The objective of this study was to evaluate how the tank colours may change the effects of extreme temperature on the survival, growth, and quality of juvenile golden trevally (Gnathanodon speciosus). The experiment was set up with fifteen treatments of five tank colours (blue, red, yellow, grey, and white) and three temperatures (30℃, 32℃, 34℃) with three replications. Fish performance was assessed for four weeks. The results showed that tank colours and elevated temperatures affected the quality of golden trevally juveniles. The survival and growth rate of fish tend to decrease gradually, but the deformation rate of fish tended to increase in the order of tank colours: red, yellow > grey, blue, and white. The growth and survival rate of fish gradually decreased when the rearing temperature increased from 30℃ to 34℃ and this effect was independent of tank colors. Importantly, the deformation rate increased under elevated temperature, particularly in blue and white tanks with potential long-term effects. It is, therefore, not recommended to use blue and white tanks for rearing the golden trevally juveniles, particularly during extremely high temperatures from heatwave events.

The Electronic Servo-Valve Hydraulic (ESVH) actuator is commonly used in the industrial sector and engineering practice. This paper investigates the robustness of the H∞/LPV active anti-roll bar system when the presence of an oil leakage inside the electronic servo-valve is taken into account. We propose a fully integrated model, including four ESVH actuators in a single unit heavy vehicle. Then, an H∞/LPV controller is synthesized in order to satisfy simultaneously the two main objectives of enhancing roll stability and the saturation of the actuators. Survey results indicate that the oil leakage has a positive effect in protecting the active anti-roll bar system if the controller stops working and it is indispensable for this type system. At each design point of the LPV system, the µ-tool method is used to test the robustness analysis in the frequency domain. It is shown that the active anti-roll bar system is always robust with the maximum uncertain level of the total flow pressure coefficient of 41%, when the forward velocity is considered to be over 130 km/h.

The role of the garment and textile industry is particularly important in the economies of many countries in the context of international goods trade. There is no denying that the garment and textile industry contributes significantly to the economic growth in the global economy. The study seeks to investigate the relationship between control variables and Vietnamese consumers’ intention to buy Chinese garment products. While previous research has found some control variables influencing consumers’ intention to buy products, little research has been done about the influence of control variables on consumers’ intention to buy Chinese garment products, in developing countries like Vietnam. In particular, the textile industry plays an important role in export, but outsourcing is accounting for a high proportion of trade, hence, it is necessary to increase innovation to increase consumers’ intention to buy domestic garment products. The data is collected from a survey of 406 Vietnamese consumers’ in Hanoi city and Ho Chi Minh City. The methodology includes a mixed-method, i.e. qualitative method and quantitative method. The quantitative method applies SPSS analysis to measure the control variables’ influence on Vietnamese consumers’ intention to buy Chinese garment products. The results identify 1 control variable that impacts Vietnamese consumers’ intention to buy Chinese garment products, which is domicile.

