        소설 『작은 아씨들』과 영화 <작은 아씨들> 스토리텔링 전환 양상과 의미

        이 글은 루이자 메이 올콧의 소설 『작은 아씨들』과 원작소설을 비교적 충실하게 반영하면서 각 시대적 가치관을 반영한 세 편의 영화(1949, 1994, 2919)의 각색 전략을 살펴보았다. 이를 토대로 몇 가지 중요한 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 첫째, 원작 소설 『작은 아씨들』은 다층적인 목소리를 통해 전복의 상상력을 내장하고 있다는 점이다. 이 작품이 오늘날 여러 버전으로 각색되는 것은 19세기 소녀소설로 당대적 도덕관과 가치관을 담아내고 있으나, 소설의 곳곳에서 당대적 가치관에 대해 순응과 불온의 상상력을 동시에 담아내고 있다는 점에서 다층적인 해석의 가능성이 있다. 둘째, 원작 소설을 비교적 충실하게 각색한 영화들이 각 시대의 소통욕망을 반영하여 새로운 시각에서 이야기를 확장하고 강화하는 방향으로 변모되었다는 점에서 스토리텔링의 가능성을 모색할 수 있었다. 1949년 영화의 경우 원작 소설에서 낭만적 연애와 결혼에 초점을 맞추고 남성 중심 사회를 존속, 유지하는데 기여하는 스토리텔링을 보여준다는 특징이 있다. 1994년 영화에서는 여성주의 시각이 강화되면서 스토리텔링도 변화된다. 1994년 영화는 조와 마치부인, 그리고 에이미의 성격을 강화하고 여성주의 시각에서 남성중심 사회의 문제점을 조망해서 보여주고자 한다. 2019년 영화에서는 현대인들의 꿈에 대한 도전과 성취라는 문제에 초점을 맞춰 조를 화자로 내세워 과거와 현재를 교차편집하는 전략을 취하고 있다. 누구나 소녀시절에는 자신의 꿈이 있고 낭만적인 미래를 꿈꿀 수 있다는 점에서 이 영화는 네 자매의 삶을 통해 현대인의 가치관의 변화와 소통에 대한 욕망을 반영해서 각색되었다는 데 의미가 있다. This study attempts to provide strategic adaptation of three versions of film based on the different periods, to tell the story of the original novel Little Women. They are focusing on narrative structures and personality changes of the characters. For this, I will examine how the main stream of storytelling are changed from the original novel to the 1949 film, the 1994 film, and the 2019 film respectively. The combination of two perspectives in the original novel of Little Women opens up diverse possibilities for interpretation. First, it directly reveals on the surface of the novel as an edifying message through contents that provide education on femininity that was demanded in the 19th century. Second, it displays subversive imagination, taking advantage of existing cultural values and morals. In particular, the original novel opens up possibilities for new interpretations in that it conflicts with contemporary moral views or values through the lines or action descriptions of the characters. The mixed values of the original piece also affected the reinterpretations of the three films. The 1949 film focuses on the romantic lives and marriages of the daughters to compose the whole narration, reproducing a story of a moral family saga. Therefore, the 1949 film is limited in that it reproduces male-centered and traditional values by focusing the traditional and conservative lives of families and women on marriage instead of on the unique character compositions of each character. There is a time gap between the 1994 film and the 1949 film and they reveal values of changed feminity. The 1994 film changed the personalities of some of the characters to externally reveal subversive voices on traditional feminity and it reveals the changed values and morals of today in that the film was made from perspectives that support feminism. The 2019 film reinforces feministic views dealt with in the 1994 film and focuses even more on narrations through which the characters attempt to fulfill their dreams. This piece places the character of ‘Jo’ in the center to show narrations of a sense of challenge and achievement in relation to the dreams of today and develops the stories of the four daughters through cross editing. The 2019 film displays views that are different from those of the 1994 film in that it attempted to make reinterpretations of hidden meanings in the original piece to be appropriate for today by reinforcing the characters of ‘Jo’ and ‘Amy’ and their processes of dream fulfillment. Like this, the novel Little Women has elements of newness in that it shows possibilities of diverse interpretations through the rich imagination and multi-layered problem awareness of the original work. It is anticipated that the diverse possibilities of the original Little Women will graft with diverse perspectives of contemporary social and political realities to display free imagination.

