N/A Background : In Korean traditional medicine, human beings are classified into 4 groups accordance with the characteristics of physical constitution, named ; Taeum, Taeyang, Soum, and Soyang. Most of Korean traditional doctors believe that the back ground of pathophysiology is differ among each group in many diseases. HLA is the most polymorphic gene and related with human immune response. It has been used for determination of individual identification, genetic diversity and a study of disease association in different ethnic group. It has well known that the most human inflammatory disease which thought to have some autoimmune basis are in some way promoted by genes of the HLA region. The purpose of this study is to observe the distribution of HLA-DR genotypes in 4 types of physical constitution in Korean traditional medicine. Methods : Three hundred and ten Korean subjects(Soyang : 58cases, Soum :142cases, Taeum : 92cases, Taeyang : 18cases) were enrolled for this study. Genomic DNAs extracted by phenol/chroloform were amplified with allele specific primers and determined by 2% agarose gel electrophoresis with ethidium bromide staining for analysis of HLA-DR polymorphism. Results : The genotype frequency of HLA-DR in a total or 310 Koreans was DR1 ; 7.2%, DR 2; 10.5%, DR 3;1.7%, DR 4; 19.9%, DR 5; 11.9%, DR 6;19.9%, DR 7; 7.0%, DR 8; 10.6%, DR 9; 8.7%, DR10;1.9%. There was no significant diffrence of HLA-DR genotype distribution among four physical constitution groups classified by Korean traditional medicine. Conclusion : Our results suggest that the classification of physical constitution in Korean traditional medicine is not related to HLA-DR genotypes.(Korean J Med 58:91-101, 2000)
Supersonic Free Jet and Ab initio Studies of Electronic-Vibrational Structures of Fluorene
Boo, Bong Hyun,Choi, Young Sik,Kim, Taek-Soo,Kang, Sung Kwon,Kim, Jae Ryong 충남대학교 기초과학연구소 1995 연구논문집 Vol.15 No.-
Laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) excitation spectra were measured for fluorene (FR) cooled in pulse supersonic expansions of He in the range 283.7-296.7 nm. Ab initio studies of FR have also been carried out for determining the electronic and vibrational structures by using the standard 3-21G basis sets. In the LIF excitation spectra of FR, highly resolved vibronic bands are observed having the band origin of 33,791 cm^-1. The vibrational bands above the electronic origin were assigned on the basis of the well-characterized electronic vibrational bands reported previously and of normal modes of vibrations derived by our HF/3-21G calculations.
Ab initio and Spectroscopic Studies of Bis(4,4-dimethyl-2,5-cyclohexadiene-1-ylidene)
Boo, Bong Hyun,Kang, Sung Kwon,Choi, Young Sik,Kim, Taek-Soo,Seo, Hye Young 충남대학교 기초과학연구소 1995 연구논문집 Vol.15 No.-
The electronic structure of the cross conjugated polyenes has drawn a great deal of attention due to their central double bond distortion in the electronically excited and low-lying ionized doublet states Evidence of this structural behavior is supported by the spectroscopic observation that the spectral shape of bis(4,4-dimethy1-2,5-cyclohexadiene-1-ylidene)(I)in the fundamental state corresponds to that of biphenyl(II)in the first electronically excited stae and vice versa This spectroscopic behavior is explained by the specific difference of their n-electron distribution. The molecular structure of I has been studied in the gas phase and crystal by the gas electron and X-ray diffraction methods, respectively. In the gas phase, molecule I was found to have a dihedral angle of 9.7° in monplanar carbocy-clic rings that is described by C_6-C_1-C_2=C_3-^4 In the crystal, however, the molecule was found to deviate from planarity to different extent such that the torsional angles about single bonds and double bonds vary by only 5.1° and 1.2° respectively.
A Case of Atypical Cutaneous Fibrous Histiocytoma
(Shin Taek Oh),(Sang Boo Shin),(In Gang Jang),(Sung Wook Kim),(Baik Kee Cho) 대한피부과학회 2002 Annals of Dermatology Vol.14 No.1
N/A Atypical cutaneous fibrous histiocytoma (ACFH)is not well known and only a small number of cases have been reported. Characteristically, ACFH is found on the trunk and limbs of middleaged women. Although considerable cellular atypia may be present, it occurs focally, the remainder of the tumor representing more classical cutaneous fibrous histiocytoma. A 37-yearold woman presented with a solitary brownish firm nodule on her right forearm. No other abnormalities were found in her personal or family history. Clinically, the tumor simulated a benign fibrous histiocytoma. Histologic examination revealed a poorly delineated intradermal tumor with the usual appearance of benign cutaneous fibrous histiocytoma, but a variable proportion of cells in the tumor were scattered atypical cells or bizarre multinucleated giant cells. We report upon a rare case of ACFH.(Ann Dermatol 14(1)42-44. 2002).

In one case of advanced systemic scleroderma hyperbaric oxygen therapy was performed. The treatment were given in an one-man pressure chamber(made in Korea) at a pressure of 2.5 atmospheres absolute pressure(AT.A). The pressure was increased in 5-7 minutes, kept constant for 1.5 hours and lowered in 5-7 minutes. After 16 weeks of the treatment, regression of the skin contraction was achieved, together with improved mobility of the joints and healing of ulceration.
