Tremor Suppression for Handheld Micromanipulator using Robust Hybrid Control
Sungwan Boksuwan,Taworn Benjanarasuth,Chisato Kanamori,Hisayuki Aoyama 제어로봇시스템학회 2014 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2014 No.10
This paper proposes a suppression of tremor effects, fluctuations caused by a user’s hand, on a handheld micromanipulator by means of a robust hybrid control scheme. The proposed control scheme is a combination between an explicit model predictive control and a PID controller. The advantage of the PID controller is a robustness. It is suitable for handling the holding angle changes. The explicit model predictive control provides the excellent tracking performance. In addition, the robust hybrid control can handle tremor effects successfully. The control objective is to achieve robust tracking performance, to dampen the vibration of the mechanism and to suppress a disturbance, a tremor. The experimental results are used to investigate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Design and Methodology of the Korean Early Psychosis Cohort Study
SungWan Kim,BongJu Lee,JungJin Kim,JeChun Yu,KyuYoung Lee,SeungHee Won,SeungHwan Lee,SeungHyun Kim,ShiHyun Kang,YoungChul Chung 대한신경정신의학회 2017 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.14 No.1
The present study details the rationale and methodology of the Korean Early Psychosis Cohort Study (KEPS), which is a clinical cohort investigation of first episode psychosis patients from a Korean population. The KEPS is a prospective naturalistic observational cohort study that follows the participants for at least 2 years. This study includes patients between 18 and 45 years of age who fulfill the criteria for one of schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders according to the diagnostic criteria of DSM-5. Early psychosis is defined as first episode patients who received antipsychotic treatment for fewer than 4 consecutive weeks after the onset of illness or stabilized patients in the early stages of the disorder whose duration of illness was less than 2 years from the initiation of antipsychotic treatment. The primary outcome measures are treatment response, remission, recovery, and relapse. Additionally, several laboratory tests are conducted and a variety of objective and subjective psychiatric measures assessing early life trauma, lifestyle pattern, and social and cognitive functioning are administered. This long-term prospective cohort study may contribute to the development of early intervention strategies and the improvement of long-term outcomes in patients with schizophrenia.
Does satellite television programing satisfy ethiopian secondary school students?
SungWan Kim,Gebeyehu Bogale APEC국제교육협력원 2015 Asia-Pacific Cybereducation Journal Vol.11 No.1
The Ethiopian development plans have dealt with the education sector as a key strategic pillar. There have been a lot of educational efforts. In particular, to cope with a lack of qualified teachers, lack of good teaching models, and remote rural regions separated from educational benefits, the Ethiopian Ministry of Education has made efforts to utilize educational media, such as satellite TV programing, to improve the quality of secondary education for last decade. However, there was lack of national investigation in the aspect of systemic evaluation to measure the effectiveness of the satellite TV programing. This study aims to investigate the actual practice and effectiveness of the satellite TV programing in Ethiopian secondary schools. To achieve the goal, one questionnaire was developed based on the CIPP model. Two secondary schools were selected and 228 students (Grade 9-12) participated in the survey. Data collected from them were utilized for descriptive & frequencies analysis, chi-square test, and multiple regression analysis. The results indicated that Ethiopian students utilizing satellite TV programing scored highly in the evaluation areas of context, input, process, and product of the program. It was also found that learning demand, learning content, and class management were factors affecting the satisfaction in the satellite TV programing. These findings suggested that satellite TV programing could play an important role in improving the quality of Ethiopian secondary education. As a conclusion, several educational and administrative strategies to improve the TV program were recommended.

Recently, due to global warming and escalating fuel prices, there has been a surging concern in lessening energy consumption in greenhouses. To decrease energy usage in greenhouses, it is imperative to identify the load capacity employed within the greenhouse. In this study, weather data, greenhouse material properties, melon growth data, and crop energy exchange equations were applied to build energy models of melon greenhouses using the TRNSYS program, and energy models of single and double-layered greenhouses were developed, and cooling and heating loads for summer and winter cropping season were calculated and compared from 2017 to 2022. Compared to the single-layered greenhouse, the double-layered greenhouse exhibited no heating load during the summer, while the cooling load increased by 13%. During winter, the heating load decreased by 43.1%, and the cooling load decreased by 18.8%. In the future, this data is expected to aid in the installation of renewable energy facilities with the appropriate capacity in greenhouses.

Due to recent increases in electricity and fuel prices, there is growing interest in reducing energy usage in greenhouses. To reduce energy consumption in greenhouses, it is necessary to first identify the load capacity being used in the greenhouse. In this study, an energy model was designed for a melon greenhouse using Building Energy Simulation (BES) software called TRNSYS, and the cooling and heating load capacity was calculated. To design the energy model for the melon greenhouse, weather data, melon growth data, greenhouse physical characteristics, and microclimate data inside the greenhouse were used. The cooling and heating load capacity for the melon greenhouse was calculated by applying the energy exchange of sensible and latent heat in melon growth. During the growth period from 2017 to 2022, the maximum cooling and heating loads for the greenhouse were calculated to be 79,136 kJ/hr and 152,436 kJ/hr, respectively. Understanding the cooling and heating load capacity of the greenhouse will be helpful in installing the appropriate capacity of renewable energy facilities in the future.
