        Effects of ε-polylysine and rosemary extract on quality attributes and microbial communities in vacuum-packaged large yellow croaker (Pseudosciaena crocea) during ice storage

        The effects of vacuum package combined with0.1% e-polylysine and 0.2% rosemary extract (V ? RP) onthe quality attributes and microbial communities of largeyellow croaker (Pseudosciaena crocea) during ice storagewere investigated. The quality was evaluated by chemicalcharacteristics (total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N),K-value and biogenic amines (BAs)), microbiologicalindexes (Total viable counts (TVC), Shewanella bacteriacounts, Pseudomonas bacteria counts, Psychrophilic bacteriacounts (PBC)), changes in microbial compositionwere analyzed using high-throughput sequencing. Resultsshowed that the increase of TVB-N, K-value, microorganismsand BAs could be inhibited by V ? RP. Psychrobacterand Pseudomonas were detected in all samples. Shewanella increases rapidly in the middle of storage. Vagococcus and Shewanella were related to the decompositionof ATP, the formation of BAs, and TVB-N,respectively. In conclusion, V ? RP presented the optimaleffects, which could extend the shelf life of large yellowcroaker for another 9 days compared with the control.

        Experimental research on seismic behavior of steel reinforced high-strength concrete short columns

        This experimental research presents the seismic performance of steel reinforced high-strength concrete (SRHC) short columns. Eleven SRHC column specimens were tested under simulated earthquake loading conditions, including six short column specimens and five normal column specimens. The parameters studied included the axial load level, stirrup details and shear span ratio. The failure modes, critical region length, energy dissipation capacity and deformation capacity, stiffness and strength degradation and shear displacement of SRHC short columns were analyzed in detail. The effects of the parameters on seismic performance were discussed. The test results showed that SRHC short columns exhibited shear-flexure failure characteristics. The critical region length of SRHC short columns could be taken as the whole column height, regardless of axial load level. In comparison to SRHC normal columns, SRHC short columns had weaker energy dissipation capacity and deformation capacity, and experienced faster stiffness degradation and strength degradation. The decrease in energy dissipation and deformation capacity due to the decreasing shear span ratio was more serious when the axial load level was higher. However, SRHC short columns confined by multiple stirrups might possess good seismic behavior with enough deformation capacity (ultimate drift ratio ≥ 2.5%), even though a relative large axial load ratio (= 0.38) and relative small structural steel ratio (= 3.58%) were used, and were suitable to be used in tall buildings in earthquake regions.

        China's Normative Foreign Policy and Its Multilateral Engagement in Asia

        This paper focuses on the normative aspect of Chinese foreign policy, whereby China strives to promote its norms, values, and rules in the international arena. Drawing on the relational theory of international politics, normative foreign policy (NFP) is re‐conceptualized by addressing the ontological foundation of international relations. In this light, China's role as an NFP actor is elaborated, based on its cultural traditions and international experience. The paper argues that in contrast with the West's emphasis on substantive norms of universality, Chinese norms are relational; they stress the importance of creating and maintaining ties in international relations. Furthermore, through its international relations, China has implemented an implicit and explicit normative agenda as part of its foreign policy. To further elaborate on this argument, China's multilateral regional diplomacy towards its neighboring regions, in particular Central Asia, is considered. It is concluded that China's NFP both challenges and is challenged by other actors through their constant interaction. This finding has broad implications for contemporary international relations.

        A Bilateral Filtering Based Ringing Elimination Approach for Motion-blurred Restoration Image

        We describe an approach that uses a bilateral filter to reduce the ringing artifact in motion-blurred restoration image. It takes into account the specific physical structure of the ringing artifact combined with the properties of the human visual system. To properly reduce the ringing artifact, each of the adjacent pixels is limited in a straight line which has a given direction. To protect the edges and the texture regions of an image, our algorithm divides the image into texture regions and flat regions, and the artifact reduction algorithm is only applied to the flat region. Finally, we use 8 typical images and 5 objective quality evaluation indices to evaluate our algorithm. Experimental results show that our algorithm can obtain better results in subjective visual effect and in objective image quality evaluation.

      • Improved RFID Middleware Architecture and Optimal Algorithm based on Internet of Things

        Internet of things is a wireless data communications technology, while radio frequency identification (RFID) is an emerging technology in the automatic identification of the Internet of things. In fact, it means the use of RFID system identification technology through the Internet to achieve the application of information interconnection and sharing. In this paper, the author analyzes an improved RFID middleware architecture and optimal algorithm based on internet of things. Through the analysis of RFID middleware technology, we put forward an optimized load balancing algorithm. The results show that the optimization algorithm is superior to the existing algorithms in the average time of load balancing and label processing.

        MissingFound: An Assistant System for Finding Missing Companions via Mobile Crowdsourcing

        Looking for missing companions who are out of touch in public places might suffer a long and painful process. With the help of mobile crowdsourcing, the missing person`s location may be reported in a short time. In this paper, we propose MissingFound, an assistant system that applies mobile crowdsourcing for finding missing companions. Discovering valuable users who have chances to see the missing person is the most important task of MissingFound but also a big challenge with the requirements of saving battery and protecting users` location privacy. A customized metric is designed to measure the probability of seeing, according to users` movement traces represented by WiFi RSSI fingerprints. Since WiFi RSSI fingerprints provide no knowledge of users` physical locations, the computation of probability is too complex for practical use. By parallelizing the original sequential algorithms under MapReduce framework, the selecting process can be accomplished within a few minutes for 10 thousand users with records of several days. Experimental evaluation with 23 volunteers shows that MissingFound can select out the potential witnesses in reality and achieves a high accuracy (76.75% on average). We believe that MissingFound can help not only find missing companions, but other public services (e.g., controlling communicable diseases).

        Twitter Diplomacy and China’s Strategic Narrative during the Early COVID-19 Crisis

        This article examines Chinese diplomats’ use of Twitter during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Although Twitter is blocked in China, Chinese officials use the platform to experiment with new public diplomacy channels and directly communicate with foreign audiences. We argue that China’s utilization of Twitter in 2020 functioned as a crisis management and public relations tool and as a mechanism for disseminating a strategic narrative (SN) that articulated foreign policy priorities. To illustrate this, we apply a qualitative content analysis to a selection of tweets from two China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) spokespersons and divided into three stages. In each stage, distinct narrative themes emerge and construct a cohesive SN across three dimensions: issues, role identity, and the international system. This study reveals that China’s public diplomacy apparatus effectively reaches global audiences with well-structured narratives but also that this effectiveness remains very limited

        GORENSTEIN QUASI-RESOLVING SUBCATEGORIES

        In this paper, we introduce the notion of Gorenstein quasiresolving subcategories (denoted by 𝒢𝒬𝓡<sub>𝒳</sub> (𝓐)) in term of quasi-resolving subcategory 𝒳. We define a resolution dimension relative to the Gorenstein quasi-resolving categories 𝒢𝒬𝓡<sub>𝒳</sub> (𝓐). In addition, we study the stability of 𝒢𝒬𝓡<sub>𝒳</sub> (𝓐) and apply the obtained properties to special subcategories and in particular to modules categories. Finally, we use the restricted flat dimension of right B-module M to characterize the finitistic dimension of the endomorphism algebra B of a 𝒢𝒬<sub>𝒳</sub>-projective A-module M.
