교회는 왜 사회 참여를 하였는가? : 70~80년대 군사 정권 하에서

우리는 1961년 5·16 쿠테타부터 93년 2월 문민정부가 들어서기까지 30여년을 흔히 군사정권 시대라고 부른다. 우리는 이 시기가 "한강의 기적"이라고 일컫는 경제 발전을 이룩한 시대였다는 것을 물론 잊어서는 안되겠다. 그러나 이 시대에 오늘도 많은 이의 기억 속에 아직도 아픔으로 남아 있을 만큼 독재 정권의 압제가 격심하였다는 것을 말하지 않을 수 없다. 그것은 빈곤을 극복하고 경제발전을 이룩하기 위해서 치러야만 했던 부득이한 희생이었다고 말할 수도 있겠다. 그 말에도 일리가 있지만, 그러나 그것은 국민의 자발적인 참여속에 치른 희생이 아니었다. 그것은 막강한 권력에 의해 강요된 희생이었고, 많은 경우 불필요할 뿐 아니라 부당하고 불법적이기까지 한 인권유린이었다. 그로 말미암아 오히려 국민의 참여 의욕은 감소하고, 특히 인권유린과 사회정의 부재는 너무나 많은 이의 삶을 고통 속에 좌절하게 하였고 권력형 부정 부패를 만연시켰다. 최근에 우리 사회를 연일 들끓게 하고 있는 전직 대통령의 어마어마한 액수의 비자금 사건이 이를 잘 말하고 있다. 이로써 빈부 격차, 도시와 농촌 사이의 격차, 지역간의 격차를 낳았고, 그것은 오늘까지도 국민적 단합을 해치고 정치의 안정과 국가의 경제 발전에도 큰 지장을 초래하고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 물질 위주, 황금만능주의의 전도된 가치관은 성수대교 붕괴, 도시가스 폭팔, 삼풍백화점 붕괴 사고 같은 참극을 초래하였다.

본 연구는 한류현상을 구체화하기 위하여 “한류가 다른 사회에 어떠한 과정으로 유입되는가?”라는 질문을 중심으로 두 가지 작업을 하였다. 첫째로, 한류현상 구체화를 위한 분석틀 마련이다. 한류현상을 보기 위해서는 ‘행위자의 움직임’과 ‘문화상품의 의미변화’에 주목할 필요가 있다. 왜냐하면 외부의 문화를 들여오고 받아들이는 것은 사람들이 하는 것이며, 이러한 과정 속에서 사람들이 외부의 문화를 받아들이고 해석함에 따라 그 의미가 변화할 수 있기 때문이다. 이러한 한류현상의 ‘인간의 행위 특성’과 ‘의미변화의 과정’을 주목하기 위하여 카테고리(category)와 제도적 기업가정신(institutional entrepreneurship)라는 두 이론적 개념을 활용하였다. 둘째로, 이론적 자원을 마련한 뒤 이것을 실제 사례에 적용하여 살펴보는 것이다. 이 글에서는 본 연구에서 제시하는 분석틀의 가능성을 확인하기 위하여 ‘미국사회에서 한식이 정착하게 되는 과정’을 살펴보았다. 분석을 통하여 이 연구는 한류의 내용을 행위자의 움직임과 문화상품의 정체성 변화내용을 확인함으로써 구체화할 필요가 있다는 것을 강조하였다. 그리고 한류현상의 지속가능성을 유지하기 위해서는 국가중심의 하향식 움직임이 아닌 ‘다양한 이해관계자 중심의 상향식 움직임’과 문화상품의 ‘정체성 변화를 통한 긍정적 이미지’ 형성이 중요하다고 주장하였다. Based on the this studywants to bridge the gap, throughmaterializing themechanismof cultural diffusion, which is a natural attribute of Hallyu. This paper is composed of two works centered on research question, "howthe Korean style flows into other societies?" First, The first is to create an analysis framework for the materialization of the Hallyu. In order to see Hallyu phenomenon, it is necessary to pay attention to "movement of the actor" and "semantic change of cultural products." Because it is the people who bring in and accept the external culture, and in this process the meaning can change as people accept and interpret the external culture. We used two theoretical concepts: category and institutional entrepreneurship in institutional approach to pay attention to "the characteristics of human behavior" and "the process of meaning change." Second, after preparing the theoretical resources, apply themto practical cases. In this paper, the analytical framework composed of theoretical concepts is applied to "the process of Hansik (Korean food) settlement in American society" to confirm the possibility of the analysis framework presented in this study. Through the analysis, this study emphasized the necessity to refine the contents of Hallyu by examining the actors" movements and changes in the identity of cultural products.
