The present study was performed to optimize the modified aloe polysaccharide (MAP) foaming process and to determine the effect of drying process parameters on the quality of obtained MAP powder. The studied process parameters were glycerol monostearate (GMS), carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), and whipping time (WT) which was varied between 1 and 4% w/v, 0.1–0.5% w/v, and 1–5 min, respectively. The optimized values of foaming process parameters were 3.87% GMS, 0.39% CMC, and 4.89 min WT with a desirability of 0.889. The optimized foamed MAP juice was dried at different foam thicknesses (FT) (1, 3, and 5 mm) and drying temperatures (DT) (50, 60, and 70 °C) to develop MAP powder and compared with non-foamed aloe powder developed under the same drying condition. Based on functional properties, the best GMS foamed MAP powder was achieved at 50 °C DT and 1 mm FT, recording powder yield (16%), solubility (20.85%), and polysaccharide content (282 mg/L).
L-Fuzzy Gradation of Openness and L-Fuzzy Gradation of Proximity

In this paper we study lattice valued fuzzy gradation of openness so that fuzzy gradation of openness [13] could be obtained as a particular case. Some of its properties are studied. We also give denitions of lattice valued graded fuzzy filters, graded fuzzy grills, graded fuzzy preproximities and proximities.
A New Species of the Genus Copidognathus (Halacaridae: Acari) from India

Copidognathus bengalensis n. sp. is described from Visakhapatnam coast, Bay of Bengal, India. The present species is characterized by posterodorsal plate (PD) with four costae made up of porose panels, subdivided posterior cornea of ocular plate (OC), and two pairs of basirostral setae in female. This species is related to C. pulcher group, but the nature of porose panels on anterior areolae of anterior dorsal plate (AD) and the setal ornamentation of legs were different between the members of C. pulcher group and the present new species.

This study was designed to adopt two estrus synchronization protocols in zebu and crossbred heifers and their effects on pregnancy rate after timed artificial insemination (TAI). A number of 120 cyclic heifers were allotted for two different treatment groups and one control group. Heifers under protocol A were injected with GnRH at first day followed by a single dose of PGF2α at Day 11 and injection of GnRH at the day of AI; and heifers belonged to protocol B were treated with GnRH, two PGF_(2α) injections at 11 days apart and injection of GnRH at AI. AI was done at fixed time (within 72~96 hours after PGF_(2α) injection) in both protocols and pregnancy was confirmed by rectal palpation on 80~120 days of post AI. In control group; local heifers were conceived higher (30%) proportion than that of crossbred heifers (25%; p<0.05). In protocol A, the local breed were conceived higher (38.9%) proportion compared with crossbred (25%; p<0.05). In protocol B, local breed heifers were conceived higher (38.9%) proportion compared with crossbred heifers (33.3%; p<0.05). The overall pregnancy rate in protocol A and protocol B was 33.3% and 36.6%, respectively. The proportion of pregnancy rate of local heifers (38.9%; Protocol A) was significant (p<0.05) in comparison with local heifers (30%) in control group (p<0.05). The overall pregnancy rate between pooled control group (28.3%) and treatment group (35%) was significantly (p<0.05) differ from each other’s. Results of present study concluded that estrus synchronization followed by fixed time AI could be applied for higher pregnancy rate in zebu and crossbred heifers
Quantifying the dominant factors in Cu catalyst deactivation during glycerol hydrogenolysis

Long term stability of a commercial Cu-based glycerol hydrogenolysis catalyst has been studied in an isothermal trickle-bed reactor at 473–503 K in the presence of impurities, such as S, Cl and glycerides. While glycerides have the least effect on the catalytic activity, the increase in the extent of deactivation with temperature as a consequence of thiophene indicates a kinetic rather than a thermodynamic adsorption effect. The threshold driven, ‘sudden’ manner in which deactivation manifests itself in case of Cl is indicative of sintering. A deactivation model accounting for the activity loss with changing concentration of impurities and temperature, was constructed.
A Study on Fuzzy Topology Associated with a Lattice

A New Single Phase Multilevel Inverter Topology with Two-step Voltage Boosting Capability

In this paper, a new single phase multilevel inverter topology with a single DC source is presented. The proposed topology is developed based on the concepts of the L-Z source inverter and the switched capacitor multilevel inverter. The input voltage to the proposed inverter is boosted by two steps: the first step by an impedance network and the second step by switched capacitor units. Compared to other existing topologies, the presented topology can produce a higher boosted multilevel output voltage while using a smaller number of components. In addition, it provides more flexibility to control boosting factor, size, cost and complexity of the inverter. The proposed inverter possesses all the advantages of the L-Z source inverter and the switched capacitor multilevel inverter like controlling the start-up inrush current and capacitor voltage balancing using a simple switching strategy. The operating principle and general expression for the different parameters of the proposed topology are presented in detail. A phase disposition pulse width modulation strategy has been developed to switch the inverter. The effectiveness of the topology is verified by extensive simulation and experimental studies on a 7-level inverter structure.

This study presents a novel step-up switched capacitor multilevel inverter (SCMLI) structure. The proposed structure comprises 2 unequal DC voltage sources, 4 capacitors, and 14 unidirectional power switches. It can synthesize 21 output voltage levels. The important features of the proposed topology are its self-voltage boosting and inherent capacitor voltage balancing capabilities. Furthermore, a cascaded structure of the proposed SCMLI with an asymmetric DC voltage source configuration is presented. The proposed topology and its cascaded structure are compared with conventional and other recently developed topologies in terms of different aspects, such as the required components to produce a specific number of output voltage levels, the total standing voltage (TSV) and peak inverse voltage of the structure, and the maximum number of switches in the conducting path. Furthermore, a cost function is developed to verify the cost-effectiveness of the proposed topology with respect to other topologies. The TSV of the proposed topology is significantly lower than those of other topologies. Moreover, the developed topology is cost-effective compared with other topologies. A detailed operating principle, power loss analysis, and selection procedure for switched capacitors are presented for the proposed SCMLI structure. Extensive simulation and experimental studies of a 21-level inverter structure prove the effectiveness and merits of the proposed SCMLI.
