      • Adaptive observer for linear descriptor systems in discrete-time

        In this paper, the discrete-time functional observer is investigated to jointly estimate state and parameters, leading to an adaptive observer. The proposed observer is designed for linear descriptor systems, which is a wider class of systems than linear systems. Based on stability theory for discrete-time systems, the conditions are constructed to guarantee convergence of the state estimation for both noise-free and noise-corrupted cases. The effectiveness of the proposed adaptive observer is shown through numerical example.

      • Uniformly Ultimately Boundedness Stability Condition of Systems with State Delay and Input Backlash

        In this paper, stability of linear systems with state delay and input backlash is investigated. The uniformly ultimately boundedness stability condition of the given system is constructed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMI) form which can be easily solved with off the shelf tool. Sufficient condition for the stability is provided. Numerical examples are stated in accordance with the results.

      • Composite Momentum-based Observers for the Estimation of External Force on Robot Manipulators

        This paper investigates the estimation of external force on robot manipulators. The issue is of great importance for the safety of human-robot collaborative tasks and for the human-robot interactive tasks. However, the estimation of external force using model-based approach suffers from model uncertainties and disturbances. It also requires a quick estimate when detecting a collision. To satisfy both fast convergence and robustness, composite observers are newly proposed, which is composed of sliding mode observers and polynomial observers based on momentum state. Through their complementary roles, a composite observer achieves improved performance in safety and estimation. The simulation results show the effectiveness and validity of the proposed composite momentum-based observers.

        Simultaneous Determination of Methylphenidate, Amphetamine and their Metabolites in Urine using Direct Injection Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry

        Nonmedical use of prescription stimulants such as methylphenidate (MPH) and amphetamine (AP) by normal persons has been increased to improve cognitive functions. Due to high potential for their abuse, reliable analytical methods were required to detect these prescription stimulants in biological samples. A direct injection liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric (LC-MS/MS) method was developed and implemented for simultaneous determination of MPH, AP and their metabolites ritalinic acid (RA) and 4-hydroxyamphetamine (HAP) in human urine. Urine sample was centrifuged and the upper layer (100 μL) was mixed with 800 μL of distilled water and 100 μL of internal standards (0.2 μg/mL in methanol). The mixture was then directly injected into the LC-MS/MS system. The mobile phase was composed of 0.2% formic acid in distilled water (A) and acetonitrile (B). Chromatographic separation was performed by using a Capcell Pak MG-II C18 (150 mm × 2.0 mm i.d., 5 μm, Shiseido) column and all analytes were eluted within 5 min. Linear least-squares regression with a 1/x weighting factor was used to generate a calibration curve and the assay was linear from 20 to 1500 ng/mL (HAP), 40-3000 ng/mL (AP and RA) and 2-150 ng/mL (MPH). The intra- and inter-day precisions were within 16.4%. The intra- and inter-day accuracies ranged from -15.6% to 10.8%. The limits of detection for all the analytes were less than 4.7 ng/mL. The suitability of the method was examined by analyzing urine samples from drug abusers.

        Event-Triggered Model Predictive Control for Continuous T-S fuzzy Systems with Input Quantization

        In this paper, a problem of event-triggered model predictive control is investigated for continuous-time Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems with input quantization. To efficiently utilize network resources, event-trigger is employed, which transmits limited signals satisfying the condition that the measurement of errors is over the ratio of a certain level. Considering sampling and quantization, continuous Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems are regarded as a sector bounded continuous-time T-S fuzzy systems with input delay. Then, a model predictive controller (MPC) based on parallel distributed compensation (PDC) is designed to optimally stabilize the closed loop systems. The proposed MPC optimize the objective function over infinite horizon, which can be easily calculated and implemented solving linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) for every event-triggered time. The validity and effectiveness are shown that the event triggered MPC can stabilize well the systems with even smaller average sampling rate and limited actuator signal guaranteeing optimal performances through the numerical example.

