A GUI DESIGN GUIDELINE TO CONSTRUCT MENTAL MODELS EASILY (p.221-224)
Toshiki Yamaoka 대한인간공학회 2012 대한인간공학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2012 No.5
The design guideline to construct the mental model was proposed. The guideline was constructed from the viewpoint of the functional model and the structural model of mental model. And it was examined based on structure mapping theory. The guideline was described from the viewpoint of the design principles between screens and on screens. The guideline was evaluated for the validation. 7 UI designers and 22 usability engineers in Japan participated in the test for the guideline. The results were evaluated highly , however the concrete description and examples were pointed out to be needed.

In this paper we introduce a new concept, a \period-icizing" function for the linear dierential equation with the peri-odic forcing function. Moreover, we construct this function, whichis closely related with the solution of a dierence equation and anindenite sum. Using this function, we can obtain a representationof solutions from which we see immediately the asymptotic behaviorof the solutions.
Raman Spectroscopic Observation of Degradation of Li-ion Battery Electrodes
( Toshiki Suzuki ),( Shigeakimorita ),( Kuniyukikitagawa ) 경남대학교 신소재연구소 2012 신소재연구 Vol.24 No.-
Currently, people have more eco-consciousness, and are interested in environmentally-friendly systems and energy-saving society. Secondary batteries are used for energy storage devices using energy with high efficiency as exemplified by hybrid cars. In this regard, lithium-ion secondary batteries have attracted much attention, because their high energy density. Degradation of the electrodes through electrolyte ion intercalation has become recognized as a serious problem for the stability and lifetime of lithium-ion batteries. For solving this problem, measurements of the electrode degradation are needed. In this study, we applied Laser Raman micro-spectrometry to observe the change carbon morphology caused by the degradation. This method requires no sample pretreatment but only irradiating the sample with a laser beam. Lithium ion secondary batteries are required to be sealed under an inert gas to prevent Li ignition. For this reason, we newly designed a measurement cell to allow irradiating the carbon electrode with a laser and measuring under an inert gas. (Figure 1)

Objective: We performed a retrospective observational study to demonstrate the surgical risks and long-term prognoses of intramedullary tumors in Japan using a multicenter registry authorized by the Neurospinal Society of Japan. Methods: Data from 1,033 consecutive patients with intramedullary tumors, treated between 2009 and 2020, were collected from 58 centers. Patients with spinal lipomas or myxopapillary ependymomas were excluded. Patient characteristics, clinical presentations, imaging characteristics, treatments, and outcomes were analyzed. The modified McCormick scale was used to classify functional status. Survival was described using Kaplan-Meier curves, and multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed. Results: The mean age of the patients was 48.4 years. Data of 361 ependymomas, 196 hemangioblastomas, 168 astrocytic tumors, 160 cavernous malformations, and the remaining 126 cases including subependymomas, metastases, schwannomas, capillary hemangiomas, and intravascular B-cell lymphomas were analyzed. Twenty-two patients were undiagnosed. The mean follow-up duration was 46.1 ± 38.5 months. Gross total tumor removal was achieved in 672 tumors (65.1%). On the modified McCormick scale, 234 patients (22.7%) had worse postoperative grades at the time of discharge. However, neurological status gradually improved. At 6 months postoperatively, 251 (27.5%), 500 (54.9%), and 160 patients (17.6%) had improved, unchanged, and worsened grades, respectively. Preoperative functional status, gross total tumor removal, and histopathological type were significantly associated with mortality and functional outcomes. Conclusion: Our findings demonstrate better postoperative functional outcomes in patients with fewer preoperative neurological deficits. Degree of resection, postoperative treatments, and prognoses are closely related to the histology of intramedullary tumors.
Advanced Rotation-Invariant Feature Detection Method for Pedestrian Recognition
Toshiki Yahiro,Kousuke Matsushima 대한전자공학회 2017 대한전자공학회 학술대회 Vol.2017 No.1
In the technology of Advanced Safety Vehicle (ASV), pedestrian detection is an important element. There are techniques using image features and classifiers, but pedestrian regions often include various poses such as rotation. That’s why we cannot always get similar feature values for the same features. The rotation-invariant Histogram of Oriented Gradients(RI-HOG) is a candidate to solve this problem, but this method is not highly accurate because it is not optimized for pedestrian detection. Accordingly, we improved calculating method of the RI-HOG for pedestrian detection and compared this proposed method with the conventional method. As a result, recognition rate was turned from 57.50% to 89.56%.
A universal design method using 3 Point task analysis and 9 universal design items
( Toshiki Yamaoka ) 한국감성과학회 2002 춘계학술대회 Vol.2002 No.-
In order to examine universal design, 1 have developed two analytical methodologies based on 3P(point) task analysis: structured task analysis and task matrix analysis. I also extracted nine universal design items, namely (1) adjustment, (2) redundancy, (3) specification and function transparency, (4) feedback and (5) error tolerance, (6) effective acquisition of information, (7) ease of understanding and judgment, (8) comfortable operation, and (9) continuity of information and operation. Structured task analysis is used to uncover problems in each of the tasks constituting a job for each functionally challenged condition of users, and solutions to the extracted problems are examined in terms of the above-mentioned nine universal design items. Task matrix analysis calls for the production of a table for each task in a job. In each table, nine items form the columns, and the horizontal rows list all disability types. Then, solutions are formulated for each cell formed by the intersecting columns and rows. Using these two analysis methods, 1 have conducted a verification experiment for the universal design of a public bus. The results of the research have enabled me to propose various ,solutions from a system-based perspective, instead of coming up with the superficial and isolated solutions which are normally produced when conventional analytical methods are used.
