competitive performance compared to other state-of-the-art algorithms. However, the original BWO faces the challenges of unbalanced exploration and exploitation, premature stagnation of iterations, and low convergence accuracy in high-dimensional complex applications. Aiming at these challenges, a hybrid BWO based on the jellyfish search optimizer (HBWO-JS), which combines the vertical crossover operator and Gaussian variation strategy with a fusion of jellyfish search (JS) optimizer, is developed for solving global optimization in this paper. First, the BWO algorithm is fused with the JS optimizer to improve the problem that BWO tends to fall into the best local solution and low convergence accuracy in the exploitation stage through multi-stage exploration and collaborative exploitation. Then, the introduced vertical cross operator solves the problem of unbalanced exploration and exploitation processes by normalizing the upper and lower bounds of two stochastic dimensions of the search agent, thus further improving the overall optimization capability. In addition, the introduced Gaussian variation strategy forces the agent to explore the minimum neighborhood, extending the entire iterative search process and thus alleviating the problem of premature stagnation of the algorithm. Finally, the superiority of the proposed HBWO-JS is verified in detail by comparing it with basic BWO and eight state-of-the-art algorithms on the CEC2019 and CEC2020 test suites, respectively. Also, the scalability of HBWO-JS is evaluated in three dimensions (10D, 30D, 50D), and the results show the stable performance of the proposed algorithm in terms of dimensional scalability. In addition, three practical engineering designs and two Truss topology optimization problems demonstrate the practicality of HBWO-JS. The optimization results show that HBWO-JS has a strong competitive ability and broad application prospects.

OLD-AGE SUPPORT SYSTEM AND POLICY REFORM IN CHINA
GU, SHENGZU,ZHU, NONG,CHEN, XINGUANG,LIANG, JERSEY Institute for Social Development and Policy Resear 1995 Korea Journal of Population and Development Vol.24 No.2
With the on-going economic transition from the central planned system to a market-oriented system, the population aging process in China is also accelerating, and the support system for the elderly becomes an important issue demanding attention. With data from Chinese national statistics and a regional probability sampling survey in Wuhan Area, two supporting systems for the aged in China are examined in this paper. After a briefing of the population aging process in China, a detailed discussion of the two supporting systems, i.e. the formal and the informal support systems for the aged, including arrangement, operation and funding mechanisms of the systems, is made in terms of policy reform. Then follows and international comparison to highlight features and problems of the Chinese systems. Finally, solutions are proposed for the restructuring of China’s pension systems.

A discontinuous plastic flow is detected in a single-crystal superalloy with an [001] orientation during tensile tests over a wide temperature range. Results reveals that the synergistic impact of normal γ′ precipitates and nanoscale γ′ precipitates in γ matrix on the dislocations motion is the root of the serrated flow.
Creep Properties of a Nickel-Based Single Crystal Superalloy with Low Density
Yuling Du,Zihao Tan,Yanhong Yang,Xinguang Wang,Yizhou Zhou,Jingguo Li,Xiaofeng Sun 대한금속·재료학회 2021 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.27 No.12
A novel nickel-based single crystal superalloy with low density had been designed and the creep deformation mechanismsof the experiment alloy under two conditions (1050 °C/200 MPa and 1100 °C/137 MPa) had been systematically discussed. The topological inversion had been observed after fracture under the above two conditions. The effects of temperature andstress on creep life of the experiment alloy had been found no significant difference under the two conditions. It was indicatedthat the small decrease in temperature exerted limited influence on the creep behaviors of single crystal superalloys in therange of high temperature.
