        Effect of a Randomized Controlled Trial Walking Program on Walking, Stress, Depressive Symptoms and Cardiovascular Biomarkers in Elderly Korean Immigrants

        Purpose: Despite well-known benefits of walking on cardiovascular health, no structured walking exercise program has been formally tested on elderly Korean immigrants (EKIs). This pilot randomized controlled trial study assessed the effect of a walking program on walking behavior (pedometer steps count), stress (cortisol), depressive symptoms (CESD-10), and cardiovascular disease biomarkers (hs-CRP and fibrinogen) via venipuncture in EKIs. Methods: Seventy EKIs recruited from a Korean community were randomly assigned to a 12-week walking group or control group in a 3:2 ratio. The working program included a pedometer, buddy, monthly coffee card, weekly call for goal setting, and physical activity consultation. Walking group EKIs maintained the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended exercise guidelines and good mental health status over 12 weeks. Results: There was no significant difference in the outcomes between control and walking groups. Conclusion: Social networking with Koreans in the senior center and church from a well-established Korean community might have positive effects on mental health.

        열다한소탕(熱多寒少湯)으로 호전된 태음인(太陰人) 대상포진(帶狀疱疹) 치험 1례

        1. Objectives : The Purpose of this case is to report that a Tae-eumin patient diagnosed as Herpes Zoster was treated with Yeoldahanso-tang and then his symptoms improved. 2. Methods : We diagnosed the patient as Tae-eumin-Kanyeol-byung(太陰人肝熱病). So we treated him With Yeoldahanso-tang, and used Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and pictures of the affected part for the assessment. 3. Results : After we treated the patient with Yeoldahanso-tang, the vesicles were cleared and his symptoms improved. 4. Conclusions : This case study show an efficient result of using Yeoldahanso-tang in Tae-eumin diagnosed to Herpes Zoster.

        소아에서 나타난 비구개관낭의 치험례

        The nasopalatine duct cyst is the most common non-odontogenic cyst in the oral area and is thought to be originated from the epithelial remnants of the nasopalatine duct. The nasopalatine duct cyst have been mentioned to be an overall incidence of 1.7-11.9% of all jaw cyst. More males than females are affected by that. It could occur all around the age, and especially in their 40th and 60th it happens the most and in childhood it is very rare. Proper treatment for nasopalatine duct cyst is enucleation. In the case of very large cysts, it is likely to be a risk of naso-oral or antral-oral fistulas or of devitalization of teeth, marsupialization is indicated. The purpose of case report is that a nasopalatine duct cyst in is very rare in childhood. A 9-year-old boy was referred to the chosun university pedodontics clinic that this child who has anterior palatal swelling is in routine check. The size of the cyst was so big that the marsupialization was committed and obturator was put. This patient is on the continuous observation. we treated the nasopalatine duct cyst with obturator.

      • 플루오르 화합물을 플라즈마 처리한 PET 직물의 방수성 및 투습성

        Glow discharge plasmas have been arisen much interests in the field of surface modification of polymers. There are much activated species in glow discharge plasma such as electrons(average energy:10eV), radicals and ultra-violet rays(∼40eV)etc. Those of activated energies can be used properly to modify the polymer surfaces. Recently, the demands on fabric which poses a water repellent, proofing and a moisture transpirate characters have been more and more increased. General preparing techniques of those materials are known as (1) surface modification of high bulky and high density fabrics, (2) surface coating with urethane or fluoro resins, (3) lamination with porous films. Among those methods the (1) is superior at moisture transpiration than (2) or (3), but is inferior at water proofing than (2) or (3). If, however, we could improve the water repellency and proofing characters, the process (1) would be the most preferable to other methods. In this work, we have treated PET fabric with each of CF₄, C₂F6, SF 6 and CF₃CF=CF₂plasmas to develop high functional fabric which preserves a moisture transpiration and water proofing natures. Modified properties were evaluated by breakthrough water pressure and water vapor permeation rate. The change of surface morphology was observed by SEM. Results obtained are (1) The moisture transpiration of CF₄-treated fabric was superior as much as untreated fabric, and those of C₂F6-treated, SF6-treated fabrics were inferior in 1∼3%, and that of C₃F6-treated fabric was the most inferior in 15%. (2) At very low pressure treatment condition, it tend to be more hydrophilic except C₃F6-treated fabric. (3) The best treatment condition were 0.09 torr, 90∼120 seconds in CF₄, 0.05 torr, 60∼90 seconds in C₂F6, 0.1 torr, 90 seconds in SF6 and 01 torr, 60 seconds in C₃F6 respectively.

