Musicalité intertextuelle et effets phonostylistiques : Un amour de Swann en italien

Viviana Agostini-Ouafi 서울대학교 외국어교육연구소 2014 외국어교육연구 Vol.- No.-

This study expounds the thoughts of one of Proust’s most important Italian translators, Giacomo Debenedetti, on the translation of the sweet, plaintive and sad tone of Un amour de Swann. According to that literary critic, the translation should convey the nostalgia of the original text exiled in the Other Person’s voice. In fact, his interpretation of Proust’s musicality, and his own conception (and practice) of novel writing as an intertextual dialogue, strongly influenced his translation. In order to analyze some of the phono-stylistic effects that the translator sought to achieve on purpose, this study takes into account the phonological and rhythmical features of the Italian language. In fact, a harsher musicality emerges from the Italian text, quite in keeping with a literary tradition going back to Eugenio Montale, Gabriele D’Annunzio, Giovanni Pascoli and Dante. This musicality suggests, and indeed intensifies, the meaning of the original text. As a matter of fact, the expressivity of the phonemes remains potential and polysemic, until it reveals its aesthetic value in a particular semantic context.

Identification of a Bacillus thuringiensis Surface Layer Protein with Cytotoxic Activity against MDA-MB-231 Breast Cancer Cells

        ( Viviana P. Rubio ),( Alejandra Bravo ),( Jorge Olmos ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2017 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.27 No.1

In this work, we isolated a surface layer protein (SLP) from a Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) strain to evaluate it cytotoxic effects against MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cells. AP11 was selected from a g roup o f B t s trains u sing SLP o lig onucleotides developed f rom Bacillus conserved regions. The AP11 strain was grown in Luria Bertani medium until the late exponential phase; an 86 kDa protein was extracted using 5 M LiCl and identified by liquid chromatography- tandem mass spectrometry. It corresponded to a multispecies SLP highly similar to previously described SLPs in Bt. The MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells LC50 was obtained using 0.25 μg/ml of the isolated SLP. HaCat non-cancerous cells presented 90% survival using the same protein concentration. Our data suggest that SLP cytotoxicity against MDA-MB-231 could be induced by an interaction with the CDH11 cell membrane receptor.

Detection of Germline Mutations in Argentine Retinoblastoma Patients: Low and Full Penetrance Retinoblastoma Caused by the Same Germline Truncating Mutation

( Viviana Dalamon ),( Ezequiel Surace ),( Florencia Giliberto ),( Veronica Ferreiro ),( Cecilia Fernandez ),( Irene Szijan ) 생화학분자생물학회 2004 BMB Reports Vol.37 No.2

Constitutional RB1 gene mutations were studied in a series of 21 families with unilateral and bilateral retinoblastoma patients. Peripheral blood lymphocytes were analyzed by exon by exon PCR-heteroduplex and sequencing. Mutations were identified in 6 (29%) of the patients. One mutation corresponded to an intronic polymorphism in g.174351T>A. The other five mutations resulted C to T exonic transitions, four were CGA sequences (g.65386, g.150037 in two patients, and g.162237), creating stop codons and presumably truncated proteins. The fifth one was new and resulted in alanine to valine substitution (g.73774). Two patients had the same the germline truncated mutation (g.150037C>T), one with a familial bilateral early onset retinoblastoma and one with a sporadic unilateral late onset retinoblastoma. The later type has not been previously described. This finding is discussed in the genotype/phenotype correlation context. Additionally, a single nucleotide change was found in six studied samples, where a C to T homozygous transversion was identified in intron 26(IVS26+28). It is worthy the non concordance of the nucleotide with the published sequence, This analysis proved to be a useful method for the detection of mutations in the RB1 gene, and contributed to the adequate genetic counseling to patients and relatives.