      • Discrete-time H<SUB>∞</SUB> Explicit Input and Output Feedback Control for Linear Parameter Varying Systems

        In this paper, robust H∞ explicit input and output feedback control (EIOC) is investigated for discrete-time linear parameter varying (LPV) systems. LPV systems with bounded parameters are represented as multiple polytopic linear systems. For the systems, EIOC is designed considering H∞ performance. EIOC employs additional signals of the past intput and output signals with output feedback control, so widen the capability of the closed-loop systems. The proposed design methodology takes advantages of additional parameter to improve robustness. The effectiveness and feasibility is shown through the numerical example.

        그리스어 “코스모스” 어원의 존재여부 연구-코스모스 어원이 존재함을 중심으로-

        A greek word cosmos(κooμοo, kosmos) is considered that it does not have etymology. I wondered that the cosmos has been written as a primary word do not have parents in dictionaries. A meaningful answer about this question I acquired through James Strong. He has a strong conviction that the cosmos is derived from the verb ‘komeo’. This article purpose is to obtain the justification for the claim that etymology of the ‘cosmos’ exist in accordance with his opinion. During this process I suggested that need to separate the etymology of the ‘cosmos’ into two directions. That this article is to argue that there is the etymology of the cosmos, second, the etymology is probably verb ‘komeo’, third, the process from ‘komeo’ to ‘cosmos’ consists of two kinds of road. If you accept the meaning of the ‘cosmos’ in such a process, you can understand the fact that the ‘cosmos’ has the broad and layered sense. In other words, “Why does have the ‘cosmos’ the ambiguity that it has action meaning and aesthetic meaning at the same time?” This is a question we`ve been always asking.         이탈리아어의 조동사의 분류와 형태-통사적 특징

        Italian language belongs to the inflectional language according to the typology. For example, nouns and adjectives have the marked feature of gender and number in the form. And verbs represent person, number, tense and mood with the inflectional affix. It is interesting that the auxiliary verb has these features such as general verbs in Italian. In this research, I assumed that if a lexical verb has a property of auxiliary, and then that verb can have a complement of verb. There are some reasons that I want to treat the auxiliaries with the lexical verb. First, all auxiliaries has the inflectional word form. Second, all auxiliaries can be used with lexical verbs. And third, all auxiliaries can be derivated with nouns. According to Quirk et al. (1985), I argued that it is necessary to classify the Italian auxiliaries: modal auxiliaries. tempo-aspectual auxiliaries, passive auxiliaries. progressive auxiliaries. semi-auxiliaries, concatenatives. I resolved some problems which concern with auxiliaries, assuming that all Italian auxiliaries are lexical verbs. And I found an interesting phenomenon in auxiliary system. In general, the auxiliary has a power to select a kind of complement, but the tempo-aspectual auxiliary decides the complement of the morpho-syntactic form, and its complement has the power of auxiliary selection between AVERE and ESSERE in Italian.

        시뮬레이션을 통한 연돌효과가 지하주차장 부속실제연설비의 성능변화에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구

        최근 지어지는 대규모 고층건축물의 경우 지하에 주차장을 두고 여러 개의 코아가 연결되는 구조이다. 주차장을 통해 여러개의 코아가 연결된 구조에서 제연설비가 동작되는 경우 제연설비의 성능변화를 확인하였다. 여러개의 코아가 연결된 지하주차장의 면적을 다르게 변경한 상태에서 차압의 변화를 확인하였으며 변화된 차압 간의 관계를 확인하기 위하여 상관관계분석을 하였다. 분석결과 차압은 지하주차장의 면적에 반비례하게 변화하는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 1개의 코어만 해석하는경우와 2개의 코어를 동시에 해석하는 경우는 상관관계가 없는 것으로 분석되나 차압의 변화가 극히 적어 제연설비의 성능에영향을 주지는 않는 것으로 확인되었다. Recently, constructed large-scale high-rise buildings, multiple cores are often interconnected with an underground parking area. Performance variations of the smoke control system were observed when operating in this interconnected structure. Particularly, the pressure difference varied as the underground parking area, connected to several cores, underwent modifications. A correlation analysis was performed to determine the relationship between the fluctuating pressure differences. The findings indicated that the pressure difference was inversely proportional to the underground parking area. Moreover, the analysis revealed no correlation between evaluating a single core and simultaneously analyzing two cores. However, the variations in pressure difference were minimal and did not impact the performance of the smoke control system.
