      • Experimental Evaluation of Wheeler's Hardening Model for Pusan Clays

        M. Suneel,Chung, S.G.,K.G. Rao 東亞大學校 建設技術硏究所 2005 硏究論文集 Vol.28 No.2

The present paper adopts Wheeler's model to evaluate its application to Pusan clays. A program of triaxial and consolidation tests on samples of Pusan clays at Yangsan, Korea was undertaken to investigate the applicability of the model. The model parameters are evaluated by describing the initial state of the soil. Model predictions are shown to be qualitatively consistent with experimental observations, but refinement seems to be required to have much better agreement between experimental results and model predictions.

      • Anisotropic Permeability Evaluation of Pusan Clays at the New Pusan Port

        M. Suneel,Chung, S.G.,Ganapathi Rao 東亞大學校 建設技術硏究所 2005 硏究論文集 Vol.28 No.2

Large reclamation projects have been carried out in the western marginal area of the Nakdong River Estuary where are located at Busan city and its vicinity, South Korea, since late 1990s. In the area studied clay deposits are usually thick, varying from 20m to 70m in thickness. The present paper concerns a comparative analysis of the possible methods for estimating permeability at the New Pusan port. CRS consolidation tests with radial and vertical drainage, oedometer and some permeability measurement tests were conducted to provide the consolidation characteristics. A piezocone was used to measure the pore water pressure dissipation characteristics in the field, and the corresponding horizontal coefficients of consolidation were estimated based on established theory.Possible influence of artesian pressure from the underlying sand layer on to the pore pressure profile of the clay layer was also investigated using piezometer.

      • Robust Fault-Tolerant Cruise Control of Electric Vehicles based on Second-order Sliding Mode Observer

        Suneel K. Kommuri,Jagat J. Rath,Kalyana C. Veluvolu,M. Defoort 제어로봇시스템학회 2014 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2014 No.10

This paper presents fault-tolerant cruise control of an electric vehicle based on the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). A higher order sliding mode (HOSM) observer is designed to estimate the unknown back electro motive forces (EMFs) in the plant dynamics. A finite-time smooth estimation without low-pass filtering is obtained and the chattering phenomenon is eliminated. With the estimated back EMFs, an accurate speed estimate of PMSM can be algebraically computed. The estimated speed is provided as a feedback whenever fault occurs in the measurement speed. The corresponding torque output drives the electric vehicle (train, car) to maintain the vehicle speed to a desired vehicle speed reference. Simulations in a high fidelity CarSim confirm the validity of the overall approach.

      • Performance Comparison of Sliding Mode Observers for Back EMFs based Speed Estimation in PMSM

        Suneel K. Kommuri,Jagat J. Rath,Kalyana C. Veluvolu,M. Defoort,S. Tatinati 제어로봇시스템학회 2015 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2015 No.10

This paper proposes a second-order high-speed sliding mode (SHSM) observer and compares the performance with the recent higher-order sliding mode (HOSM) observer for the problem of sensorless speed estimation in the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). In which, a sigmoid function is substituted for the signum function with a variable boundary layer. A SHSM observer is proposed to provide the estimation of back electro motive forces (EMFs) that are treated as unknown inputs in the PMSM model. An accurate speed estimate of PMSM can be algebraically computed with the estimated back EMFs. The chattering phenomenon, that is commonly found in the sliding mode observers is well-reduced by replacing signum function with the sigmoid function, in comparison to the HOSM observer. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed SHSM speed estimation method in comparison to the earlier HOSM observer in terms of good accuracy and chattering phenomenon.

Mucoadhesive buccal tablets of domperidone: formulation evaluation and effects of process variables

Suneel Lakshminarayan Pandey,Nilesh Tikaram Hingawe,Ujjalkumar Das,Arun Triyambak Patil 한국약제학회 2014 Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation Vol.44 No.2

The aim of the present work was to develop andevaluate buccal adhesive tablets of domperidone and studythe effect of diluents. Tablets were prepared by direct compressionmethod using different polymer and excipientscombinations. Formulations batches were evaluated forphysical parameter, swelling studies, bioadhesion studiesand in vitro drug release. Formulation batch F2 was mostpromising composition of 1:5 ratio of HPMC K4 M/Sodiumalginate. Effect of formulation variables such as diluents i.e. lactose (water soluble) and di-calcium phosphate (DCP)(water insoluble) studied on swelling index, bioadhesiveperformance and in vitro drug release. Bioadhesive force wasdrastically decreased in presence of DCP; it was concludedthat DCP more significantly affected the swelling index thandid lactose. Both Lactose and DCP similarly affect the bioadhesivestrength of buccal adhesive tablets. Dissolutionprofiles have shown non-fickian drug release mechanism, which indicated that the drug was released by diffusion anderosion mechanism. Thereby buccal adhesive tablets offer apromising strategy for drug delivery of domperidone.

