Shu-Wen Liu 한국사회복지학회 2013 Asian Social Work and Policy Review Vol.7 No.2
Many agencies actively recruit bilingual social workers. This study presents the reactions of 10Chinese bilingual social workers to the expectations and demands of their agencies. The studyemployed a qualitative design with a phenomenological approach. The participants’ responsesprovide insight into how they manage ethnic and cultural mental health issues in Chinese populations. This study aims to improve social service delivery for clients with limited English proficiencyby identifying effective, culturally competent services. The findings suggest that whenhiring bilingual social workers, it is just as important for them to be culturally competent as itis for them to be an ethnic or language match with the client base. Having all of these qualitieswill result in staff members who can provide more effective services by making accurate diagnosesand identifying appropriate treatment plans. In addition to employing bilingual social workers,it is important to maintain good supervision as this will allow supervisees to have a uniqueperspective on what is involved in providing effective delivery of services to clients with limitedEnglish proficiency. Implications for research, practice, and policy are discussed.

There is a problem which is large manpower consumption on contract sweet potato field when measure the soil moisture, control weeds, pests and diseases currently. In addition, serious problems of aging and labor shortage are especially troublesome in domestic rural areas. Therefore, we develop a management system combined sensor, single-chip control module and real-time irrigation module to meet the needs. Throughout the wireless signal transmission, the management of operating system with instant control and output data achieves intelligent control. At present, the system has been able to collect moisture data from field and to do the corresponding treatment immediately. At the same time, upload the data to cloud, then we can monitor field in real-time. With the establishment of the database, we have been to achieve long-term or short-term analysis and management. We really hope that the result can enhance the intelligence of agricultural technology, increase farmers profits, sustain development of agriculture and keep competitiveness.
A Fast Kernel Regression Framework for Video Super-Resolution
( Wen-sen Yu ),( Ming-hui Wang ),( Hua-wen Chang ),( Shu-qing Chen ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2014 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.8 No.1
A series of kernel regression (KR) algorithms, such as the classic kernel regression (CKR), the 2- and 3-D steering kernel regression (SKR), have been proposed for image and video super-resolution. In existing KR frameworks, a single algorithm is usually adopted and applied for a whole image/video, regardless of region characteristics. However, their performances and computational efficiencies can differ in regions of different characteristics. To take full advantage of the KR algorithms and avoid their disadvantage, this paper proposes a kernel regression framework for video super-resolution. In this framework, each video frame is first analyzed and divided into three types of regions: flat, non-flat-stationary, and non-flat-moving regions. Then different KR algorithm is selected according to the region type. The CKR and 2-D SKR algorithms are applied to flat and non-flat-stationary regions, respectively. For non-flat-moving regions, this paper proposes a similarity-assisted steering kernel regression (SASKR) algorithm, which can give better performance and higher computational efficiency than the 3-D SKR algorithm. Experimental results demonstrate that the computational efficiency of the proposed framework is greatly improved without apparent degradation in performance.
Unactuated Force Control of 5-DOF Parallel Robot Based on Fuzzy PI
Shu-Huan Wen,Wei Zheng,Shi-Dong Jia,Zhi-Xin Ji,Peng-Cheng Hao,Hak-Keung Lam 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2020 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.18 No.6
This paper investigates the fuzzy position/force hybrid control for a class of 5-degree-of-freedom (DOF) redundantly actuated parallel robots. The position control law is designed based on the proportional-integraldifferential (PID) for the 5-DOF redundantly actuated parallel robot. The fuzzy proportional-integral (PI) redundant actuation force control law is designed based on the position/force hybrid control structure for the 5-DOF redundantly actuated parallel robot. The optimum driving force is obtained in the presence of interference, and the force tracking performance of the fuzzy PI controller is better than the conventional PI controller under the interference condition. Based on the fuzzy position/force hybrid controller, the tracking performance of the closed-loop system for the 5-DOF redundantly actuated parallel robot is improved by using the fuzzy position/force hybrid controller and the interference is eliminated effectively in the control system design. Finally, the co-simulation results of ADAMS and MATLAB/SIMULINK are given to show the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed methodscompared with the conventional PI controller.
