Mechanical cutting is very important in many industrial applications. Since mechanical cutting often involves contour following, generally, prior trajectory planning is inevitable. However, in some applications the geometric model of the object for cutting is not available. One possible approach to circumventing this difficulty is to employ a visual servoing approach. As a result, in this paper, an eye-to-hand camera mounted on the ceiling is used to obtain the shape information of the object. Moreover, PH splines are designed to represent the obtained object shape. Based on the obtained PH splines, an interpolator is developed to generate the desired feature command for the Image-Based Visual Servoing (IBVS) structure. Another eye-to-hand camera is placed in a position that can have a full view of the object for cutting so as to provide vision feedback for the IBVS structure. Finally, contouring following experiments of several objects with arbitrary shapes have been conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
Split-Capacitor Self-Balancing of Single-Phase Half-Bridge Inverters
Che-Wei Chang,Terng-Wei Tsai,Yaow-Ming Chen 전력전자학회 2019 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2019 No.5
This paper uncovers the mechanism of the unbalanced split capacitor voltage caused by the deviation of the sensing signal. For the single-phase half-bridge (SPHB) inverter, the deviation of the sensing signal will lead to an offset on the output current and further causes the deviation of split capacitor voltage. However, this unbalance capacitor voltage will help to compensate the output current offset. Consequently, the capacitor voltages will drift to a certain stable voltage level, which is commonly called the selfbalancing effect. This paper presents the precise mathematical equations by analyzing the self-balancing mechanism and accurately predict the value of capacitor voltage variations. Computer simulations and hardware experimental results of a 1kVA SPHB inverter are shown to verify the accuracy of the mathematical equations.
Non-fragile Dynamic Output Feedback H_∞ Control for Discrete-Time Systems with FWL Consideration
Wei-Wei Che,Guang-Hong Yang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2011 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.9 No.5
The non-fragile dynamic output feedback H_∞ controller design problem is investigated. The controller to be designed is assumed to be with additive gain variations. A two-step procedure is proposed to develop sufficient conditions for the non-fragile H_∞ controller design by employing the structured vertex separator. A comparison between the proposed and the existing controller design methods is provided, and a numerical example is carried out to support the theoretical findings.
Resource Management in 5G Mobile Networks: Survey and Challenges
Wei-Che Chien,Shih-Yun Huang,Chin-Feng Lai,Han-Chieh Chao 한국정보처리학회 2020 Journal of information processing systems Vol.16 No.4
With the rapid growth of network traffic, a large number of connected devices, and higher application services, the traditional network is facing several challenges. In addition to improving the current network architecture and hardware specifications, effective resource management means the development trend of 5G. Althoughmany existing potential technologies have been proposed to solve the some of 5G challenges, such as multipleinput multipleoutput (MIMO), softwaredefined networking (SDN), network functions virtualization (NFV), edge computing, millimeterwave, etc., research studies in 5G continue to enrich its function and move toward B5G mobile networks. In this paper, focusing on the resource allocation issues of 5G core networks and radio access networks, we address the latest technological developments and discuss the current challenges for resource management in 5G.
Sparse Structured Non-fragile H∞ Controller Design for Linear Systems
Wei-Wei Che,Guang-Hong Yang,Xiao-Zheng Jin 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2013 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.11 No.4
This paper presents a study on the problem of designing non-fragile H∞ controllers with sparse structures for linear continuous-time systems. A new algorithm is proposed to define and further design sparse structured controllers. Firstly, sparse structures are specified from a given fully parameterized H∞ controller. Then, a three-step design procedure for non-fragile dynamic output feedback H∞ controllers with the sparse structures is provided. The resulting designs guarantee that the closed-loop system is asymptotically stable and the H∞ performance from the disturbance to the regulated output is less than a prescribed level. A numerical example is given to illustrate the design methods.

