Preparation and photocatalytic activity of a novel BiOCl/g‑C3N4 thin film prepared via spin coating

Novel BiOCl/g-C3N4 thin film photocatalysts were synthesized via a simple two-step spin coating method. The prepared photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity of the thin films for the degradation of rhodamine B under visible light (λ ≥ 400 nm) was investigated. The results showed that the BiOCl/g-C3N4 thin film photocatalysts exhibited significantly improved visible light absorption compared to the pure BiOCl thin film. The BiOCl/g-C3N4 film showed a rhodamine B degradation efficiency of 81.0% under visible light, which is 23.8 times higher than that of the pure BiOCl thin film. This excellent photocatalytic activity of the BiOCl/g-C3N4 film can be attributed to its efficient electron–hole separation due to the presence of g-C3N4.
Health-related Quality of Life After Treatment for Malignant Bone Tumors: A Follow-up Study in China

Aim: We conducted the present study to assess health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among bone cancer patients after surgical treatment in one large teaching hospitals in China, and assess the risk factors for improving the physical or mental HRQoL. Methods: 344 eligible adult patients who were admitted to the hospital with malignant bone tumors during the period of Jun. 2008 to Dec. 2011, and a reference group with 361 health cases was recruited in the same hospital during the same period. All 344 patients were followed up for one year. The HRQoL before treatment and after one year was evaluated with the Medical Outcome Short Form 36 (SF-36). Results: All 8 domains of HRQoL had the lowest scores greatly improved over the first year after discharge. However, the patients still had significantly lower scores in every domain than the reference group one year after discharge. Age and type of surgery were associated with HRQoL in the mental domain. Conclusion: The HRQoL of patients with malignant bone tumors greatly improved one year after the treatment. This study also highlighted the utility of HRQoL assessment for prognostic evaluation of patients after surgical treatment for bone cancer.

Herein, a novel kind of composite yarn with alternating segmented structure and interval color has been prepared based on a ring spinning approach. By adjusting the relative motion and blend ratio of the colored polyester filament and natural cotton staple fiber in yarn spinning process, a series of composite yarns were designed and prepared with various segmented structure and cyclical change of the distinct colors. The blend ratio was found to strongly influence on the segment frequency and yarn performance, achieving an improved mechanical property and yarn performance. A color systematic analysis indicated that the combination of alternating structural change induced interval color sense and gradient at the merged regions would lead to an enhanced stereoscopic visual effect of the composite yarns. Moreover, the composite yarns were confirmed to have an excellent weavability and able to endow different patterns and visual effects to the textiles. Thus, considering of the above advantages and multifunctionalities, this work should spur great possibilities for dyeing industry with the promising physical spinning method.

The catalytic exchange of hydrogen isotopes between hydrogen and water has been knownto be a very useful process for the separation of tritium from tritiated water. For the process,a highly active hydrophobic catalyst is needed. This study provides an effectivefabrication method of size-controlled platinum/poly[styrene-divinylbenzene-tri(propyleneglycol) diacrylate] [Pt/poly(SDB-TPGDA)] hydrophobic catalyst beads with a narrow sizedistribution. Platinum nanoparticles were prepared by g-ray-induced reduction in theaqueous phase first, and then uniformly dispersed in SDB-TPGDA comonomer after thehydrophobization of platinum nanoparticles with alkylamine stabilizers. The porous Pt/poly(SDB-TPGDA) hydrophobic catalyst beads were synthesized by the UV-initiated polymerizationof the mixture droplets prepared in a capillary-based microfluidic system. Thesize of as-prepared catalyst beads can be controlled in the range of 200e1,000 mm byadjusting the flow rate of dispersed and continuous phases, as well as the viscosity of thecontinuous phase. Sorbitan monooleate and cyclohexanol were used as coporogens tocontrol the porosities of the catalyst beads.

In this paper, a novel approach, ELM-PCA, is introduced for the first time to predict protein subcellular localization. Firstly, Protein Samples are represented by the pseudo amino acid composition (PseAAC). Secondly, the principal component analysis (PCA) is employed to extract essential features. Finally, the Elman Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) is used as a classifier to identify the protein sequences. The results demonstrate that the proposed approach is effective and practical. Inhibitory effect of 2,4-dichlorophenol on nitrogen removal in a sequencing batch reactor

We examined the inhibitory effect of 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP) on nitrogen removal in the sequencing batch reactor (SBR) system. The reactor was operated with FILL, REACT (nitrification: denitrification), SETTLE,DRAW and IDLE phases in the duration ratio of 2 : 12 (9 : 3) : 1 : 1 : 8 for a 24 h cycle time. The deterioration of 2,4-DCP removal efficiency from 100 to 41% was observed when the influent concentration of 2,4-DCP was increased to 30mg/L. The residual 2,4-DCP remaining in the mixed liquor was found to inhibit the nitrification process, resulting in the decrease of nitrogen removal efficiency to 25 %. For kinetic study, the result showed that the experimental data of ammoniacal nitrogen (AN) removal at every stage fitted well to the first-order kinetics equation with high R2 values. The rate constant of AN removal, kAN, decreased with increasing influent concentration of 2,4-DCP, from 0.053 to 0.0006/min when 2,4-DCP concentration increased from 0 to 30 mg/L, respectively. However, the observed gradual recovering of AN removal with respect to the removal efficiency and kinetics during the recovery stage indicated that the inhibitory effect of 2,4-DCP on the nitrification process was reversible.
Based on the Pseudo Code Ranging Network Broadband Spectrum Perception Algorithm

The research based on the related network broadband spectrum sensing algorithm of pn code ranging. More than the traditional spectrum sensing method based on narrow band as the research basis, through the radio-frequency head band pass filter center frequency change and implementation, therefore, not effective spectrum of broadband usage in real time tracking and perception, therefore, put forward the network broadband spectrum sensing algorithm based on pseudo code ranging. Spectrum resource usage through the main user judgment, build relevant spectrum perception model, according to theory of time serial search for pseudo code capture, until the results reached the preset threshold, enter the pn code tracking, according to the obtained phase difference sequence regulating local phase to achieve two sequences are minimum steady-state phase, implementation pseudo-code tracking, thus complete the perception of broadband spectrum and tracking. The experimental results show that the improved algorithm for network broadband spectrum perception can effectively reduce because of the negative impact of such factors as the channel fading and improve the processing speed and the reliability of perception, to provide data support to improve the utilization rate of spectrum resources, has a great advantage.
Improved photocatalytic performance of Pd-doped ZnO

ZnO and Pd-doped ZnO photocatalysts with different molar ratio of Pd/Zn (1/100, 2/100, 3/100 and 4/100) were prepared by a solegel method. The photocatalysts prepared were characterized by BET surface area, X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV/vis diffuse reflectance (DRS) and surface photovoltage spectroscopy (SPS), respectively. The results show that doping Pd into ZnO decreases the BET surface area. The XRD spectra of the Pd-doped ZnO catalysts calcined at 773 K show only the characteristic peaks of wurtzite-type. Doping Pd into ZnO increases the absorbance of ZnO in visible region and enhances the photoinduced charge separation rate. The photocatalytic activity of Pd-doped ZnO photocatalysts for decolorization of methyl orange (MO) solution was evaluated, of all the photocatalysts prepared, the Pddoped ZnO with 3/100 possesses the best photocatalytic activity. The results of further experiments show that increased adsorption ability of light and high separation rate of photoinduced charge carriers all play an important role in promotion of photocatalytic activity of Pd-doped ZnO nanostructure.