        Suneel Pandey,Ujjalkumar Das,Arun Patil 한국약제학회 2014 Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation Vol.44 No.4

Periodontal disease comprises a group ofinflammatory conditions of periodontal tissues with commonetiologic agent (bacteria) in the form of dental plaque. The objective of this research was to prepare a water-in-oiltype microemulsion comprising metronidazole and equateits potency towards the effective treatment of periodontitis. A pseudo ternary phase diagram for microemulsioninvestigated using quaternary system containing water/captex 500/ tween 80/acconon CC6. The microemulsionwas preferred from the microemulsion area on the phasediagram. Stable water-in-oil type metronidazole microemulsionwas prepared successfully using the quaternarysystem of water/captex 500/ tween 80/acconon CC6 at 4:1ratio having droplet size in the range of 81 ± 12.91 to196 ± 10.73 nm, conductivity 50.6 ± 0.8 to 330.7 ±1.1 ls/cm. In-vitro drug release, in vitro and ex vivoantimicrobial activities by agar well diffusion were investigated. Metronidazole Microemulsion loaded hydrogelformulations (F9 and F10) were found to be optimized formaximum release and antimicrobial activity in terms ofzone of inhibition. The in vitro release evidenced thatmetronidazole microemulsion loaded hydrogel release ratewas maximum as compared to other plain metronidazolegels. Stability study proved that microemulsion persistedstable for at least 6 months; with no changes in clarity, characteristic properties, and no sign of crystallization ofmetronidazole. In ex vivo evaluation, microemulsion basedhydrogels were effective against the microbial flora of thehuman oral cavity suffering from periodontitis. The systemwas found to be appropriate for application and moreeffective in reducing the clinical symptoms of periodontitis.

Determination of Reaction Kinetics during Vitrification of Radioactive Liquid Waste for Different Types of Base Glass

        G. Suneel,S. Rajasekaran,J. Selvakumar,Chetan P. Kaushik,J.K. Gayen,K.V. Ravi 한국원자력학회 2019 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.51 No.3

Vitrification of radioactive liquid waste (RLW) provides a feasible solution for isolating radionuclidesfrom the biosphere for an extended period. In vitrification, base glass and radioactive waste are addedsimultaneously into the melter. Determination of heat and mass transfer rates is necessary for rationaldesign and sizing of melter. For obtaining an assured product quality, knowledge of reaction kineticsassociated with the thermal decomposition of waste constituents is essential. In this study Thermogravimetry(TG) - Differential Thermogravimetry (DTG) of eight kinds of nitrates and two oxides, whichare major components of RLW, is investigated in the temperature range of 298e1273 K in the presence ofbase glasses of five component (5C) and seven component (7C). Studies on thermal behavior of constituentsin RLW were carried out at heating rates ranging from 10 to 40 K min 1 using TG e DTG. Thermal behavior and related kinetic parameters of waste constituents, in the presence of 5C and 7C baseglass compositions were also investigated. The activation energy, pre-exponential factor and order of thereaction for the thermal decomposition of 24% waste oxide loaded glasses were estimated using Kissingermethod

        조주화상 ‘끽다거’의 의미

        정순일(Suneel Jeong) 한국차학회 2014 한국차학회지 Vol.20 No.3

The well-known traditional expression of “Tea and Ch’en is one taste” means that tea and ch’en are the same. Talking the phrase “Tea and Ch’en is one taste” is reminiscent of the Chao-Chou’s Hua-t’ou, “Have a cup of tea.” The Hua-t’ou’s meanings can be summarized as follows. First, it demands mindfulness through which we can enter into samadhi. Second, it leads to teachings of equality. Chao-chou drank tea with those who he had never met, those who he had once met, and those who were always with him. All of them were the equal to him. Third, it is teaching like a mirror, i.e., it makes people (drinking tea) look at themselves in the mirror. Fourth, it is the teaching to lead to free men. Tea drinking with a Normal Mind is like a mirror. Fifth, it purports to realize triple sūnyatā. Chao-chou implies to a tea drinker, the tea and drinking act are fundamentally all empty. Sixth, Chao-chou’s realizes madhyamā-pratipad through the emptiness of a cup of tea. Seventh, he transmits the idea that matter and me are one body. Eighth, we can taste maitrī-karunā through Chao-chou’s a cup of tea.