        한낙원의 초기 SF의 양상과 낙관주의적 전망 - 「사라진 행글라이더」, 「어떤기적」, 「미애의 로봇친구」를 중심으로-

        본고는 1960년대 한낙원의 초기 SF 「사라진 행글라이더」, 「어떤 기적」, 「미애의 로봇친구」를 중심으로 서사의 양상과 그 의미가 무엇인지를 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. SF는 아동 독자에게 과학과 문학의 통섭 속에서 당대인들의 사고와 관심을 담아내면서 미래에 대한 지향점과 새로운 관점을 갖도록 도와준다. 또한 SF는 아동 독자에게 자아와 타자와의 관계를 확장하는 데 있어 새로운 패러다임과 상상력으로 이행하도록 가교역할을 해준다. 이런 관점에서 본 연구는 한낙원의 초기 SF에서 나타난 서사의 양상과 의미를 당대의 주요 관심이었던 우주, 외계인, 로봇의 키워드를 중심으로 탐색하였다. 먼저 한낙원은 「사라진 행글라이더」와 「어떤 기적」에서 우주와 외계인을 이미지화하는 과정에서 인류의 미래에 대해 낙관주의적 전망을 제시한다. 그런데 두 텍스트는 ‘남성’을 휴먼 주체로 세우는 과정에서 가부장적인 가치관을 드러낸다. 「사라진 행글라이더」는 ‘외계인-여성’의 이미지로 「어떤 기적」은 ‘동물-여성’의 이미지로 여성을 타자화한다는 점에서 1960년대의 중심 가치였던 가부장적 한계를 담아낸다. 또한 「미애의 로봇친구」에서는 로봇의 이미지를 통해 과학에 대한 낙관주의적 전망을 보여준다. 이 텍스트는 1960년대 로봇에 대한 상상력을 통해 인간과 로봇의 관계를 보여주는 방식을 통해 미약하지만 오늘날 문학의 주요 화두인 포스트 휴머니즘의 맹아적 관점을 제시한다는데 의미를 지닌다. 이상에서 살펴본 바와 같이 한낙원의 초기 SF는 인류의 미래에 대한 낙관주의적 전망을 담아낸다는 점에서 1970년대까지 SF 문학에서 공통적으로 제시한 유토피아적 관점을 견지한다. 하지만 우주, 외계인, 로봇을 구체적으로 이미지화하는 과정에서는 가부장적 가치관을 반복하거나, 인간의 이기주의적 태도를 보여준다. 이처럼 한낙원의 초기 SF는 1960년대 아동 독자에게 과학에 대한 유토피아적 전망과 함께 새로운 가치에 대해 고민하도록 이끈다는 점에서 미래 세대를 위한 문학의 가교 역할을 수행했음을 알 수 있다. The purpose of this paper is to explore the aspects of the narrative and its meaning, focusing on Han Nak-won’s early science fiction 'The Disappeared Hang Glider', 'A Miracle', and 'Mi-ae’s Robot Friend' in the 1960s. Science fiction guides children's readers to have new perspectives and orientations for the future while embracing people's thoughts and interests between the consilience of science and literature. In addition, SF helps the child reader to play a bridging role to transition to a new paradigm and imagination in forming a relationship between self and others. From this point of view, this study explored the aspects and meanings of the narrative that appeared in Han Nak-won’s early science fiction, focusing on the space, aliens, and robots, which were of major interest in the 1960s. First, Han Nak-Won presents an optimistic outlook for the future of mankind in the process of imaging the universe and aliens in “The Disappeared Hang Glider” and “A Miracle.” However, the two texts reveal the values of the patriarchal system in the process of shaping ‘male’ as a human subject. “The Disappeared Hang Glider” reveals the patriarchal limitations that were central to the 1960s in that it is an image of “alien-woman” and “A Miracle” is an image of “animal-woman” that otherizes women. Also, in 'Miae’s Robot Friend', the image of a robot reveals an optimistic view of science. This text reveals the relationship between humans and robots through the imagination of 1960s robots. At the same time, it is meaningful in that it presents a sprout perspective of post-humanism, a major topic in today's literature. As discussed above, Han Nak-won’s early science fiction reveals an optimistic outlook for the future. In this respect, his texts reproduce the utopian point of view that appeared in science fiction literature until the 1970s. However, in the process of imagining space, aliens, and robots, his works repeat the patriarchal system or show limitations in revealing human selfish attitude. As such, Han Nakwon’s early science fiction leads children in the 1960s to think about new values along with a utopian outlook on science and technology. In this respect, it can be seen that his literature served as a bridge between literature for future generations.