Hoang, Luc Huy,Hien, Nguyen Thi Minh,Hai, Nguyen Hoang,Hai, Pham Van,Khoi, Nguyen The,Yang, In-Sang John Wiley Sons, Ltd. 2009 JOURNAL OF RAMAN SPECTROSCOPY - Vol.40 No.11
<P>The room-temperature ferromagnetism and the Raman spectroscopy of the Cu-doped Zn1−xCoxO powders prepared by the sol–gel method are reported. The x-ray diffraction (XRD) data confirmed that the wurtzite structure of ZnO is maintained for ZnO doped with Co below 10 at%. The magnetization–field curves measured at room temperature demonstrated that all Co-doped ZnO powders were paramagnetic. Ferromagnetic ordering is observed for the samples doped with Cu in Zn0.98Co0.02O and strongly depends on the concentration of Cu. The relative strength of the second-order LO peak to the first-order one in the Raman spectra, which is related to the carrier concentration, of the Cu-doped Zn0.98Co0.02O powder is strongly correlated with the saturation magnetic moment of the system. This seems to be in favor of the Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida (RKKY) or double exchange mechanism of the ferromagnetism in this system. Steroid Biosynthesis within the Frog Brain : A Model of Neuroendocrine Regulation
Rego, Jean-Luc Do,Seong, Jae Young,Burel, Delphine,Luu-The, Van,Larhammar, Dan,Tsutsui, Kazuyoshi,Pelletier, Georges,Tonon, Marie-Christine,Vaudry, Hubert Wiley (Blackwell Publishing) 2009 Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences Vol.1163 No.1
<P>There is now clear evidence that the brain, similar to the adrenal gland, gonads, and placenta, is a steroidogenic organ. Notably in the frog brain, the presence of various steroidogenic enzymes has been detected by immunohistochemistry in specific populations of neurons and/or glial cells. These steroidogenic enzymes are biologically active, as shown by the ability of brain tissue explants to convert [(3)H]pregnenolone into various radiolabeled steroids. The frog brain has also been extensively used as a model to study the mechanism of regulation of neurosteroidogenesis by neurotransmitters and neuropeptides. It has been demonstrated that the biosynthesis of neurosteroids is inhibited by gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), acting through GABA(A) receptors, and neuropeptide Y, acting through Y1 receptors, and is stimulated by the octadecaneuropeptide (ODN), acting through central-type benzodiazepine receptors, triakontatetraneuropeptide (TTN), acting through peripheral-type benzodiazepine receptors, and vasotocin, acting through V1a-like receptors. These data indicate that some of the neurophysiological effects of neurotransmitters and neuropeptides may be mediated through modulation of neurosteroid biosynthesis.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Neuroactive steroids synthesized in neuronal tissue, referred to as neurosteroids, are implicated in proliferation, differentiation, activity and survival of nerve cells. Neurosteroids are also involved in the control of a number of behavioral, neuroendocrine and metabolic processes such as regulation of food intake, locomotor activity, sexual activity, aggressiveness, anxiety, depression, body temperature and blood pressure. In this article, we summarize the current knowledge regarding the existence, neuroanatomical distribution and biological activity of the enzymes responsible for the biosynthesis of neurosteroids in the brain of vertebrates, and we review the neuronal mechanisms that control the activity of these enzymes. The observation that the activity of key steroidogenic enzymes is finely tuned by various neurotransmitters and neuropeptides strongly suggests that some of the central effects of these neuromodulators may be mediated via the regulation of neurosteroid production.</P>
Are vaginal swabs comparable to cervical smears for human papillomavirus DNA testing?
Liselotte Coorevits,Ans Traen,Luc Bingé,Jo Van Dorpe,Marleen Praet,Jerina Boelens,Elizaveta Padalko 대한부인종양학회 2018 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.29 No.1
Objective: Human papillomavirus (HPV) testing is widely incorporated into cervical cancer screening strategies. Current screening requires pelvic examination for cervical sampling, which may compromise participation. The acceptance could be raised by introducing testing on vaginal swabs. We explored the interchangeability of vaginal swabs and cervical smears for HPV testing, by means of a prospective study conducted in female sex workers (FSWs). Besides, we report on the occurrence of 32 different HPV genotypes in FSW with low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL) or high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL). Methods: Paired physician-collected vaginal swabs and cervical smears from 303 FSW were tested for HPV using the Abbott RealTime High-Risk HPV assay. Cervical cytology was examined on cervical smears. In case of HSIL/LSIL cytological classification (n=52), both samples were genotyped using INNO-LiPa HPV Genotyping Extra II. Results: The overall prevalence of high-risk (HR)-HPV was 51%. In FSW with HSIL/LSIL cervical cytology, the sensitivity and specificity of vaginal samples for the detection of HR-HPV was 100% and 70% and for probable HR-HPV 100% and 91%. The mean number of genotypes identified in vaginal samples (mean=3.5; 95% confidence interval [CI]=2.8–4.2) was significantly higher than in cervical smear samples (mean=2.6; 95% CI=2.1–3.0) (p=0.001). The most frequently encountered HR-HPV genotypes were HPV16, 31, 51, and 52. Conclusion: As our study shows that vaginal swabs are equivalent to cervical smears for the detection of (probable) HR-HPV, vaginal swabs can be used for HPV testing in cervical cancer screening strategies. Given the acceptance of vaginal sampling, this finding offers an opportunity to boost screening coverage.

Car-pedestrian accidents take thousands of lives worldwide annually. Therefore, pedestrian protection is an important issue in traffic safety. How to consider a pedestrian friendliness vehicle and then propose pedestrian protection methods are urgent works for minimizing pedestrian injury. For designing a pedestrian friendly vehicle bumper, this study adopts the European Enhanced Vehicle-safety Committee/ Working Group 17 (EEVC/WG17) regulations of legform impactor to bumper tests. Analyzing the pedestrian friendliness of a vehicle bumper by using LS-DYNA is described in detail. Simulation results were analyzed to identify the reasons for the unfriendliness. Furthermore, the analysis of the influence of bumper structure on pedestrian leg was performed and then some guideline was suggested. The analyzed models and results obtained could help evaluate pedestrian friendliness of a vehicle and guide the future development of pedestrian friendly vehicle technologies.

Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of diets containing different wet rice distillers' by-product (RDP) levels on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, blood profiles and gut microbiome of weaned piglets. Methods: A total of 48 weaned castrated male crossbred pigs, initial body weight 7.54±0.97 kg, and age about 4 wks, were used in this experiment. The piglets were randomly allocated into three iso-nitrogenous diet groups that were fed either a control diet, a diet with 15% RDP, or a diet with 30% RDP for a total of 35 days. Chromium oxide was used for apparent digestibility measurements. On d 14 and d 35, half of the piglets were randomly selected for hemato-biochemical and gut microbiota evaluations. Results: Increasing inclusion levels of RDP tended to linearly increase (p≤0.07) average daily gain on d 14 and d 35, and decreased (p = 0.08) feed conversion ratio on d 35. Empty stomach weight increased (p = 0.03) on d 35 while digestibility of diet components decreased. Serum globulin concentration decreased on d 14 (p = 0.003) and red blood cell count tended to decrease (p = 0.06) on d 35, parallel to increase RDP levels. Gene amplicon profiling of 16S rRNA revealed that the colonic microbiota composition of weaned pigs changed by inclusion of RDP over the period. On d 14, decreased proportions of Lachnospiraceae_ge, Ruminococcaceae_ge, Ruminococcaceae_UCG-005, and Bacteroidales_ge, and increased proportions of Prevotellaceae_ge, Prevotella_2, and Prevotella_9 were found with inclusion of RDP, whereas opposite effect was found on d 35. Additionally, the proportion of Lachnospiraceae_ge, Ruminococcaceae_ge, Ruminococcaceae_UCG-005, and Bacteroidales_ge in RDP diets decreased over periods in control diet but increased largely in diet with 30% RDP. Conclusion: These results indicate that RDP in a favorable way modulate gastrointestinal microbiota composition and improve piglet performance despite a negative impact on digestibility of lipids and gross energy.
