        Inbreeding Levels and Pedigree Structure of Landrace, Yorkshire and Duroc Populations of Major Swine Breeding Farms in Republic of Korea

        The registration data of 15 populations from nine major swine breeding farms were investigated to check levels of inbreeding and the current status of pedigree structures of breeding stocks. The average rate of inbreeding per generation was 0.208%, 0.209%, 0.098%, 0.307% and 0.071% for farms D, S, K, H, and Y in Duroc, 0.071%, 0.188%, 0.685%, 0.336%, and 0.449% for farms S, H, C, J, and W in Landrace, and 0.243%, 0.123%, 0.103%, 0.165%, and 0.286% for farms D, S, G, H, and J in Yorkshire, respectively. The average inbreeding rate was highest for Landrace, intermediate for Yorkshire, and lowest for Duroc farms. In Landrace and Yorkshire populations there were few immigrant animals per generation. In Duroc, however, there were quite large numbers of immigrant animals per generation compared to other breeds. The effective population sizes calculated from the average rate of inbreeding were distributed between 73.0 and 708.7. Specific values were 204.8, 239.7, 508.8, 163.0 and 708.2 for farms D, S, K, H, and Y in Duroc, 708.7, 266.5, 73.0, 148.9, and 111.3 for farms S, H, C, J, and W in Landrace, and 205.5, 406.0, 486.9, 302.6 and 175.0 for farms D, S, G, H, and J in Yorkshire, respectively. The values were acceptable for natural selection for fitness and inbreeding depression. The results showed that there was no cause for concern over the current inbreeding level of major swine breeding farm populations and the inbreeding level was within an acceptable range.

        An electronic controller of vehicle implements a number of control form measured voltage of vehicle battery . In general, the battery voltage measurement, the voltage distribution method using a resistor circuit is used. Error of the measured battery voltage is generated due to various reasons, such as resistance error, wire resistance differences. This paper presents a method of correcting the measurement error of battery voltage of Smart Junction Block(SJB) and to minimize the voltage output control error to Vehicle exterior lamp accordingly.

        GPGPU를 이용한 Hilbert R-tree 벌크로딩 고속화 기법

        R tree는 공간 데이터베이스 분야에서 가장 널리 쓰이는 색인 구조이며 다양한 변형된 기법들이 제안되었다. 이 기법들 중 Hilbert R tree는 공간 채움 곡선인 Hilbert 곡선을 이용해서 대용량의 데이터를 고비용의 분할 과정 없이 R tree를 구성하는 기법이다. 하지만 기존의 CPU기반의 Hilbert R tree는 대용량의 데이터를 처리할 때는 순차적인 접근으로 발생되는 고비용의 전처리 비용과 느린 구축시간으로 실제 응용에 적용되기에는 한계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 GPU를 이용해서 데이터의 Hilbert 매핑을 병렬화 하고 이를 통해서 최종적으로 GPU의 메모리에 Hilbert R tree의 벌크로딩을 고속화하는 기법을 제안한다. GPU기반의 Hilbert R tree는 inversed cell 기법과 트리구조 패킹의 병렬화 기법을 통해서 벌크로딩의 성능을 향상시켰다. 실험 결과에서는 기존의 CPU 기반의 벌크로딩에 비해 최대 45배의 성능향상을 보여주었다. In spatial databases, R tree is one of the most widely used indexing structures and many variants have been proposed for its performance improvement. Among these variants, Hilbert R tree is a representative method using Hilbert curve to process large amounts of data without high cost split techniques to construct the R tree. This Hilbert R tree, however, is hardly applicable to large scale applications in practice mainly due to high pre processing costs and slow bulk load time. To overcome the limitations of Hilbert R tree, we propose a novel approach for parallelizing Hilbert mapping and thus accelerating bulk loading of Hilbert R tree on GPU memory. Hilbert R tree based on GPU improves bulk loading performance by applying the inversed cell method and exploiting parallelism for packing the R tree structure. Our experimental results show that the proposed scheme is up to 45 times faster compared to the traditional CPU based bulk loading schemes.