      • 중등 영어 교사의 발음에 대한 인식과 교수에 관한 연구

        The purposes of this study are to examine (1) how Korean English teachers perceive English pronunciation and (2) how they implement pronunciation education in the classroom. Based on the findings of the study, effective ways of teaching pronunciation are suggested. For achieving these goals, qualitative research methodology was adopted. Written surveys of 87 Korean English teachers and 16 native-speaking English teachers were conducted. Additionally, interviews were given to six Korean English teachers and six native-speaking English teachers. According to the results of this survey, the following conclusions can be drawn. First, approximately 65% of teachers expressed confidence in their own phonological knowledge, while approximately 35% of teachers thought that their phonological knowledge was not sufficient to teach pronunciation. Second, most teachers did not consider teaching pronunciation an important part of English education. Third, most teachers who were interviewed had an opinion that the British intonation as well as the American intonation needed to be taught to assist students in understanding a variety of English dialects.

        석정 이정직의 『시경』론에 대한 해석학적 접근 ― 『시경일과(詩經日課)』 삼권(三卷)의 분석을 더하여

        본고는 『詩經日課』 三卷의 분석을 더하여 석정의 『시경』 관련 저술 양상과 『시경』 인식의 특징을 개관하는 데 주요 목적을 두었다. 구체 분석에 있어서는 주석자의 해석 맥락에 주의를 기울이는 석정의 접근에 특히 주목하였다. 해석학적 각도에서 볼 때, 석정 『시경』론의 특징을 다음과 같이 정리할 수 있다. 첫째, 석정은 『시경』학의 맥락에서 해석의 다양성을 인정하는 가운데 『시경』 해석의 계승과 변천 과정에서의 맥락에 관심을 기울였다. 이 과정에서 석정은 주자 『시경』 해석의 가치를 ‘獨創’에서보다는 ‘折衷’에서 찾고자 하였다. 이러한 관점은 주자 『시경』학을 漢代 『시경』학과 대립시키며 그 독창적인 면을 부각하고 다른 면을 배격하는 학문 태도와 선명한 대조를 이룬다. 이는 곧 진정한 獨創의 원동력이 전통과 기존설의 정밀한 비교, 분석을 통한 융합적 ‘折衷’에 기인한다고 보는 것으로, 석정이 근대 전환기에도 왜 여전히 전통 학문과 시각을 중시하였는가를 이해하는 데 유효하게 참고될 수 있다. 둘째, 석정은 『시경』 해석의 타당성 여부와 내원을 세밀하게 추적하려는 면모를 보였는데, 이는 특정 주석가의 해석을 맹신하거나 배척하지 않았다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다. 셋째, 석정은 해석자(주석자)의 인식 맥락에 초점을 두어 『시경』 해석의 同異를 변별하였다. 주석의 是非, 正誤에 대한 판단보다는, 주석자가 왜 이렇게 주석하였는지에 대한 의식의 흐름에 주목하였다는 점에서, 한국 『시경』 해석학사에서 중요한 의의를 지닌다고 생각된다. The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the aspects of Sŏkchŏng’s writings related to the Book of Songs and the characteristics of the perception of the Book of Songs by analyzing of the three volumes of Shigyŏngilgwa(詩經日課) which have not been made public yet. This paper pays special attention to the fact that the commentators’ intention has a very important weight in Sŏkchŏng’s commentary on the Book of Songs, and the related interpretation has a unique approach angle. From a hermeneutic angle, the significance of Sŏkchŏng’s perception of the Book of Songs can be summarized as follows. First, while recognizing the diversity of interpretations of the Book of Songs in its historical context, Sŏkchŏng paid attention to grasping the grounds and origins of the succession and transition process of the Book of Songs. In this process, Sŏkchŏng wanted to find the value of Zhuxi’s interpretation of the Book of Songs in its ‘eclectic character’ rather than in its ‘originality’. This view is in stark contrast to the academic attitude that emphasizes its original side and rejects its opposite side. This is attributed to the compromise through precise comparison and analysis of tradition and existing theories, which can be effectively referenced in understanding the reason why Sŏkchŏng still valued traditional learning and perspective even during the modern transition period. Second, Sŏkchŏng’s approach to trace the validity and origin of the interpretation of the Book of Songs is significant in that he pursued an academic approach that did not blind or reject the interpretation of specific commentators. Third, Sŏkchŏng differentiated the interpretation of the Book of Songs by focusing on the context of the interpreter(or commentator)’s perception. It is considered to be of great significance in the history of interpretation of the Book of Songs in Korea in that he showed interest in capturing the flow of the interpreter’s consciousness about the way he commented, rather than in judging whether the commentator’s contents were right or wrong.

