We report a new measurement of the exclusive e(+) e(-) -> D-(*()+/-)*D--/+ cross sections as a function of the center-of-mass energy from the D-(*D-)+/-*(-/+) threshold through root s = 6.0 GeV, using the initial-state radiation technique. The analysis is based on a data sample collected with the Belle detector with an integrated luminosity of 951 fb(-1). The accuracy of the cross section measurement is increased by a factor of 2 over the first Belle study. We perform the first angular analysis of the e(+) e(-) -> D*D-+/-*(-/+) process and decompose this exclusive cross section into three components corresponding to the D * helicities.

We report a measurement of the ratio R(D*) = B((B) over bar (0) -> D*(+)tau(-)(nu) over bar (tau))/B((B) over bar (0) -> D*(+)l(-)(nu) over bar (l))where l denotes an electron or a muon. The results are based on a data sample containing 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs recorded at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider. We select a sample of B-0(B) over bar (0) pairs by reconstructing both B mesons in semileptonic decays to D*(-/+)l(+/-). We measure R(D*) = 0.302 +/- 0.030(stat) +/- 0.011(syst), which is within 1.6 sigma of the Standard Model theoretical expectation, where the standard deviation sigma includes systematic uncertainties. We use this measurement to constrain several scenarios of new physics in a model-independent approach.

With the full data sample of 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs recorded by the Belle detector at the KEKB electron-positron collider, the decay (B) over bar -> D+ tau(-)(nu) over bar (tau) is studied with the hadronic tau decays tau(-) -> pi(-)nu(tau) and tau(-) -> rho(-)nu(tau). The tau polarization P-tau(D*) in two-body hadronic tau decays is measured, as well as the ratio of the branching fractions R(D*) = B((B) over bar -> D*tau(-) (nu) over bar (tau))/B((B) over bar -> D*l(-) (nu) over bar (l),where l(-) denotes an electron or a muon. Our results, P-tau (D*) = - 0.38 +/- 0.51(stat)(+0.21)(-0.16) (syst) and R(D*) = 0.270 +/- 0.035(stat)(+0.028)(-0.025)(syst), are consistent with the theoretical predictions of the standard model. The polarization values of P-tau(D*) > +0.5 are excluded at the 90% confidence level.

We perform a full amplitude analysis of the process e(+)e(-)-> J/psi D (D) over bar, where D refers to either D-0 or D+. A new charmoniumlike state X*(3860) that decays to D (D) over bar is observed with a significance of 6.5 sigma. Its mass is (3862(-32)(+26) (+40)(-13) )MeV= c(2), and its width is (201(-67) (+154)(-82) (+88)) MeV. The J(PC) = 0(++) hypothesis is favored over the 2(++) hypothesis at the level of 2.5s. The analysis is based on the 980 fb(-1) data sample collected by the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-)collider KEKB.

The influence of the hydrostatic pressure P up to 0.95 GPa on the excess conductivity s0(T) and the pseudogap D*(T) in optimally doped YBa2Cu3O7d single crystals (Tc x 91.1 K at ambient pressure) is investigated by electrical resistivity measurements. A pronounced enhancement of the pseudogap under pressure of dlnD*/dP z 0.32, which is only a factor of 1.12 smaller than in slightly doped single crystals, is revealed for the first time. This implies a somewhat more moderate increase of the coupling strength in optimally doped cuprates with increasing pressure. Simultaneously, the ratio 2D*(Tc)/kBTc z 5 at P ¼ 0 GPa, which is typical for high-temperature superconductors with strong coupling, increases by 16% with increasing pressure. At the same time, the pressure effect on Tc is minor: dTc/dP z þ0.73 K GPa1, whereas dlnr/dP z (17 ± 0.2)% GPa1 is comparable with that in lightly doped YBCO single crystals. This suggests that the mechanisms of the pressure effect on r(T) and Tc are noticeably different. Independently of pressure, near Tc, s0(T) is well described by the Aslamazov-Larkin (3D-AL) and 2D Hikami- Larkin fluctuation theories, exhibiting a 3De2D crossover with increasing temperature. However, the temperature interval Tc < T < T01, in which s0(T) obeys the classical fluctuation theories, is exceptionally narrow (z1.16 K). Nevertheless, a peculiarity at the temperature T01, up to which the wave function phase stiffness in the superconductor is maintained, is clearly observed in the dependence D*(T). Below T01 a fast growth of D*(T) is revealed for the first time. It can be associated with a sudden increase of the superfluid density, ns, that is the density of fluctuating Cooper pairs (short-range phase correlations) forming in the sample when T approaches Tc.

