      • HPV Infection and Cervical Abnormalities in HIV Positive Women in Different Regions of Brazil, a Middle-Income Country

        Human papillomavirus is a virus that is distributed worldwide, and persistent infection with high-risk genotypes (HR-HPV) is considered the most important factor for the development of squamous cell cervical carcinoma (SCC). However, by itself, it is not sufficient, and other factors may contribute to the onset and progression of lesions. For example, infection with other sexually transmitted diseases such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) may be a factor. Previous studies have shown the relationship between HPV infection and SCC development among HIV-infected women in many regions of the world, with great emphasis on low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Brazil is considered a LMIC and has great disparities across different regions. The purpose of this review was to highlight the current knowledge about HPV infection and cervical abnormalities in HIV+ women in Brazil because this country is an ideal setting to evaluate HIV impact on SCC development and serves as model of LMICs and low-resource settings.

        Relationship between Body Mass Index and Complications during the First 45 Days after Primary Total Hip and Knee Replacement: A Single-Center Study from South America

        Background: The goal of this study was to evaluate the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and early complications of total hip replacement (THR) and total knee replacement (TKR). Methods: This is a retrospective study of patients who underwent primary THR and TKR between January 2011 and December 2015. We included patients between 18 and 90 years of age with BMI less than 40 kg/m2 with a minimal postoperative follow-up time of 45 days. The primary outcomes were the presence of infection, mechanical complications (dislocation, fractures, arthrofibrosis, or neuropraxia), and thromboembolic events. Overweight and obesity were defined as a BMI of 25–29.9 kg/m2 and ≥ 30 kg/m2, respectively. Results: In total 750 patients were included (THR, 268; TKR, 482) with a mean age of 65.0 ± 12.4 years. The percentage of patients with normal weight, overweight, and obesity was 24.9% (n = 187), 41.7% (n = 313), and 33.4% (n = 250), respectively. The early complication rate was 8.9% (95% confidence interval [CI], 7.1% to 11.2%). Infection and mechanical complications were most prevalent. There was no statistically significant relationship between the incidence of complications and BMI (obesity vs. normal weight: hazard ratio [HR], 1.49; 95% CI, 0.72 to 3.06; p = 0.282); however, there was a tendency toward a greater risk of infectious complications in the patients with obesity (HR, 6.08; 95% CI, 0.75 to 49.16; p = 0.090). Patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) had more risk of infectious complications than those without DM (HR, 2.60; 95% CI, 1.00 to 6.79). Conclusions: There was no statistical relationship between BMI and early complications of THR and TKR. Nonetheless, there was a tendency toward a higher risk of infection in patients with some degree of obesity.

        A Systematic Literature Review on Lean Office

        With the increasing competition in the market, organizations have sought solutions to improve their operational performance. In this context, the application of the Lean Manufacturing principles has increased, also extending to nonmanufacturing areas, such as offices, where it received the name Lean Office (LO). The objectives of this research were to identify what are the main difficulties in LO implementations, propose a classification system and sort the collected literature. This research covered a period of study from the appearance of the first article on LO (2005), until the year before the end of this review (2016). It is methodologically characterized as systematic literature review, theoretical, exploratory, with qualitative and quantitative approach. The findings of this paper show that main difficulties encountered in the LO implementations are related to technical and cultural areas. This paper provides a better knowledge of LO literature, a LO implementations profile, and valuable support for new researches in this area.

        Korean Education as a Foreign Language for College Students in Japan Based on Applied Linguistics

        The studies about "language and culture/society" and "language and psychology" are important matters in the area of FL (foreign language) education which aims at communicative competence in applied linguistics. (Okada, 1999; Park & Nakano, 2000; Saeki, 2002). Korean learning increased suddenly from around 2002 in Japan. Korean courses in Japanese colleges also increased (International Cultural Forum 2003). As a result, requirements for a fuller Korean education are increasing. However, although there are a lot of studies about linguistic approaches, it is difficult to find any studies about Korean education as a FL which focus on "language and culture/society" aimed at communicative competence. The purpose of this study is to analyze the actual learning situation vis-a-vis learning motivation, textbooks, and the pursuit of effective college Korean education in Japan aiming at communicative competence by applying the studies on psycholinguistics (Park, 1991, 1998), and sociolinguistics (Park, 1991; Hall, 1983). This paper is likely to be the first one of its kind in Japan to discuss the Korean language as a FL for Japanese students aimed at communicative competence.

        대학형 일학습병행제 선행경험학습인정 도입과 고려사항

        본 연구에서는 코리아텍 사례를 바탕으로 대학형 일학습병행제에 선행경험학습인정을 도입하기 위한 실질적인 준비 과정과 그 결과물을 분석하고 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다. 또한 선행경험학습인정과 관련된 국내외 선행 연구 및 사례들을 종합적으로 정리함으로써 국내 다른 교육기관들이 선행경험학습인정을 도입하고자 할 때 고려해야 할 사항들에 대한 이해를 높이고자 하였다. 본 사례 연구 결과를 바탕으로 보다 많은 교육기관들의 성공적인 선행경험학습인정 정착을 위해 필요한 제도적 지원, 문화적 지원, 대학 내부의 지원 방안을 제안하였다. The purpose of this study is to analyze the actual preparation process and outcomes of applying RPL in University Dual System based on KOREATECH’s case. A comprehensive literature review on prior research and cases was described in this study to assist Korean educational institutions who might be interested in adopting RPL into their organizations. Furthermore, three different levels of support were suggested based on the results of this study for successful adoption of RPL in Korea. Support from national system level, sociocultural level, and university level should be considered carefully for the success of RPL.

