        Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that mainly affects children and young adults, Its cause remains unknown. The incidence of pediatric Crohn's disease is increasing, so it is important for clinicians to be aware of the presentation of this disease in the pediatric population The majority of patients complain of abdominal pain (72%), with only 25% Presenting with the 'classical triad' of abdominal pain, weight loss, and diarrhea. Many children with Crohn's disease present in a 'non-classical' manner, with vague complaints such as lethargy or anorexia, which may be associated with only mild abdominal discomfort Other symptoms include fever, nausea, vomiting, growth retardation, malnutrition, delayed Puberty, Psychiatric symptoms, arthropathy, and erythema nodosum. Severe constipation and abdominal distension are uncommon symptoms at diagnosis. We report a case of pediatric Crohn's disease, which was diagnosed after the patient presented with severe constipation and abdominal distension.

        유치의 치은열구 깊이에 관한 통계학적 연구

        Author have measured the depth of gingival sulcus of the primary teeth. 333 teeth were selected from the children who attended on the department of pedodontic, College of dentistry, Yonsei University, and kindergarten children at Won Ju city aged from 1 year 8 months to 10 year 2 months. 1998 point were measured. The results were as follows.; 1. Facial surface was the shallowest in sulcus depth compared with other surfaces. It was 1.56㎜. The depth of sulcus in lingual surface was deeper than facial. 2. The deepest part of each surface was mesial and distal. There were no statistical differences between mesial and distal part of the sulcus depth. 3. The mean sulcus depth of each tooth was as follows. Primary central incisor.....1.71㎜. Primary canine..............1.75㎜. Primary second molar........2.03㎜. 4. The mean sulcus depth of upper was 1.86㎜, and the lower was 1.76㎜. The upper tooth was deeper than lower in sulcus depth. 5. The lower primary central incisor had the shallowest sulcus and the upper 2nd primary molar had the deepest compared with other tooth. 6. There wasn't specific statistical differences between the age groups of primary dentition and mixed dentition.

      • 瓦松의 알콜 抽出物이 家兎의 腎機能에 미치는 影響

        Orostachys malacophyllus F. has been applied in Chinese medicine as well as in folk remedy. Its chemical composition and pharmacological actions have not reported yet. But, sometimes, it was used in treatment for the stomach or lung cancer. This study was attempted to investigate the effects of the water fraction separated from alcohol extract of the plant on the renal functions of rabbits. After cannulation of carotid artery, jugular vein and ureters were prepared for the recording of blood pressure, the infusion of the water extract(0.005%) or the hypotonic saline(0.45%), and the collection of the urine, respectively. The hypotonic saline was infused to hydrate the rabbits, and the mixed solution of hypotonic saline, PAH, and inulin was infused to measure the glomerular filtration rate(GFR) and renal plasma flow (RPF). After the hydration, the changes of urine volume were obsereved during the infusion of the water fraction for 1 hour, and during the infusion of hypotonic saline for 80min. And the concentration of PAH or inulin in the urine and blood was measured by the method of Smith and the method of Schreiner, electrolyte concentration by flamephotometer, and the osmolar conentration by osmometer, respectively. The results were summarized as follows: 1. Urine volume, GFR, and RPF were decreased significantly by the infusion of water fraction, and thery were not recovered to control values after the exchange to hypotonic saline. 2. Filtration fraction was increased by water fraction. 3. Water fraction decreased the plasma clearances of electrolytes and the osmolar substances, and increased the negative free water clearance. 4. Water fraction increased the reabsorptive rate(%)of potassium, and decreased the excretory amount of Na or K. And it was decreased the ratio of Na/K excretion. From the above results, it was suggested that water fraction has the antidiuretic effect and its mechanism is primarily caused by the change of the renal hemodynamics.

