        Klein-Levin Syndrome 1례의 Lithium carbonate 치료경험

        The Klein-Levin syndrome, first named by Cuitchley and Hoffman, consists of periodic hypersomnia, morbid hunger and unusual mental symptoms. Recently the authors treated a 16-year-old male patient who had suffered from 10 to 15day periods of hypersomnia and intermittent episodic pathological hunger. Therapeutic trials on Carbamazepine and Methylphenidate were unsuccessful. Next we treated him with a daily dose of 900㎎ Lithium carbonate for 5 months. Soon after treatment was discontinued against medical advise, one short period of somnolence reappeared. But reinstitution of Lithium carbonate prevented him from more somnolence for next 8 months. Lithium carbonate seemed to suppress the reemergence of somnolence sufficiently in this case, therefore we report this therapeutic experience with a case of Klein-Levin syndrome.

      • 행동관찰에 의한 유아의 운동성취테스트 개발

        본 연구는 Gallahue의 기초 운동 패턴의 가설적 구조를 기초로 각 영역에서 여러 가지의 조건을 고려하면서 타당성, 신뢰성 및 객관성의 검토를 통해 유효하면서 실용적인 행동 관찰에 의한 유아의 운동 성취 테스트는 어떠한 것이며, 또한 행동 관찰에 의해 유아의 기초 운동 기능의 발달을 손쉽게 관찰할 수 있는 운동 프로그램은 어떤 것인가를 제시하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이에 각 테스트 항목에 있어서 평가치 및 실측치의 신뢰성과 객관성, 판별력 및 평가치와 실측치의 일치도 등을 검토한 28개 항목의 운동 성취 테스트를 제시하고, 인자 타당성, 실용성 등을 고려하여 16개 항목 및 9개 항목으로 구성된 행동 관찰을 기본으로 한 운동 성취 테스트와 평가 척도를 소개하였다. 또한 이러한 행동 관찰을 기본으로 한 평가가 이루어질 수 있는 운동 놀이 프로그램의 구성안을 제시하였다. 향후 유아 교육 시설의 제반 환경을 조사하여 보다 실용적인 운동 성취 테스트의 개발과 유아 놀이를 중심으로 한 운동 놀이 프로그램의 개발을 진행할 예정이다. The purpose of this study was to construct a conventional motor achievement test battery based on pass or fail criteria for preschool children. 37 items were examined on reliability and objectivity of both observed value and measured value, agreement between observed value and measured value, and discriminating power of items. The 37 items were selected from 223 items by taking into account various conditions like a hierarchical structure in fundamental motor ability proposed by Gallahue, possibility of behavior observation, difficulty of task, and so on. As a results, 28 items representing each motor pattern of locomotion, manipulation, and stability domains were reselected. Examining the factorial validity in addition to taking practicability into consideration, 16 items were chosen at first and 9 items were chosen from them next. Because these test items showed a positive relation with another motor test on which performances were measured by CGS scales, they were considered to be practical and effective to estimate motor ability.

      • Gymnema산이 췌장도의 Beta-세포에 미치는 영향

        The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of gymnemic acid(GA) on the ultrastructure as well as cellularity of β-cell in the pancreas of rats(N=12). Also studied was the effect of GA on the serum insulin and blood glucose levels during intravenous glucose tolerance test(IVGTT) in man(N=10). Healty adult male rats(Wistar strain) weighing around 200 gm were divided into the three groups; the control, 500mg-GA, and 800mg-GA groups. GA was administered orally 3 times daily for 14 days. All experimental animals were given food and water ad labitum and were sacrificed at 15th day after the administeration of GA and starved for 24 hours before sacrificing them. The specimens obtained from the pancreatic tissues were fixed in 10% neutral formalin for 18 hours at 4℃. After embedding in paraffin, the specimens were sectioned with microtome to a theckness of 6mm. For observing the cellularity of β-cell in the pancreatic islets, Gomori's stain was performed. For studying the ultradtructural changes in pancreatic β-cell, pancreas specimens of 1m㎥ size were prefixed in 2.0% glutaraldehyde-2.5% parpformaldehyde phosphate buffer solution(pH7.2) and post-fixed in the 1% osmic acid. After specimens were dehydrated and embedded in the Epon 802, sectioned by ultramicrotome(HT-2, Sorvall Porter-Blum, USA) to a thickness of 600Å, and stained with uranyl acetate and lead citrate by double contrast method. And these preparations were observed with electron microscope (Hitachi H-600). In IVGTT with or without oral GA(15mg), the subjects were fasted for 12 hours before glucose loading(20ml of 25% glucose solution). The blood glucose and serum insulin level were determined respectively by Glucoscot GT-4301 and EIA(enzyme immunoassay)-insulin kit "Insulotek Mochida" before and at 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes after glucose loading. The results obtained were as follows: 1. In GA(500 mg/kg & 800 mg/kg) treated rats, the cellularity of β-cell throught the pancreatic islets were markedly increased. 2. The insulin secretoty granuled with or without dense core increased in the 500mg-GA group, and the similar changes were obtained in the 800mg-GA group. 3. Following glucose loading, blood sugar level of normal subject elevated from 80.7±2.7 mg/dl to 163.2±15.9mg/dl in 60min. On the other hand, blood glucose level increased from 78.0±2.9mg/dl to 152.1±10.7mg/dl in 30 min after simultaneous administration of glucose and GA. 4. In the IVGTT the serum insulin concentration rose from the basal level of 7.1±1.4 mU/ml to 74.8 15.5 mU/ml while it elevated from 7.4±1.4mU/ml to maximal level of 113.9±33.1 mU/ml in the IVGATT with oral GA. Consequently, it is suggested that gymnemic acid has the direct simulatory effects on the insulin production and secretion of the pancreatci β-cell, and therfore it may be useful for the therapy or prevention of diabetes mellitus.

