        시각장애인의 의류 색상 인지를 위한 색상의 명도 및 채도와 촉감 재질감의 연관성 탐구

        본 연구의 색과 촉감의 매칭 시스템 디자인은 재질의 질감으로 색 정보를 연상시키고자 한 것으로, 시각장애인들의 의류 구매 활동 시 색에 대한 정보를 촉감을 통해 인지할 수 있도록 하는 데 목적이 있다. 색과 촉감의 관계에 관한 선행 연구를 바탕으로 고안된 시스템의 원리는 색의 3요소 중 채도와 명도를 질감의 거칠기와 부드러움으로 매칭하여 촉감을 통해 색을 인지할 수 있도록 디자인하였다. 채도는 거칠기에 비례하고 명도는 부드러움에 비례한다는 연구결과를 바탕으로 색상 레벨에 맞는 질감을 일대일 대응하여 총 3가지를 옷의 태그에 부착한 프로토타입을 제작하였다. 질감을 선정하기 위해 3명의 시각장애인을 대상으로 파일럿 실험을 진행하였다. 그리고 시각장애인 4명, 정안인 6명을 포함해, 총 10명을 대상으로 프로토타입을 활용한 실험에서 효용성 평가를 진행하였다. 실험 결과, 대부분의 연구대상자가 색을 인지할 수 있었고, 효용성 평가에서도 10명 중 4명에게서 유의미한 결과를 얻었고, 2명에게서 약간의 유의미한 결과를 얻었다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 이 시스템을 활용하면 의류 구매 활동에서 시각장애인들의 능동적인 경험을 유도할 수 있고 더불어 삶의 질을 향상하고 행복추구권을 높이는데 함의가 있다. This study is designed for the visually impaired to recognize color information through the texture of materials when purchasing clothing. The principle of the system design is to apply one on one mapping between two elements of color (saturation, value) with two elements of texture (roughness, softness). Base on research finding that the chroma is proportional to the roughness and the value is proportional to the softness, a total of three prototypes attached to tags on clothes were produced in one-to-one correspondence to textures that fit color levels. Three visually impaired people tested to select textures and 10 people, including 4 who are visually impaired and 6 who are normal people, were evaluated for usability of color and tactile matching through system usability scale. The result showed that most of the subjects were able to recognize the color and significant results were obtained from 4 out of 10 people in the system usability scale, and marginally significant results were obtained from 2 people. Based on these result, this system can be used to induce active experiences of the visually impaired in clothing purchasing activities, as well as to improve the quality of life and increase the right to pursue happiness.

        선원 노동시장의 이중구조와 그 문제점

        우리나라 선원 노동시장은 내국인선원과 외국인선원 노동시장으로 이중구조화되고 있으며, 이는 다시 선원 노동시장에서 정규직과 비정규직의 이중구조화로 이어지고 있다. 이러한 선원 노동시장의 이중구조화가 육상의 일반근로자 노동시장의 이중구조화와 다른 점은 선원 노동시장을 규율하는 규범 자체가 이중구조를 부추기고 있다는 점이다. 선원 직종 자체가 해기사와 부원으로 구별되어 있으면서 이중화되어 있는데, 여기에 다시 내국인과 외국인으로 이중화되어 있다. 해기사의 경우 일정한 자격이 필요하고 해기 사의 양성에 국가적 차원의 지원이 투입되고 있는 실정을 고려하면 이러한 선원 시장의 분절화는 투입된 자원의 효용과 가치의 의미를 탈각시켜 버린다. 삼면이 바다이면서 수출 중심의 국가로서 해운업 등의 양성이 필수불가결하다고 외치고 해사고 및 해양대 등 해운인력 양성에 예산을 투입하고서도 선원의 수급은 항상 문제가 된다. 젊은이들은 양질의 일자리가 부족하다고 하나, 과연 선원이라는 직종이 양질의 일자리를 제공해 줄 수 있을지 의문이다. 양질의 일자리화를 위해서는 기본적으로 고용의 안정이 전제되어야 한다. 고용 불안상태에서 단기적인 임금이 높다고 이를 양질의 일자리라고 부르기는 어렵다. 특히 외항선의 경우 항행의 주기를 기초로 했을 때 오히려 기간제 계약이 자연스러운 구조이다. 게다가 규범적인 측면에서 선원법은 특별법이나 일반법으로서 노동 관련 법률이 현장에서 적용되지 않고 배제되는 실정이다. 결국 다음의 사항들이 적극적으로 검토되어야 한다. 첫째, 비정규직 보호를 위한 규정 등 선원 근로를 보호할 규정을 선원법에 신설하여야 한다. 둘째, 현재의 외국인선원에 대한 최저임금 결정체계는 위법·위헌적이다. 따라서 규정 형식 및 내용에 대한 개정이 필요하다. 셋째, 외국인 선원 고용범위 결정 시스템을 재검토하여야 한다. 이는 외국인선원 최저 임금 결정제도와 함께 선원 노동시장의 이중화를 심화시키고, 양질의 일자리 창출이나 고용의 증가에 기여하지 못한다. 넷째, 승선문화의 개선 필요와 자질 향상을 도모할 필요가 있다. 선원 근로의 특수성은 결국 공간적 폐쇄성에 기인하는 바 현대과학기술을 접목하여 심리적 고립감을 최소화하고 인권침해 발생을 방지하기 위해서 지속적인 대응체계의 확립과 운영이 필요하다. The Korean sailor labor market is being dual-structured as a domestic sailor and a foreign sailor labor market, which in turn leads to the dual-structure of regular and non-regular workers in the sailor labor market. What makes this dual structure of the sailor labor market differ from that of the general worker labor market on land is that the norms that regulate the sailor labor market itself produce dual structure. The seaman's occupation itself is duplicated as it is distinguished as a marine officer and a member of the crew, which is again duplicated into Koreans and foreigners. Considering the circumstances in which a certain qualification is required in the case of a marine officer and national support is being invested in training the marine officer, such a segmentation degrades the meaning of the utility and value of the resources invested. In order to create decent jobs in sailor labor market, employment stability must basically be preconditioned. In the end, the following points should be actively considered. First, the Seamen Act shall establish regulations to protect the workers' work, such as regulations for the protection of non-regular workers. Secondly, the current minimum wage decision system for foreign sailors is illegal and unconstitutional. Therefore, amendments to the format and content of the regulations are required. Thirdly, the system of determining the employment scope of foreign sailors should be reviewed. Fourth, it is necessary to improve the boarding culture.