        국내 미기록 표고속 종들(Lentinula spp.)의 배양적 특성

        표고속(Lentinula)에 속한 종들의 배양적 특성을 규명하고자 국내 미기록종인 L. aciculospora, L. boryana, L. raphanica 3균주와 대조군으로 국내 기록종인 L. edodes 1균주를 실험에 사용하였다. 대조군인 L. edodes 균주는 ME1 배지에서 91.8 mm/7일로 최대 균사생장을 보였으며 균사배양 최적온도는 24℃, 최적pH는 6으로 나타났고 최적 탄소원과 질소원은 Glucose와 Malt extract, 최적비타민은 Myo-inosiol로 나타났다. 첫 번째 국내 미기록종인 L. aciculospora 균주는 PDA 배지에서 36.5 mm/7일로 최대 균사생장을 보였으며 균사배양 최적온도는 22℃, 최적pH는 6으로 나타났고 최적 탄소원과 질소원은 Glucose와 Malt extract, 최적비타민은 Myo-inosiol로 나타났다. 두 번째 L. boryana 균주는 MCM 배지에서 55.0 mm/7일로 최대 균사생장을 보였으며 균사배양 최적온도는 22℃, 최적pH는 7로 나타났고 최적 탄소원과 질소원은 Glucose와 Urea, 최적비타민은 Riboflabin으로 나타났다. 세 번째 L. raphanica 균주는 ME1 배지에서 70.0 mm/7일로 최대 균사생장을 보였으며 균사배양 최적온도는 28℃, 최적pH는 5로 나타났고 최적 탄소원과 질소원은 Sucrose와 Potassium nitrate, 최적비타민은 Riboflabin으로 나타났다. The culture condition of unrecorded species L. aciculospora, L. boryana and L. raphanica was investigated with recorded species of L. edodes as the control group in order to analyze diversity and examed relations of the species belong to Lentinula . The optimal temperature and media for the mycelial growth of L. aciculospora and L. boryana were 22℃ and PDA, MCM medium. L. raphanica was 28℃ and ME1 medium. Each of L. aciculospora, L. boryana, L. raphanica is pH 6, pH 7, pH 5 in the optimal pH respectvely. The optimal carbon and nitrogen source of L. aciculospora were glucose and malt extract. That of L. boryana was glucose and urea that of L. raphanica was sucrose and potassium nitrate. The optimal vitamin of L. aciculospora was Myo-inositol. That of L. boryana and L. raphanica were Riboflabin.

      • Harvold activator의 효과에 관한 임상적 고찰

        저자는 기능적 장애요인이 있는 상악 전치부 돌출을 주소로 내원한 환자 2명을 Harvold activator 로 치료하였다. 치료전후 두부방사 선규격사진을 분석 검토한 결과를 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있었다. 1. 하악골 전방성장 촉진으로 ∠ANB 의 감소가 있었다. 2. 상하악 제 1 대구치의 전방이동 및 정출이 있었으며 특히 하악에서 현저함을 보여 구치관계 개선에 도움이 되었다. 3. 상악전치는 설측경사 및 후방이동이 약간 있었다. 4. 하악전치는 전방이동은 많았지만 경사도는 거의 변화하지 않았다. The authors treated two patients by Harvold activator who chiefly complained the maxillary anterior protrusion. Analyzing the lateral cephalometric radiograph before and after treatment, the authors obtained following results. 1. Because of mandibular forward growth acceleration, ANB angle decreased. 2. Because of mesial movement and extrusion of upper and lower 1st molar especially lower 1st molar, molar relationship was improved 3. There were a certain degree of lingual tipping and backward movement of upper incisors. 4. Although there was a lot of forward movement of lower incisors, there was little change in tipping of lower incisors.

      • 활동적 생활도시 조성을 위한 부산 일부지역 보행환경 개선전략

        Background : To spread the emerging concept 'active living city' as a process of healthy cities initiatives, there were need to collect the opinions of community leaders through various methods especially in the context of ecological perspective. So several kinds of studies needs to be done through various channels. Although there had been not those kind of approach, as a founding member of Alliance For Healthy Citeis in Western Pacific Regional Office of World Health Organization. innovative active living approaches were tried in part of Busan City. Method : Literature and case reviews, windshield survey and community opinion collecting have been done through various channels. Case reviews about domestic practical articles have been done. Fora were organized to present the concepts and to hear the real voice of community. Community opinion collecting using modified Kyonggi-Do Pedestrian Environment Survey Instruments was done to various citizen group(total 877) during 2005.09.1~12. 20Windshield survey have been done in major area of the District and some prominent point was photographed. Result : Through explorative literature and cases reviews, the concepts of active living and active living city were established. 9 model case were presented as separated booklet. Through community fora, practical and specific opinion and suggestion were received. Windshield survey and taking picture provided useful advocation material. According to the pedestrian environment survey, walking time for transport was somewhat desirable. But comprehensive pedestrian environment especially children safety was major concern. Specific negative event was experienced by citizen. Illegal car parking, deficiency of resting area, garbage was major area for improvement. Conclusion : More specified public officer survey needed to concrete policy making according to the active living city concept through Healthy Cities approach. Practical suggestion from community needs to transformed into specific policy. Increasing walking time through the improvements of walking environment may be good strategy for active healthy city making. Sustained advocation is needed using the results of this study.
