Sudden onset vertigo is a common complaint in patients who are referred for neurological evaluation. But the entire physical examination and other diagnostic tests may be normal in these patients. Therefore we need more accurate diagnostic tools in the differential diagnosis between the peripheral and the contral vertigo. To evaluate diagnostic effectiveness, we performed Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potentials(BAEP) in the patients with 19 brainstem infarction, 23 peripheral vertigo, 20 vertebrobasilar transient ischemic attack(VB TIA) and analyzed the absolute latency of wave Ⅰ, Ⅲ, Ⅴ and interpeak latency of wave Ⅰ-Ⅲ, Ⅲ-Ⅴ,Ⅰ-Ⅴ compared to normal control data. The results were summerized as follows : 1. There was no significant differences in absolute and interpeak latencies of each BAEP waves between the group of normal control and the group of peripheral vertigo. 2. Among 19 VB TIA patients, prolonged absolute and interpeak latencies of BAEP waves were detected in eleven patients(57.9%) and in nine patients(47.3%), respectively. The abnormal findings were bilaterally in five patients(26.3%) 3. Among 20 brainstem infarction patients, ten patients(50%) showed abnormal BAEP findings, including prolonged interpeak latencies(in three, 15%) and absence of waveform(in seven, 35%). Therefore it is concluded that BAEP could be helpful in differential diagnosis of pathints with peripheral vertigo, V-B TlA, brainstem infarction and other disease of similiar symtomatology.

The most obvious method of determining the stress intensity factor for a cracked two dimensional body is to calculate the stresses adjacent to crack tip using finite element analysis. But the values of stress intensity factor with a good accuracy is generally dependent on the refinement of finite element mesh when the element used was the simple constant stress triangle. The author has proposed simple method to finite element method for calculating the stress intensity factor of crack. This method is applied to the analysis of the finite square plate with a central crack subjected to in-plane tension. Even thougth coarse mesh discretization is used, It is found that results the obtained good agreements with the available exact solution.

In this paper, the exact analysis of the parallel coupled line with open stub is presented. This structure shows LPF characteristics with broad stopband and sharp skirt characteristics. We derived the exact Z-matrix expression of the structure. In order to show the validation of the expression we designed 3^(th) order Chebyshev LPF using the structure. The simulated data excellently agreed with the predicted values by the calculation using the derived expression.

It is very important to determine the stress intensity factor for structural components involving crack or sharp defects. In general defects in actual structures can not always be represented adequately by models for which analytical solutions are available. But the finite element method is very obvious method of determining the stress intensity factor for cracks of arbitrary geometry and loading conditions. The method considered here is stress method, one of direct stiffness method and uses a extrapolation procedure proposed by Chan et al. Models for analysing is center cracked panel under tension. A half width crack was considered using a coarse finite element mesh. The purpose of this paper is to obtain better solutions for accomplishing more effective analysis of the problem at minimum cost and using a standard finite element method. Author has obtained good results by the use of coarse mesh discretization of equilateral triangle.

본태성 고혈압환자의 순응도 제고를 위하여 채택한 방책중 의사의 단독개입만으로는 13%의 통원탈락율의 개선, 보험급여 제도의 일부개선만으로는 3%의 악화에 비하여 양자 합동으로는 17%의 개선효과를 보았다. 따라서 진료의사의 좀 더 적극적인 개입과 보험급여의 진료일수제한 철폐가 요망된다. One hundred patients with essential hypertension, consecutively and newly diagnosed, were followed up at hypertension clinic of Paik Hospital to evaluate their compliance for 12 months with combination strategies provided by physician's intervention and extended insurance coverage. Rate of drop-out from reserved visit to clinic were 23% at the end of 3 months, 52% at the end of 12 month, which showed decrease, compared with 26%, and 63% respectively of ordinary management. In conclusion, in order to improve patient's compliance, a positive intervention by physician as well as lifting of insurance limitation should be intensified drastically.

인터넷과 전자산업기술의 발달로 영상의 획득과 처리를 동시에 수행하는 실시간 처리 기술이 용이하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 심장혈관의 위치, 모양, 크기 등의 정보를 우리에게 알려주는 의용 영상의 에지검출에 Genesis 보드와 이를 제어하는 MIL 패키지를 사용하여 실시간 개념을 적용한 실험을 구현해 보았으며, 획득한 영상에 적용한 마스크의 크기에 따른 영상처리 속도와 실시간 개념에 맞는 최대 제한 속도를 조사해 보았다. The development of electronics and internet technologies is enable to perform of real-time image acquisition, processing, and transmission almost simultaneously. In the paper, real-time edge detection of the medical coronary angiograms image was accomplished by making use of the Genesis H/W board and the MIL(Matrox Image Library) S/W package. The comparison of the processing time for the various mask to detect the edges of the given image shows the determination about the limited mask size under the real-time processing environment.

More efficient and simple method for obtaining a stress singularity near a crack lying perpendicular to bimaterial interface by shifting a mid-side node of 8-node isoparametric element surrounding the crack tip is presented. It is observed that the present analysis provides increased accuracy for the expression of the opening displacement and the determination of the optimal position of the mid-side node for a wide range of material properties.