We report the first observation of the radiative charm decay D-0 -> rho(0)gamma and the first search for CP violation in decays D-0 -> rho(0)gamma, phi gamma, and (K) over bar (*0)(892)gamma, using a data sample of 943 fb(-1) collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. The branching fraction is measured to be B(D-0 -> rho(0)gamma) = (1.77 +/- 0.30 +/- 0.07) x 10(-5), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The obtained CP asymmetries A(CP)(D-0 ->rho(0)gamma) = +0.056 +/- 0.152 +/- 0.006, A(CP)(D-0 -> phi gamma) = -0.094 +/- 0.066 +/- 0.001, and A(CP)(D-0 -> (K) over bar (*0) gamma = -0.003 +/- 0.020 +/- 0.000 are consistent with no CP violation. We also present an improved measurement of the branching fractions B(D-0 -> phi gamma) = (2.76 +/- 0.19 +/- 0.10) x 10(-5) and B(D-0 -> (K) over bar (*0) gamma = (4.66 +/- 0.21 +/- 0.21) x 10(-4).

This work demonstrates the results of full-scale numerical experiments of a hybrid thorium-containing fuel plant operating in a state close to critical due to a controlled source of D-T neutrons. The proposed facility represented a level of generated power (~10-100 MWt) in a small pilot. In this work, the simulation of the D-T neutron plasma source operation in conjunction with the facility blanket was performed. The fission of fuel nuclei and the formation of spatial-energy release were studied in this simulation, in pulsed and stationary modes of the facility operation. The optimization results of neutronic and fluid dynamics studies to level the emerging offsets of the radial energy formed in the volume of the facility multiplying part due to the pulsed operation of the D-T neutron plasma source were presented. The results will be useful in improving the power control-based subcriticality monitoring method in coupled systems of the "pulsed neutron source-subcritical fuel assembly" type.

We report a measurement of the CP-violation parameter phi(1) obtained in a time-dependent analysis of B-0 -> (D) over bar(*)(0)h(0) decays followed by (D) over bar (0) -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi decay. A model-independent measurement is performed using the binned Dalitz plot technique. The measured value is phi(1) = 11.7 degrees +/- 7.8 degrees(stat) +/- 2.1 degrees (syst). Treating sin 2 phi(1) and cos 2 phi(1) as independent parameters, we obtain sin 2 phi(1) = 0.43 +/- 0.27(stat) +/- 0.08(syst) and cos 2 phi(1) = 1.06 +/- 0.33(stat)(-0.15)(+0.21)(syst).
We present a measurement of the branching fractions and charge- parity-( CP-) violating parameters in B..K decays. The results are obtained from the final data sample containing 772 x 10(6) BB _ pairs collected at the.d4S_ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric- energy e_e- collider. We obtain the branching fractions BdB0 0 _d4.5 0.4dstat_ 0.3dsyst_x10- 6; BdB_..K__ d6.80.4dstat_ 0.4dsyst__x10- 6 which are in agreement with their respective current world averages. For the CP- violating parameters, we obtain A.K0 S - 0.36 +/- 0.19dstat_ 0.05dsyst_; S.K0 S _0.91 0.32dstat_ 0.05dsyst_; A.K_ - 0.03 +/- 0.04dstat_ 0.01dsyst_; where A and S represent the direct and mixing- induced CP asymmetry, respectively. We find no evidence of CP violation in the decay channel B_..K_; however, we obtain the first evidence of CP violation in the B0..K0 S decay channel at the level of 3.1 standard deviations.