        개량체 기둥지지 성토공법의 지오그리드 보강효과에 대한 수치해석

        최근 연약지반에 도로 또는 철도 제방을 축조하는 경우 말뚝 또는 개량체 기둥을 연약지반에 설치한 후에 성토하는 말뚝(또는 기둥)지지 성토공법이 많이 적용되고 있다. 이 공법은 지반아칭 현상을 이용해서 제방하중의 상당한 부분을 말뚝 또는 기둥을 통해서 지지층으로 전달함으로써 기초지반의 전단파괴를 방지하고 또한 침하량을 효율적으로 경감시킬 수 있다. 그러나 말뚝 또는 기둥지지 성토제방의 경우 말뚝(또는 기둥)과 미개량 원지반 사이의 부등침하로 인하여 노면의 요철이 발생하는 문제점이 노출되었다. 이러한 부등침하를 경감시키기 위하여 토목섬유로 보강한 토목섬유보강 말뚝(또는 기둥)지지 성토공법을 적용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 2차원 유한요소 프로그램인 PLAXIS 2D를 이용하여 시멘트 개량체 기둥으로 지지된 성토제방과 지오그리드를 이용해서 보강한 기둥지지 성토제방의 지반아칭 효과를 비교・분석하였다. 유한요소해석 결과 기둥지지 성토제방의 경우 면적치환비가 증가할수록 응력감소비가 감소하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 지오그리드로 보강한 기둥지지 성토제방의 경우 면적치환비와 지지형식에 따라 부등침하량과 응력감소비의 경감효과가 다소 간의 차이를 보이기는 하나 상대적으로 강성이 큰 지오그리드로 보강하였을 경우 부등침하량과 응력감소비 경감효과가 더 크게 나타났다. 그리고 지오그리드로 보강하면 부등침하를 효율적으로 경감시킬 수 있다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. Pile or column supported embankments have been increasingly employed to construct highway or railway embankments over soft soils. Piles or columns of stiffer material installed in the soft ground can provide the necessary support by transferring the embankment load to a firm stratum using a soil arching. However, there has been reported to occur a relatively large differential settlement between the piles and the untreated soils. Geosynthetic reinforced pile or column supported embankment (GRPS) is often used to minimize the differential settlement. Two dimensional finite element anlyses have been performed on both the column supported embankments and the geogrid reinforced column supported embankments by using a PLAXIS 2D to evaluate the soil arching effect. Based on the results obtained from finite element analyses, the stress reduction ratio decreases as the area replacement ratio increases in the column supported embankments. For the geogrid reinforced column supported embankments, the geogrid reinforcemnt can reduce differential settlements effectively. In additon, the use of stiffer geogrid is appeared to be more effective in reducing the differential settlements.