      • Flexible and Biodegradable Nanoporous Films for Application in Active Food Packaging Systems

        Nanotechnology has facilitated the development of active food packaging systems with functions that could not be achieved by their traditional counterparts. Such smart and active systems can improve the shelf life of perishable products and overcome major bottlenecks associated with the fabrication of safe and environmentally friendly food packaging systems. Herein, we used a plasma-enabled surface modification strategy to fabricate biodegradable and flexible nanoporous polycaprolactone-based (FNP) films for food packaging systems. Their capacity for preserving tomatoes, tangerines, and bananas at room and refrigeration temperatures was tested by analyzing various fruit parameters (mold generation, appearance changes, freshness, weight loss, firmness, and total soluble solids contents). Compared with commonly used polyethylene terephthalate-based containers, the proposed system enhanced the fruit storage quality (i.e., retained appearance, reduced weight loss, better firmness, and sugar contents) by controlling moisture evaporation and inhibiting mold generation. Thus, the FNP film represents a new active food packaging strategy.

      • HOW DOES CORPORATE GOVERNANCE RISK AT HOME AFFECT INVESTMENT CHOICES ABROAD?

        Disparity between control and ownership rights gives rise to the risk of tunneling by the controlling shareholder. This disparity is prevalent in many emerging market economies and present in some developed countries. This paper studies whether and how the degree of control-ownership disparity in investors home countries affects their portfolio choice in an emerging market. It combines two unique data sets on ownership and control in business groups, and investor-stock level foreign investment in Korea. A key finding is that, investors from low-disparity countries disfavor high-disparity stocks in Korea, but investors from high-disparity countries are indifferent. Moreover, investors from low-disparity countries became averse to disparity only after the Asian financial crisis. These results suggest that the nature of corporate governance in international investors home countries affects their portfolio choice abroad, and therefore that these investors should not be lumped together in analyses of their portfolio choice.

        Feasibility Study of Active IRT for the Estimation of Moisture Content of Wood

        In this paper, an experimental study to investigate the relationship between infrared reflection and moisture content of wood is presented by using an active infrared technique developed for non-contact measurement of moisture content (MC). The moisture content of wood used in heritage structures like ancient temples is important for the preservation and restoration of cultural assets in terms of safety and cultural study. Active infrared inspection system that detects near-infrared (NIR) through semiconductor photodiode using Labview program has been developed to measure the radiance of infrared from wood surface subject to thermal wave heating by halogen lamp. The change of near infrared radiance of wood samples composed of domestic pine was identified and linearly related to the moisture content of wood.

        Speed-up of the Matrix Computation on the Ridge Regression

        Artificial intelligence has emerged as the core of the 4th industrial revolution, and large amounts of data processing, such as big data technology and rapid data analysis, are inevitable. The most fundamental and universal data interpretation technique is an analysis of information through regression, which is also the basis of machine learning. Ridge regression is a technique of regression that decreases sensitivity to unique or outlier information. The time-consuming calculation portion of the matrix computation, however, basically includes the introduction of an inverse matrix. As the size of the matrix expands, the matrix solution method becomes a major challenge. In this paper, a new algorithm is introduced to enhance the speed of ridge regression estimator calculation through series expansion and computation recycle without adopting an inverse matrix in the calculation process or other factorization methods. In addition, the performances of the proposed algorithm and the existing algorithm were compared according to the matrix size. Overall, excellent speed-up of the proposed algorithm with good accuracy was demonstrated.

      • High Speed Gabor Filter using Haar Wavelets

        In this paper, we propose a new way of improving the operation speed of Gabor filters. If the mask is applied to some images, a number of mathmatical operations increase due to complexity. If the mask size is reduced as small as possible in an allowable range, the operation time may decrease. But it would make a problem because the small mask is difficult to represent both frequency and orientation characteristics. Therefore, the operation speed is overcome by substituting multiplications for additions, instead of changing the mask size. First, Haar wavelets are generated in terms of binary data. We divide the mask into two groups, 1’s and -1’s. Thus, Haar wavelets show both frequency and orientation characteristics. Then, by applying ‘Matching Pursuit’, we obtain the correlations between the original Gabor filters and our binary Haar wavelets. The Gabor filter can be described by linear combinations of Haar wavelets. As a result, the binary wavelets give a benefit to the operation speed. However, some trade-off is necessary between accuracy and speed since it may cause some errors.

      • What makes firms issue death spirals? A control enhancing story

        In this paper, we study the motive of issuing floating-priced convertibles or warrants, known as death spirals, in a country setting where the private benefit of control is high. Using a total of 199 death spiral issuances by public firms listed in the Korea Stock Exchange during 1998-2006, we find a number of empirical evidences that are not consistent with the last-resort financing hypothesis, but rather consistent with the control enhancing or control transferring hypothesis. First, death spirals are not necessarily issued by firms with poor operating performances. Second, death spiral issuers, where control is preserved within the family, experience an increase of ownership by affiliated firms. Third, this group of death spiral issuers tends to perform better than those in which family loses control.
