Weiwen Yu World Association for Triple Helix and Future Stra 2023 Journal of Contemporary Eastern Asia Vol.22 No.2
This study examined China's public and government agenda setting in response to the Shanghai lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It employed content analysis, correlation, and Granger's causality tests to analyze 1,717 Weibo posts published by the public and the Shanghai Municipal Government from March 12 to June 1, 2022. The results showed that (1) pandemic statistics were the central attribute in the government agenda, while civil life, community management, and government and policies were the central attributes in the public agenda; (2) the government's agenda unidirectionally influenced the public agenda in terms of government policy attributes; and (3) the government and public agendas reciprocally influenced each other in terms of economic attributes. This study contributed to the existing literature by examining agenda-setting dynamics in a city closure event during the COVID-19 epidemic. It also extended existing methods by modeling implicit relationships between attributes in the public and government agendas.

The incorporation of inorganic nanoparticles into thin film composite forward osmosis (TFC FO) membranes is an effective method to alleviate internal concentration polarization (ICP) and enhance the flux performance of the FO membrane. In this paper, synthetic hydrophilic rod-like porous nano-hydroxyapatites (PNHAs) were doped into polysulfone (PSf) casting solution to form support layer by phase inversion; further interfacial polymerization was carried out to prepare a high performance TFC FO membrane. The results showed that the incorporation of PNHAs not only improved the thickness, porosity, hydrophilicity, and connectivity of the support layer, but also enhanced the roughness of the active layer. The measured mass transfer parameters prove that these improvements were beneficial. Further FO experiments showed that when using deionized water as the feed solution and 1 mol/L NaCl as the draw solution, TFN 0.75 showed higher water flux than TFC FO membrane in both AL-FS (18.5 vs 7.16 L/m2 ·h) and AL-DS (33.26 vs 9.93 L/m2 ·h) modes. Reverse salt flux had not increased significantly. At the same time, TFN 0.75 (697 m vs 1,960 m) showed the smallest structural parameter. This study shows that PNHA is a suitable nanomaterial for mitigating the ICP effect of FO membranes.
Foucauldian Disciplinary Power on Homosexuality
Weiwen Luo 현대영미어문학회 2016 현대영미어문학 Vol.34 No.2
This paper is on how discipline power, according to Michel Foucault’s project, objectifies human subjects and how it works to separate, watch and control the homosexual through cases in some dramas. The requirement of conformity is a basic principle for power to sustain the reign of itself. This principle exists universally in modern social life. Following this principle, disciplinary power finds out the variants and corrects them. Inspired by the administrative measure to control the contagion of the plague in the 17th century and the panopticon designed by Jeremy Bentham, Foucault sees two means of discipline in modern social life, that is, surveillance and normalization. Since such mechanism is a total one in all the aspects of the society, the characters in the dramas, as gays, all suffer from various oppressions from the force of conformity. They are labeled as human monsters and had to receive the surveillance and correction inside the system. In spite of many efforts of the characters, it should be realized that what homosexuality goes against is not power in itself but the distribution of power relations, in which they are at a disadvantaged place, and that in most cases the efforts are being done in the net of power relations.
A Bayesian optimal design for degradation tests based on the inverse Gaussian process
Weiwen Peng,Yu Liu,Yanfeng Li,Shun-Peng Zhu,Hong-Zhong Huang 대한기계학회 2014 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.28 No.10
The inverse Gaussian process is recently introduced as an attractive and flexible stochastic process for degradation modeling. This processhas been demonstrated as a valuable complement for models that are developed on the basis of the Wiener and gamma processes. We investigate the optimal design of the degradation tests on the basis of the inverse Gaussian process. In addition to an optimal designwith pre-estimated planning values of model parameters, we also address the issue of uncertainty in the planning values by using theBayesian method. An average pre-posterior variance of reliability is used as the optimization criterion. A trade-off between sample sizeand number of degradation observations is investigated in the degradation test planning. The effects of priors on the optimal designs andon the value of prior information are also investigated and quantified. The degradation test planning of a GaAs Laser device is performedto demonstrate the proposed method.

This essay purports to analyse the two dramas "Torch Song Trilogy" and "Angels in America" in Michel Foucault's point of view. As it is seen, human society today has shown certain understanding and inclusiveness on homosexuality. In spite of it, today's human society is still a heterosexuality leading one. The value of homosexuality is excluded in many respects such as religion, social discipline, education, political life and so on. There must be a reason why heterosexuality is chosen as the common institution all around human society. In "The History of Sexuality", Foucault shows to the readers a history of how human being has been constructed by the discourses on the aspect of sexuality. It is found that family and marriage are all constructions by those discourses. The foundation of heterosexual discourses deeply influences today's social life, which has become the biggest barrier for homosexual practice. However, the two dramas support every instructive way to homosexual practice. Both of the dramas make efforts to find the possibilities for the homosexual practice in this heterosexual leading world.