      • 선풍기 콘덴서에서 발생하는 트랙킹 파형 분석

        Electric fans are electric home appliances widely used in summer season, and because its mechanical structure and how to handle is simple, the products of various size and structure has been produced. Every year, about 5% of the fire originated in electric home appliances have been originated in electric fan, and owing to this. It have brought a tremendous loss of buildings and human lives. As the cause of the fire in electric fan, there are layer short of fan motor coil, short of electric wire in service hole of fan motor by superheating of coil of fan motor, deterioration of condenser, short of electric wire of swing part of fan head, short of power source cord. In this study, we observed the wave shape of tracking of one of the prodrome before ignition by deterioration of condenser, and analysed their harmonics of current wave shape. As the result of this study, it is analysed that the current wave shape of normal operation of electric fan is different from the current wave shape of tracking, accordingly the magnitude of harmonics is different, and we expect available to development of protector of electric fan by use of difference of these harmonics.

      • 준비운동으로서의 운동부하시간과 운동직후 휴식시간에 따른 전신반응시간

        Warm-up has been considered as an essential procedure for peak or effective athletic performance. Little research, however, have performed for effective method of warm-up. This study was performed to find out the adequate time length of warm-up and rest time after warm-up by measuring whole body reaction time (WBRT) of 12 middle school boys. WBRT after 5, 10, 15, and 20-minute Treadmill run (5mph) an also WBRT after 0, 5, and 10-minute rest taking were measured. The results are following: 1. WBRT after the treadmill run was faster than that of rest. In general, WBRT after the ten-minute treadmill run was the fastest in all cases of different length of test time after treadmill run. 2. The ten-minute rest right after the treadmill run was very effective in measurement of WBRT because of significant difference between WART after ten-minute rest taking and that of rest.

      • S-(4-Chlorophenyl)-4-methylthiobenzoate와 이차아민과의 반응

        The reaction of s-(4-chlorophenyl)-4-methylthiobenzote with secondary alicyclic amines are subjected to a kinetic investigation in water 40℃, ionic strength 0.2M (with KCl). Under amine excess, pseudo-first order rate constants(Kobs) are obtained, which are linearly proportional to the total amine concentration. The second-order rate constants (Kobs) are calculated as the slope of these plots. The Bronsted plot obtained is biphasic with slopes β₁=0.1(high pKa), β₂=0.4(low pKa). This plot is consistent with the existence of a zwitterionic tetrahedral intermediate(T±) on the reaction pathway whereby expulsion of leaving group (ShpCl) from T±is rate determining step (k₂step) at low pKa, and there is a change to rate-limiting formation of T±(k₁step) at high pKa.

        Though '2002 Korea/japan Worldcup' Soccer and sports for all are getting more interests. Indeed, five-day workweek system is expanding quictkly. This study was focused in furnishing basic information for developing actual national sports for all and analyzed matters in sports equipments, leaders, program and so on. Active and suitable sports for all system, there should be framed stable systematic and financial support policies basically. The government should accept peoples opinions and suggestions, inquire into their needs, and make a professional national department. And let the department make stable and constant policies and promote them about the equipments, leaders, programs and so on of sports for all. To make the welfare state, above things are necessary and more detailed studies are needed also.

      • 學校實驗室廢水에 대한 調査 硏究 : 하단캠퍼스를 中心으로 Around the Hadan Compus of Dong-A University

        The monthly estimation of the waste water components effluenced from the laboratories of Colleges in Dong-A University has been determined and the laboratory waste water and the sewage in university also analyzed to survey and study for the present situation and disposal treatment plan to get as the basic data It has been come to a conclusion as follows 1) The waste matter of laboratories in University has composed the organic chemical waste of 48% and the inorganic chemical waste of 52%. The large amount of effluence are Cu of 35% Cr of 27% in inorganic chemical waste and there are a little bit amount of Pb As. Fe CN etc. 2) The pollution level of metal ions for each college laboratory has shown the highest in the college of Natural Sciences and October in each month. This view seems that the frequency in use of laboratory are the highest and the laboratories have many students in laboratory of general physics. laboratory of general chemistry and laboratory of general biology. 3) From the analysis and determination the sewage in university has shown the average pH 7.2 as to be neutrality and COD. BOD and the contamination level have shown lower the maximum permissible limit. 4) The components of waste water of college laboratories have diversity. It seems to be proper that the blanket treatment system which recollect separately to treat each component different from the industrial waste disposal treatment because there are many the effluent outlets.

      • 성인남성의 건강체력추진에 관한 기초적 연구

        Principal component analysis and Multiple regression method were applied, for the assessment of health related fitness age(more frequently term the biological age), to the data for 11 physical fitness and anthropometric variables. Subjects were 200 Korean men, aged 20 to 63 years, who were recruited in a series of tests for physical fitness and anthropometry. Analyses of the data revealed that, out of the 11 variables examined, 6 variables were suitable for the assessment of health related fitness age, and that the subjects were approximately 5 years younger when compared to their chronological age. The developed equation for the estimation of health related fitness age(HFA) was HFA = 69.151 -0.146X_1,-0.055X_2-0.678X_3-13.784X_4-0.463X_5-0.054X_6; where X_1=VO_2max(㎖/㎏/min), X_2 = trunk flexion(㎝), X_3 = Sit-ups, X_4 = whole body reaction time(sec), X_5 = vertical jump(㎝), and X_6 = one foot balance with eyes closed(sec). Since independent variables of this equation included health related physical fitness, we defined the score obtained from the equation as "health related fitness age(HFA)" .The equation of HFA was considered useful for evaluating ability of health re lated fitness in adulthood.