Evaluation of in vitro antimicrobial susceptibility of Bacillus anthracis strains isolated during anthrax outbreaks in Italy from 1984 to 2017

        Viviana Manzulli,Antonio Fasanella,Antonio Parisi,Luigina Serrecchia,Adelia Donatiello,Valeria Rondinone,Marta Caruso,Sabine Zange,Alina Tscherne,Nicola Decaro,Carmine Pedarra,Domenico Galante 대한수의학회 2019 Journal of Veterinary Science Vol.20 No.1

Anthrax, caused by Bacillus anthracis, is a non-contagious infectious disease that affects a wide range of animal species (primarily ruminants) including humans. Due to the often-fatal outcome in humans, quick administration of definitely effective antimicrobials is crucial either as prophylaxis or as a clinical case therapy. In this study, 110 B. anthracis strains, temporally, geographically, and genetically different, isolated during anthrax outbreaks in Italy from 1984 to 2017, were screened using a broth microdilution method to determine their susceptibility to 16 clinically relevant antimicrobial agents. The strains were isolated from various matrices (human, animal, and environmental samples) and were representative of thirty distinct genotypes previously identified by 15-loci multiple-locus variable-number of tandem repeats analysis. The antimicrobials tested were gentamicin, ceftriaxone, streptomycin, penicillin G, clindamycin, chloramphenicol, vancomycin, linezolid, cefotaxime, tetracycline, erythromycin, rifampin, amoxicillin, ciprofloxacin, doxycycline, and trimethoprim. All isolates were susceptible to most of the tested antimicrobials, with the exception of trimethoprim for which all of them showed high minimal inhibitory concentration values. An intermediate level of susceptibility was recorded for ceftriaxone and cefotaxime. Although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend the use of doxycycline, ciprofloxacin, penicillin G, and amoxicillin for treatment of human cases and for post-exposure prophylaxis to anthrax spores, this study shows a high degree of in vitro susceptibility of B. anthracis to many other antimicrobials, suggesting the possibility of an alternative choice for prophylaxis and therapy.

      • PRECARIZACION CIUDADANA Y SALUD AMBIENTAL. LA POBLACION RESIDENTE EN LA CUENCA DE LOS ARROYOS SAN FRANCISCO Y LAS PIEDRAS (QUILMES, BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA)

Viviana Masciadri Dominguez Institute of Iberoamerican Studies Pusan Universit 2011 International Journal of Latin American Studies Vol.1 No.1

This paper reveals the need to take extreme sanitary measures as it is a river basin which is easily flooded with sewage, slightly less than half the population of Quilmes lives in this area, and it registers high percentages of the total deaths in the municipality. The lack of or scarce control of industrial waste, the inadequate and/or lack of water networks, and the wastewater disposal by citizen initiative in wells, ditches or streams, express a lack of officially planned actions, transforming the site into a place where respiratory illnesses, parasitic-infectious diseases, neoplasia and stress disorders post-traumatic are relevant problems to public health; as well as the gender inequities that naturalize women in their reproductive role and as care providers, which is reinforced by medical discourse that makes ?the mother? responsible for dealing with the child`s (the progeny?s) health. The official charities and state social programs link the women`s role to the traditional matrix: hence the neighborhood's dining rooms (canteens) are considered a second home by their organizers, while the activities revolve around their children. This does not happen in COLCIC where new practices are tested.

New Frontiers in Molecular Imaging with Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles (SPIONs): Efficacy, Toxicity, and Future Applications

        Viviana Frantellizzi,Miriam Conte,Mariano Pontico,Arianna Pani,Roberto Pani,Giuseppe De Vincentis 대한핵의학회 2020 핵의학 분자영상 Vol.54 No.2

Supermagnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles (SPIONs) are nanoparticles that have an iron oxide core and a functionalized shell. SPIONs have recently raised much interest in the scientific community, given their exciting potential diagnostic and theragnostic applications. The possibility tomodify their surface and the characteristics of their coremake SPIONs a specific contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging but also an intriguing family of tracer for nuclear medicine. An example is 68Ga-radiolabeled bombesin-conjugated to superparamagnetic nanoparticles coated with trimethyl chitosan that is selective for the gastrin-releasing peptide receptors. These receptors are expressed by several human cancer cells such as breast and prostate neoplasia. Since the coating does not interfere with the properties of the molecules bounded to the shell, it has been proposed to link SPIONs with antibodies. SPIONs can be used also to monitor the biodistribution of mesenchymal stromal cells and take place in various applications. The aimof this reviewof literature is to analyze the diagnostic aspect of SPIONs inmagnetic resonance imaging and in nuclear medicine, with a particular focus on sentinel lymph node applications. Moreover, it is taken into account the possible toxicity and the effects on human physiology to determine the SPIONs’ safety.