Background Population stratifcation modeling is essential in Genome-Wide Association Studies. Objective In this paper, we aim to build a fne-scale population stratifcation model to efciently infer individual genetic ancestry. Methods Kernel Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and random forest are adopted to build the population stratifcation model, together with parameter optimization. We explore diferent PCA methods, including standard PCA and kernel PCA to extract relevant features from the genotype data that is transformed by vcf2geno, a pipeline from LASER software. These extracted features are fed into a random forest for ensemble learning. Parameter tuning is performed to jointly fnd the optimal number of principal components, kernel function for PCA and parameters of the random forest. Results Experiments based on HGDP dataset show that kernel PCA with Sigmoid function and Gaussian function can achieve higher prediction accuracy than the standard PCA. Compared to standard PCA with the two principal components, the accuracy by using KPCA-Sigmoid with the optimal number of principal components can achieve around 100% and 200% improvement for East Asian and European populations, respectively. Conclusion With the optimal parameter confguration on both PCA and random forest, our proposed method can infer the individual genetic ancestry more accurately, given their variants.

This paper proposes a constrained optimization-based torque control allocation method aimed to improve energy efficiency, and thus, driving range for electric vehicles. In the proposed method, the cost function is defined not only to achieve desired yaw moment for vehicle handling and stability, but also to minimize power losses for energy efficiency. The particular attention is paid to the power losses due to tire slips both longitudinally and laterally. The constraints are also set based on thorough investigation on various causes of power disppation such that the torque is allocated with restraint to use regenerative braking in its maximum capacity. The proposed control allocation method has been tested and verified to be effective on energy efficiency improvement through both simulation and experiment under various driving maneuvers.

Xin Li,Weiwen Deng,Sumin Zhang,Yaxin Li,Shiping Song,Shanshan Wang,Guanyu Wang 한국자동차공학회 2020 International journal of automotive technology Vol.21 No.2
Radar simulation models can effectively overcome the drawbacks of real vehicle experiment and speed up the development process of intelligent vehicle technologies based on millimeter wave radar via virtual testing. However, there are still many gaps between the radar model using in the virtual driving environment and the real radar. In this paper, a novel simulation model of intelligent vehicle millimeter wave radar is proposed. Based on the analysis of the real radar performance in typical application scenes, the radar model considers the mechanism and characteristics of the vehicle radar synthetically and a systematic radar modeling architecture with innovation is introduced. The highlights of this radar model include the design of the RCS simulation model for radar targets with both high accuracy and real-time performance, the establishment of the quantitative false alarm model, missed detection model and measurement error simulation model. Vast amounts of data collected by real vehicle radar are applied to fetch model parameters and verify the accuracy of the radar model. Simulation results show that the proposed model can reach both high reliability and computational efficiency.
A Scheduling Model of the Icebreaker Assistance Service in the Northern Sea Route
Yi Ding,Weiwen Zhou,Dongmin Xu,Guolong Lin 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.9 No.4
The melting of the sea ice in the Arctic area increases the possibility of exploiting the Northern Sea Route (NSR)by economic method. Compared to the traditional routes, navigating through the Northern Sea Route (NSR) will save much distance and time from Asia to Europe, but the ice condition along the NSR is a key obstacle to most vessels. To ensure the safety of the navigation, ice breaker assistance service becomes crucial. This paper introduces the procedure of icebreaker assistance service firstly, and then a static scheduling model is presented to illustrate icebreaker assistance service. Considering real operation, a dynamic model is proposed, and First Come First Serve (FCFS) principle is implemented into models. The experiment results show that this model is beneficial to control the average waiting time, while it may leads to wait too long for some vessels. And the average fuel cost of each trip remains stable even increasing service request.

Odontoglossum ringspot virus (ORSV) is a member of the genus Tobamovirus. It is one of the most prevalent viruses infecting orchids worldwide. Earlier studies reported the genetic variability of ORSV isolates from Korea and China. However, the evolutionary rate, timescale, and phylogeographical analyses of ORSV were unclear. Twenty-one coat protein (CP) gene sequences of ORSV were determined in this study, and used them together with 145 CP sequences obtained from GenBank to infer the genetic diversities, evolutionary rate, timescale and migration of ORSV populations. Evolutionary rate of ORSV populations was 1.25 × 10−3 nucleotides/site/y. The most recent common ancestors came from 30 year ago (95% confidence intervals, 26- 40). Based on CP gene, ORSV migrated from mainland China and South Korea to Taiwan island, Germany, Australia, Singapore, and Indonesia, and it also circulated within east Asia. Our study is the first attempt to evaluate the evolutionary rates, timescales and migration dynamics of ORSV.