      • MICE 개최지 이미지-일치/불일치 패러다임에 따른 만족도 연구 : 기대불일치 이론을 중심으로

        기대 일치, 불일치 이론을 바탕으로 2015년 한국 MICE 행사에 참석한 참관객을 대상으로 참가 전의 이미지인 기대 이미지(Expected image)와 후의 이미지인 지각된 성과 이미지(Perceived performed image)를 비교하여 이미지 일치, 불일치 그룹으로 구분하여, 그룹별 차이에 대해 알아보았다. 기대 이미지와 지각된 성과 이미지가 일치 그룹과 불일치 그룹, 불일치 그룹 다시 긍정적 불일치와 부정적 불일치 그룹으로 구분 후, 각각의 그룹 내 참관객의 목적지에 대한 만족도, 목적지에 대한 재방문의도, 그리고 목적지에 대한 추천 의도간의 관계와 영향력을 검증하였다. 세가지 만족도 이론을 바탕으로 기본 요인, 재미 요인, 성과 요인으로 구분하였고, 각각의 만족도 요인이 재방문 의도와 추천 의도에 미치는 영향에 대해 세 그룹의 차이를 검증한 결과, 재미 요인이 재방문 의도에 미치는 영향에서 부정적 불일치 그룹과 긍정적 불일치 그룹간에 통계적인 차이가 있었으며, 일치 그룹과 긍정적 불일치 그룹간에 재미 만족도가 재방문 의도에 미치는 영향에서 서로 다르다는 것을 통계적으로 확인하였다. 본 연구는 기대와 성과를 비교하는 기대 일치/불일치 이론을 MICE 산업 현실에 적용하여 이미지 일치/불일치 개념으로 이론적 확장을 시도하였다는 시사점을 갖는다.

        The Complement of Destination and Convention Relationship: Applying Balance Theory

        This study aims to investigate the triangular relationship among of convention satisfaction, destination satisfaction, and consequently on destination loyalty. As the convention is held through intense competition, meeting the satisfaction of attendees is considered the most successful criteria in the convention industry. However, for the continuous development of the convention industry, the triangular relationship, which are the satisfaction of the destination through the satisfaction of the convention, and ultimately the royalty for the destination, should be intimately pertained. The interconnection between the convention and the venue is ‘Kill two birds with one stone’: satisfaction for convention participants, successful hosting of the convention organization, and enhancing the value of the destination. Therefore, in this study, empirical studies on the purpose of this study were conducted based on three factors of satisfaction theory and balance theory. This research employed foreigner data among the secondary data collected by Korean Tourism Organization(KTO) for the attendees in international conventions held in Korea in 2015. s a result, the influence of three factors has been verified in this study, which suggests that satisfying convention participants could be the basis for successful convention hosting and one way to increase the sustainability of the destination.

        온라인 PBL이 학습자의 4C 역량에 미치는 영향에 관한 사례 연구

        본 논문의 목적은 온라인 PBL(Problem Based Learning)이 학습자의 4C 역량과 학습 경험에 미치는 영향을 탐색하는 것이다. 연구 결과 첫째, 온라인 PBL이 학습자의 문제해결능력, 의사소통능력, 예비교사효능감에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학습자들은 온라인 PBL 경험에 매우 만족했으며, 학습과 예비교사로서의 자신에게 매우 도움이 된다고 인식했다. 셋째, 학습자들은 실시간 화상회의 시스템과 메신저가 온라인 PBL을 성공적으로 수행하는 데 매우 도움이 된다고 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 온라인 PBL을 성공적으로 수행하기 위한 중요요인에 대해 본 연구 참여자들은 의사소통과 성실성이 매우 중요하다고 인식하고 있었고, 리더의 역할도 중요하지만 팀원 간의 개인적 친밀도는 상대적으로 덜 중요하다고 인식하고 있었다. 다섯째, 학습자들은 온라인 PBL을 성공적으로 수행하기 위해서는 교수자의 피드백이 매우 중요하다고 인식하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 시사점과 함께 향후 연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다. The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact of online problem-based learning (PBL) on learners’ 4C competencies and learning experience. The results of the study showed that, first, online PBL had a statistically significant effect on learners’ problem-solving skills, communication skills, and pre-service teacher efficacy. Second, learners were very satisfied with the online PBL experience and perceived it to be very beneficial to their learning and to themselves as preservice teachers. Third, learners perceived that the real-time video conferencing system and instant messenger were very helpful for successful online PBL. Fourth, regarding the important factors for successful online PBL, the participants in this study perceived that communication and sincerity are very important, and the role of the leader is also important, but personal intimacy among team members is relatively less important. Fifth, learners perceive that instructor feedback is very important for successful online PBL. Finally, the implications of this study are discussed along with suggestions for future research.