Mechanical behavior and microstructural characterization of different zirconia polycrystals in different thicknesses

Laura Viviana Calvache Arcila,Nathália de Carvalho Ramos,Tiago Moreira Bastos Campos,Kiara Serafini Dapieve,Luiz Felipe Valandro,Renata Marques de Melo,Marco Antonio Bottino 대한치과보철학회 2021 The Journal of Advanced Prosthodontics Vol.13 No.6

PURPOSE. To characterize the microstructure of three yttria partially stabilized zirconia ceramics and to compare their hardness, indentation fracture resistance (IFR), biaxial flexural strength (BFS), and fatigue flexural strength. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Disc-shaped specimens were obtained from 3Y-TZP (Vita YZ HT), 4Y-PSZ (Vita YZ ST) and 5Y-PSZ (Vita YZ XT), following the ISO 6872/2015 guidelines for BFS testing (final dimensions of 12 mm in diameter, 0.7 and 1.2 ± 0.1 mm in thicknesses). Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses were performed, and mechanical properties were assessed by Vickers hardness, IFR, quasi-static BFS and fatigue tests. RESULTS. All ceramics showed similar chemical compositions, but mainly differed in the amount of yttria, which was higher as the amount of cubic phase in the diffractogram (5Y-PSZ > 4Y-PSZ > 3Y-TZP). The 4Y- and 5Y-PSZ specimens showed surface defects under SEM, while 3Y-TZP exhibited greater grain uniformity on the surface. 5Y-PSZ and 3Y-TZP presented the highest hardness values, while 3Y-TZP was higher than 4Y- and 5Y-PSZ with regard to the IFR. The 5Y-PSZ specimen (0.7 and 1.2 mm) showed the worst mechanical performance (fatigue BFS and cycles until failure), while 3Y-TZP and 4Y-PSZ presented statistically similar values, higher than 5Y-PSZ for both thicknesses (0.7 and 1.2 mm). Moreover, 3Y-TZP showed the highest (1.2 mm group) and the lowest (0.7 mm group) degradation percentage, and 5Y-PSZ had higher strength degradation than 4Y-PSZ group. CONCLUSION. Despite the microstructural differences, 4Y-PSZ and 3Y-TZP had similar fatigue behavior regardless of thickness. 5Y-PSZ had the lowest mechanical performance.

SURVEY DESIGN FOR SPECTRAL ENERGY DISTRIBUTION FITTING: A FISHER MATRIX APPROACH

        Acquaviva, Viviana,Gawiser, Eric,Bickerton, Steven J.,Grogin, Norman A.,Guo, Yicheng,Lee, Seong-Kook IOP Publishing 2012 The Astrophysical journal Vol.749 No.1

<P>The spectral energy distribution (SED) of a galaxy contains information on the galaxy's physical properties, and multi-wavelength observations are needed in order to measure these properties via SED fitting. In planning these surveys, optimization of the resources is essential. The Fisher Matrix (FM) formalism can be used to quickly determine the best possible experimental setup to achieve the desired constraints on the SED-fitting parameters. However, because it relies on the assumption of a Gaussian likelihood function, it is in general less accurate than other slower techniques that reconstruct the probability distribution function (PDF) from the direct comparison between models and data. We compare the uncertainties on SED-fitting parameters predicted by the FM to the ones obtained using the more thorough PDF-fitting techniques. We use both simulated spectra and real data, and consider a large variety of target galaxies differing in redshift, mass, age, star formation history, dust content, and wavelength coverage. We find that the uncertainties reported by the two methods agree within a factor of two in the vast majority (similar to 90%) of cases. If the age determination is uncertain, the top-hat prior in age used in PDF fitting to prevent each galaxy from being older than the universe needs to be incorporated in the FM, at least approximately, before the two methods can be properly compared. We conclude that the FM is a useful tool for astronomical survey design.</P>
