Germination of Styrax japonicus seeds is promoted by warm stratification (WS) at 18-20°C followed by cold stratification (CS) at 4-5℃. The objective of this work was to analyze the state and mobility of water molecules measured by 1H-NMR and endogenous gibberellins (GAs) and abscisic acid (ABA) by ultra performance liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) as influenced by WS and CS treatments had not previously been investigated. Styrax seeds that received 35 days of WS (35D WS) followed by 63 days of CS (63D CS) (35D WS + 63D CS) germinated. Seeds that received only 35D WS failed to germinate. Endogenous GA_1, GA_8, GA_(19), GA_(20), and GA_(53) were identified as well as GA_(17), GA_(23), GA_(28), GA_(29), and GA_(97) by gas chromatography/MS (GC/MS) and UPLC-MS/MS in seeds that were treated with warm and cold stratification (WS + CS). This suggests that the early C-13 hydroxylation pathway [-GA_(53)-(GA_(44))-GA_(19)-GA_(20)-GA_1-GA_8] of GAs is a major biosynthetic pathway in the seeds. The concentration of GA_(53) and GA_(19) increased following WS and that of GA_(53) increased after WS + CS. The concentration of GA_(19) increased only slightly after WS + CS. The concentration of GA1 increased only after WS + CS. ABA concentration significantly decreased following the WS treatment. It is concluded that the mobility of water molecules and water content in cotyledons and endosperm is increased following WS + CS treatments. The occurrence of C-13 hydroxylated GAs suggests that the early C-13 hydroxylation pathway, → GA_(53) → GA_(44) → GA_(19) → GA_(20) → GA_1 → GA_8, is a major biosynthetic pathway in Styrax seeds.
Structual and Magnetic Properties of MFe2O4 (M=Ni, Mg) Nano Hollow Spheres

Sub-micrometer-sized hollow spheres assembled from MFe2O4 (M= Ni, Mg) nanoparticles havebeen prepared by using the template method with a wet chemical process. A superparamagnetictypeblocking process is observed in the zero-field-cooled (ZFC) and the field-cooled (FC) magnetizationsand magnentic susceptibilities. Furthermore, a spin-glass-like behavior due to surfacespin freezing is found in Ni-ferrite nanoparticles. The surface spin freezing temperatures Tf arequite a bit lower than the blocking temperature, and the magnetic field dependence is differentbetween the nanoparticles and the fabricated hollow spheres. The spin-glass nature of the Ni-ferritenanoparticle is demonstrated by the magnetice field dependence of Tf following the well knownAlmeida-Thouless (AT) line. In contrast, the Tf(H) of the hollow Ni-ferrite sphere hints at failureof the Gabay-Toulouse theory as well as the AT theory.
Redundancy of the Giant Swing Backward Movement on the High Bar

Extent of redundancy in human movements under nonholonomic constraints can be an important factor to detemince a resulting movement. However, the redundancy has seldom been examined concretely in previous studies concerning optimality of human movements under such constraints. This study focuses on a gymnastic movement on the high bar, called "giant swing backward", as and almost periodic task under a second order nonholonomic constraint, and reveals a part of redundancy of the task by extending our prvious study. To this end, a simple dynamical model of an expert gymnast performing the giant swing back ward is constructed with parameterization of time histories of actuated joint angles by Fourier serires, and is confirmed to approximately reproduce a measured movement of the gymnast. The redundancy is calculated in various parameter spaces composed of lower order fourier coefficients. The results illustrate restricted but considerable redundancy underlying the giant swing backward. Moreover, within the set of the redundant movements, four kinds of optimization citeria are examined to explain the movement performed by the gymnast.

In this paper, we propose a diagnostic pattern selection method for Resistive Open Faults (RoFs) to handle the excessive power supply noise caused by IR drop. The main idea of the method is to sort out the risky patterns denoted by the detection patterns of the RoFs whose longest sensitized path have high IR drop from a pre-generated test set, and then generates the diagnostic patterns for RoFs by performing x-identification and xfilling process on the risky patterns. The originality of the method is to introduce the Simulated Annealing optimization algorithm to explore the best x-filling for the risky patterns. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.