        재래닭 경제 형질에 대한 유전모수 추정

        본 연구는 재래닭 흑색, 적갈색, 흑색 3계통의 경제 형질에 대하여 유전모수 및 상관관계를 추정하였고, 이용된 자료는 국립축산과학원에서 보유하고 있는 2000년부터 2007년까지 총 14,421수를 이용하였다. 계통별 분석에서 흑색 계통이 150일령 체중 및 270일령 체중에서 가장 높았으며, 황갈색 계통은 270일령 산란수에서 가장 많았다. 유전모수 추정결과 흑색 계통에서 시산 일령, 150일령 체중, 시산 난중, 270일령 체중, 270일령 난중 및 270일령 산라수의 유전력이 각각 0.32, 0.50, 0.31, 0.43, 0.48 및 0.69로 나타났고, 적갈색 계통은 각각 0.42, 0.41, 0.19, 0.48, 0.44 및 0.76으로, 황갈색 계통은 각각 0.44, 0.52, 0.24, 0.54, 0.51 및 0.66으로 나타났다. 유전상관에서는 시산 일령과 150일령 체중, 시산 일령과 270일령 산란수, 150일령 체중과 시산 난중에서 부의 상관이 나타났고, 표현형 상관에서는 유전상관과 마찬가지로 부의 상관을 나타내었으나 저도의 상관을 나타내었다. This study was conducted to estimate heritabilities, genectic and phenotypic correlations on economic traits in three strains of Korean Native chickens (KNC) : Black (B), Red Brown (RB) and Yellow Brown (YB). The data used in this study were collected from 2000 to 2007 in the National Institute of Animal Science and a total number was 14,421 birds. The effect of the strains analysis showed that the strain B were greater than the other strains for body weight at 150 days and 270 days. The number of egg production at 270 days of the strain YB was higher than the other strains. The estimated heritabilities age at 1<SUP>st</SUP> egg, body weight at 150 days, egg weight at 1<SUP>st</SUP> egg, body weight at 270 days, egg weight at 270 days and number of egg production at 270 days were 0.32, 0.50, 0.31, 0.43, 0.48 and 0.69 for strain B; were 0.42, 0.41, 0.19, 0.48, 0.44 and 0.76 for strain RB; were 0.44, 0.52, 0.24, 0.54, 0.51 and 0.66 for strain YB respectively, The genetic and phenotypic correlations were also estimated.

        홀소자와 자기코어를 이용한 하이브리드 및 전기자동차용 전류센서 제작

        A current sensor is one of important component which is used for the electrical current measurement during charge and discharge of the battery, and monitoring system of the motor controller in the electric and hybrid vehicle. In this study, we have developed an open loop type current sensor using GaAs Hall sensor and magnetic core has an air gap. The Hall sensor detect magnetic field produced by the current to be measured. The 3 mm air gap core was made by HGO electrical steel sheets after slitting, winding, annealing, molding, and cutting. Developed current sensor shows 0.03 % linearity within DC current range from ?400 A to +400 A. Operating temperature range was extended to the range of ?40~105 oC using temperature compensating electronic circuit. To Improve frequency bandwidth limit due to the air flux of PCB (Printed Circuit Board) and Hall sensor, We employed an air flux compensating loop near Hall sensor or on PCB. Frequency bandwidth of the sensor was 100 kHz when we applied sine wave current of 40 A·turn in the frequency range from 100 Hz to 100 kHz. For the dynamic response time measurement, 5 kHz square wave current of 40 A·turn was applied to the sensor. Response time was calculated time reach to 90 % of saturation value and smaller than 2 μs.

        The Outcomes of Selection in a Closed Herd on a Farm in Operation

        A herd of Berkshire pigs was established in 2003 and subjected to selection without introduction of any genetic resources until 2007. The complete pedigree, including 410 boars and 916 sows, as well as the records from 5,845 pigs and 822 litters were used to investigate the results obtained from the selections. The index of selection for breeding values included days to 90 kg (D90kg), backfat thickness (BF) and number of piglets born alive (NBA). The average inbreeding coefficients of pigs were found to be 0.023, 0.008, 0.013, 0.025, 0.026, and 0.005 from 2003 to 2007, respectively. The genetic gains per year were 12.1 g, -0.04 mm, -3.13 days, and 0.181 head for average daily gain (ADG), BF, D90kg, and NBA, respectively. Breeding values of ADG, BF and D90kg were not significantly correlated with inbreeding coefficients of individuals, except for NBA (-0.21). The response per additional 1% of inbreeding was 0.0278 head reduction in NBA. The annual increase of inbreeding was 0.23% and the annual decrease in NBA due to inbreeding was 0.0064 head. This magnitude could be disregarded when compared with the annual gain in NBA (0.181 head). These results suggest that inbreeding and inbreeding depression on ordinary farms can be controlled with a proper breeding scheme and that breeding programs are economical and safe relative to the risks associated with importation of pigs.