        Melanin Bleaching and Melanogenesis Inhibition Effects of Pediococcus acidilactici PMC48 Isolated from Korean Perilla Leaf Kimchi

        Overproduction and accumulation of melanin in the skin will darken the skin and cause skin disorders. So far, components that can inhibit tyrosinase, a melanin synthase of melanocytes, have been developed and used as ingredients of cosmetics or pharmaceutical products. However, most of existing substances can only inhibit the biosynthesis of melanin while melanin that is already synthesized and deposited is not directly decomposed. Thus, their effects in decreasing melanin concentration in the skin are weak. To overcome the limitation of existing therapeutic agents, we started to develop a substance that could directly biodegrade melanin. We screened traditional fermented food microorganisms for their abilities to direct biodegrade melanin. As a result, we found that a kimchi-derived Pediococcus acidilactici PMC48 had a direct melanin-degrading effect. This PMC48 strain is a new strain, different from P. acidilactici strains reported so far. It not only directly degrades melanin, but also has tyrosinase-inhibiting effect. It has a direct melanin-decomposition effect. It exceeds existing melanin synthesis-inhibiting technology. It is expected to be of high value as a raw material for melanin degradation drugs and cosmetics.

      • Dental Education About Patients with Special Needs: A Survey of Korean Dental Schools and Regional Dental Centers for the Patients with Special Needs

        This study aimed to explore how Korean dental schools educate students about patients with special needs and the difficulties faced by educators. Data were collected from eleven dental schools and eight regional dental centers (RDCs) for those with special needs in Korea using a web-based survey. Of the eleven institutions surveyed, six covered special needs within their clinical education. Only six schools offered a separate course on special needs patients. The clinical education for special needs patients varied widely among institutions. Most programs included the management of patients with developmental delays or intellectual disabilities, such as cerebral palsy (100.0%), intellectual disabilities (77.8%), and autism spectrum disorder (77.8%) in their curriculum. The average number of hours devoted to special needs clinical education was ‘less than a day’ (37.5%), ‘a day or two’ (37.5%), and ‘three to five days’ (25.0%). Written exams were most frequently used for outcome assessment (87.5%). The commonly reported challenges were the lack of educational resources, and curriculum overload. Respondents also indicated a lack of faculty members who have been trained on special needs dentistry. More than 200 patients attend dental appointments at each RDC per month. Four RDCs were located within dental school hospitals. RDCs provide oral home care and oral disease prevention programs to caregivers regularly. RDCs also provide mobile dental services. Respondents from RDCs preferred students to observe patients during dental treatment (74.2%) or assist with treatment (74.2%) provided by dental practitioners. Students perceived that there are challenges as RDC primary treatment providers for patients with special needs, including ‘patient behavior management’ (83.9%) and ‘obtaining informed consent from parents or legal guardians’ (64.3%). Respondents from RDCs agreed that a postgraduate fellowship program for special needs dentistry should be developed.
