Fractional Dynamics of the Spontaneous Emission of an Atom in Photonic Crystals
Szu-Cheng Cheng,Ming-Rung Tsai,Wen-Feng Hsieh 한국물리학회 2008 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.53 No.2
We studied the spontaneous emision of an atom in a photonic crystal with an isotropic band structure. We show that a fractal phenomenon induces the long-timememoryof the spontaneous emision in the photonic crystal. The natural mathematics of describing the fractal phenomenon is fractional calculus. From fractional calculus, we show that no multiple-valued problem and no fractionalized steady-state inversion was encountered in the previous study [J. Opt. B: Quantum Semiclas. Opt. 5, R43 (203)] when the atomic transition frequency was within the allowed band.
Tight-Binding Theory for Coupling Asymmetric Photonic Crystal Waveguides
Szu-Cheng Cheng,Chih-Hsien Huang,Wen-Feng Hsieh 한국물리학회 2008 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.53 No.2
The physical properties of asymmetric photonic-crystal directional couplers are studied under the tight-binding model, which asumes that the field distribution of photonic-crystal waveguides is localized around periodic defects. The couplings of nearby defects betwen two asymmetric waveguides cause two dispersion relations to split further whereas the couplings of nearby defects within an individual waveguide cause the sinusoidal modulations of the dispersion curves. The field-envelope distributions of the coupler are expresed by using the eigenmodes of the tight- binding equations and are consistent with the comparing results from nite-dierence time-domain simulations.
Graphite-based selectorless RRAM: improvable intrinsic nonlinearity for array applications
Chen, Ying-Chen,Hu, Szu-Tung,Lin, Chih-Yang,Fowler, Burt,Huang, Hui-Chun,Lin, Chao-Cheng,Kim, Sungjun,Chang, Yao-Feng,Lee, Jack C. The Royal Society of Chemistry 2018 Nanoscale Vol.10 No.33
<P>Selectorless graphite-based resistive random-access memory (RRAM) has been demonstrated by utilizing the intrinsic nonlinear resistive switching (RS) characteristics, without an additional selector or transistor for low-power RRAM array application. The low effective dielectric constant value (<I>k</I>) layer of graphite or graphite oxide is utilized, which is beneficial in suppressing sneak-path currents in the crossbar RRAM array. The tail-bits with low nonlinearity can be manipulated by the positive voltage pulse, which in turn can alleviate variability and reliability issues. Our results provide additional insights for built-in nonlinearity in 1<I>R</I>-only selectorless RRAMs, which are applicable to the low-power memory array, ultrahigh density storage, and in-memory neuromorphic computational configurations.</P>
Coherent Coupling Between a Three-Level Atom and a Structured Reservoir
Jing-Nuo Wu,Tzong-Jer Yang,Szu-Cheng Cheng 한국물리학회 2008 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.53 No.6
We study the spontaneous emission (SE) spectra of a three-level -type atom in photonic crystals. The air-band, the dielectric-band and the free-space vacuum reservoirs coupled with the atom are considered. With the consideration of the phase difference between the air-band and the dielectricband fields, two band reservoirs become coherent and can interfere with each other. This interference effect depends on the embedded position of the atom and the band-gap width and can affect the SE spectrum. The effect of this interference on the SE spectrum is shown.

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive management strategy that has been widely applied for benign and recurrent malignant thyroid lesions as an alternative to surgery in Taiwan. Members of academic societies for specialists in interventional radiology, endocrinology, and endocrine surgery collaborated to develop the first consensus regarding thyroid RFA in Taiwan. The modified Delphi method was used to reach a consensus. Based on a comprehensive review of recent and valuable literature and expert opinions, the recommendations included indications, pre-procedural evaluations, procedural techniques, post-procedural monitoring, efficacy, and safety, providing a comprehensive review of the application of RFA. The consensus effectively consolidates advice regarding thyroid RFA in clinical practice for local experts.