Objective: To examine existing literature and pool the data to determine the relative odds ratio of “adding-on” (AO) based on various reported criteria for lower instrumented vertebra (LIV) selection in Lenke type 1A and 2A curves. Methods: Using electronic databases, studies reporting on AO and LIV selection in Lenke type 1A and 2A curves were identified. Studies were excluded if they failed to meet the following criteria: ≥30 patients, Lenke type 1A or 2A curves, thoracic-only fusions, and inclusion of outcome differences in AO and non-AO groups. Review articles, letters, and case reports were excluded. Results: Six studies were identified reporting on 732 patients with either Lenke type 1A or 2A curves treated with thoracic-only fusions. Five different landmarks were used for LIV selection in these studies including the stable vertebra (SV) -1, end vertebra (EV) +1, neutral vertebra (NV), touched vertebra (TV), and substantially touched vertebra (STV) versus nonsubstantially touched vertebra (nSTV) +1. The pooled odds ratios of AO for choosing LIV at levels above the afore landmarks (i.e., ending the construct “short”) versus at the landmarks were 2.59 (SV-1), 2.43 (EV+1), 3.05 (NV), 3.40 (TV), and 4.52 (STV/nSTV+1), all at 95% confidence interval. Conclusion: Five landmarks shared a similar characteristic in that the incidence of AO was significantly higher if the LIV was proximal to the chosen landmark. In addition, choosing STV/(nSTV+1) as the LIV have the lowest absolute risk of AO and the greatest risk reduction. If additional levels were fused (i.e., LIV distal to the landmark), there was no statistically significant benefit in further reducing the risk of AO. Selection of the optimal LIV is a complex issue and spine surgeons must balance the risk of AO with the need for motion preservation in young patients.

Fucosyltransferases (FucTs) usually catalyze the final step of glycosylation and are critical to many biological processes. High levels of specific FucT activities are often associated with various cancers. Here we report the development of a chemoenzymatic method for synthesizing a library of GDP-L-fucose derivatives, followed by in situ screening for inhibitory activity against bacterial and human -1,3-FucTs (4). Several compounds incorporating appropriate hydrophobic moieties were identified from the initial screening. These were individually synthesized, purified and characterized in detail for their inhibition kinetics. Compound 5 had a Ki of 29 nM for human FucT-VI, and is 269 and 11 times more selective than for Helicobacter pylori FucT (Ki = 7.8 □ M) and for human FucT-V (Ki = 0.31 □ M).

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive management strategy that has been widely applied for benign and recurrent malignant thyroid lesions as an alternative to surgery in Taiwan. Members of academic societies for specialists in interventional radiology, endocrinology, and endocrine surgery collaborated to develop the first consensus regarding thyroid RFA in Taiwan. The modified Delphi method was used to reach a consensus. Based on a comprehensive review of recent and valuable literature and expert opinions, the recommendations included indications, pre-procedural evaluations, procedural techniques, post-procedural monitoring, efficacy, and safety, providing a comprehensive review of the application of RFA. The consensus effectively consolidates advice regarding thyroid RFA in clinical practice for local experts.

Objective This study investigates the association between mental disorders and interferon nontreatment in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in a large national sample. Methods Using the National Health Insurance Research Database of Taiwan, we conducted a nationwide population-based study. Each case was matched to five controls by age, sex, urbanization, and income. Conditional logistic regression was used to assess odds of HCV nontreatment in different mental disorders. Results From 1999 to 2013, we identified 92,970 subjects with HCV infection and 15,495 HCV cases (16.7%) had received IFN therapy. Other than chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, the medical diseases and mental disorders were significantly different between IFN and non-IFN treated HCV patients. After adjusting for medical diseases, depressive disorder and anxiety disorder was positively associated with receiving IFN therapy. Patients with schizophrenia, bipolar disorders and alcohol use disorders were significantly less likely to receive interferon. Antidepressant exposure (cumulative daily exposure or cumulative daily dose) was associated with lower odds of IFN treatment. Conclusion Our nationwide cohort study demonstrated that INF nontreatment rate was lower in certain mental disorders. Antidepressant exposure might lower the chance of receiving IFN treatment. Our results may help to identify and to overcome the obstacles for HCV treatment and further apply to DAAs regimen.
