Interacting with a virtual object with passive haptics improve sense of presence within a virtual reality environment. However, replacing every virtual object with high fidelity physical object is costly and time consuming. The present study investigated the design factors for low fidelity passive haptics with respect to the effect of presence in immersive virtual reality environment. The cases were made in space training and dentistry environment. A set of low fidelity prototype which differs in haptic properties were designed and analyzed the haptic perception and presence experience.