      • 일부 지역 학동기 아동의 우발사고에 대한 조사

        The purpose of this study was to investigate school children's monthly incidence rates and causes of accident. The number of studied subjects were 279 school children. The results were as follows: 1. Average monthly incidence rate of accident for male was 17.8 per 100 persons, and that of female was 12.7. That of the 6th grade was 32.7, and the 1st grade was 5.6, and March was the highest in incidence rate of studied months. 2. The accidents occured most frequently in the 6th grade and relatively low in the 1st grade. 3. The presence of parents, their occupation, and education and monthly income of household were not affected school children's accident. 4. Time required and distance from house to school were concerned to children's accident. Walking was relatively lower than other way in the way of transport from house to school. 5. The majority sites of injury were legs & arms. 6. Most of injured children treated at the medical institute.

      • 증발 표면적 증대를 위한 수적 분리기 특성에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this research is to obtain the characteristics of water-vapor separator for improving the evaporative surface. The experimental system is constituted with water vapor generator, vapor storage tank, laser source for visualization and camera for photography. The efficiency of water-vapor separator can be varied by the kinds of the inside materials. Thus, in this report, we introduced the three kinds of materials with wire scrap, wire brush and sponge. As the experimental results, the wire brush was showed the best efficiency with 185 g/hr.

      • 차세대 고속철도 특수교량의 설계 및 기술사양 조사

        Mo-Am arch bridge is only the long-span bridge (with 125m span) in the Kyong-Bu high-speed line in service, while other bridges are PSC box girder bridges and steel composite bridges with span lengths of 25~50m. However, in foreign high-speed lines, special cable-supported bridges like cable-stayed bridges and extradosed bridges are being adopted in earnest with technical specifications. The cable supported bridge is recognized as one of the indices of technology in civil engineering field, and thus it is being adpoted with a sense of rivalry in countries with advanced technology in railway engineering. In this paper, to apply the top-level cable-supported bridge technology to the domestic high-speed line up to 400㎞/h by establishing the technical specifications on cable-supported bridges including span length, the requirements for securing the dynamic stability and running safety of high speed train are analyzed through case studies for domestic and foreign cases.

      • AZ91D 합금의 기계적 특성에 미치는 유지온도 및 전단변형속도의 영향

        본 논문은 낮은 밀도, 높은 비강도, 우수한 기계 가공성, 진동 흡수성, 치수 안정성 등으로 인하여 크게 주목받고 있는 경량금속인 AZ91D합금의 레오캐스팅(Rheo casting)시 유지온도와 전단변형속도등의 공정변수가 재료의 미세조직과 인장강도와 경도등의 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향에 대하여 고찰하였다. 그 결과 교반에 의해 수지상정(dendrite)이 파쇄되고 구형화됨을 관찰할수 있었고, 교반속도가 증가함에 따라 입자간의 응집을 파괴하는 전단응력이 증가하여 초정입자의 크기가 감소하고 β상(Mg17Al12)의 입계석출이 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 온도가 낮고 교반속도가 증가할수록 입자미세화와 β상의 석출 중가로 인하여 경도는 증가하였으나, 입계에 주로 석출하기 때문에 인장강도와 항복강도, 연신율은 감소하였다. In this study, the rheocasting solidification process was applied in the production of AZ91D alloy with low density, high strength, good castability, and damping capacity. Changes of microstructure and mechanical properties with different holding temperature and shear strain rates were investigated. Dendritic α-phase was fragmentated by stirring, the size was decreased with increasing shear strain rate, and precipitation of Mg17Al12 phase was increased with decreasing holding temperature and increasing shear strain rate. In tensile test, U.T.S and Y, S were decreased while hardness was increased with decreasing holding temperature and increasing shear rate. This tendency of mechanical properties was closely related with the behavior of Mg17Al12 phase.

      • 전압형 PWM 컨버터의 전압 센서리스 제어

        This paper presents a control scheme for a three-phase PWM converter system without any voltage sensors. Two input currents and one load current are measured. In a general PWM converter system, the required AC input and DC output voltage values in order to control the converter are estimated using the differential equations of the converter from the measured input currents and load current values in the switch modes of the converter circuit. The PI controller is used as DC voltage controller and sinusoidal tracking controller which tracks directly AC input current is used as input current controller. The proposed method is verified by simulations. This paper describes the estimation method and configuration of the controller, and discusses steady state and transient performances of the converter.