Entropy function and higher derivative corrections to entropies in (anti-)de Sitter space
Shu, Fu-Wen,Ge, Xian-Hui IOP Publishing Ltd 2008 Journal of high energy physics Vol.2008 No.8
We first briefly discuss the relation between black hole thermodynamics and the entropy function formalism. We find that an equation which governs the relationship between Sen's entropy function and black hole entropy, can quickly give higher order corrections to entropy of pure (anti-) de Sitter space without knowing the corrected metric. We also show that near horizon geometry and the entropy function extremization is no longer required for pure (anti-)de Sitter space. The entropy of (anti-)de Sitter space and Schwarzschild-(anti-) de Sitter black holes together with Gauss-Bonnet terms, <I>R</I>2 terms <B>and</B> <I>R</I>4 terms are calculated as concrete examples.
A Wirelessly Powered Expanding-Extending Robotic Capsule Endoscope for Human Intestine
Shu He,Guo-Zheng Yan,Quan Ke,Zhi-Wu Wang,Wen-Wen Chen 한국정밀공학회 2015 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.
Instruments for GI diagnostics are increasingly moving toward robotic capsule endoscopes because of their locomotion capabilities. This paper presents a wirelessly powered robotic capsule endoscope that can actively move in the small bowel exploiting the expanding–extending principle. After analyzing the demands of the locomotion, a novel radial motion mechanism with a large expanding/retracting radial ratio was designed, as was an axial motion mechanism with a compact structure. A control system with a special position detector to let the micro-motors avoiding stall state was developed to enhance the stability of the mechanism and reduce the robot’s power requirements. The wireless power system enabled the robot to inspect the full length of the intestinal tract. The assembled micro-robot was 14 mm in diameter and 45 mm in length. The maximum anchoring diameter was 32 mm, and the axial telescopic length was 9.5 mm. The test results proved the feasibility of the robot.

Objective: Gastric cancer remains a major health problem in China. We hypothesized that XRCC1 Arg194Trp and ADPRT Val762Ala may be associated with risk. Methods: We designed a multicenter 1:1 matched case-control study of 307 pairs of gastric cancers and controls between October 2010 and August 2011. XRCC1 Arg194Trp and ADPRT Val762Ala were sequenced, and demographic data as well as lifestyle factors were collected using a self-designed questionnaire. Results: Individuals carrying XRCC1 Trp/Trp or Arg/Trp variant genotype had a significantly increased risk of gastric cancer (OR, 1.718; 95% CI, 1.190-2.479), while the OR for ADPRT Val762Ala variant genotype (Ala/Ala or Val/Ala) was 1.175 (95% CI, 0.796-1.737). No gene-gene or gene-environment interactions were found. In addition, family history of cancer and drinkers proportion were higher among cases than among controls (P<0.05). Conclusions: XRCC1 194 Arg/Trp or Trp/Trp genotype, family history of cancer, and drinking are suspected risk factors of gastric cancer from our study. Our findings may offer insight into further similar large gene-environment and gene-gene studies in this region.
Factors Predicting Survival of Patients with Gastric Cancer
Lin, Wen-Li,Sun, Jia-Ling,Chang, Shu-Chan,Wu, Pei-Hua,Huang, Wen-Tsung,Tsao, Chao-Jung Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.14
Background: Gastric cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer death in Taiwan. The literature has previously shown that age, tumor site, T categories, and number of metastatic nodes significantly affect prognosis. The aim of this study was to determine the long-term survival of patients with gastric cancer, as well as the effect of particular prognostic factors on survival. Materials and Methods: This was a survival analysis study with retrospective design. We reviewed the records of 64 patients with adenocarcinoma of the stomach who had undergone gastrectomy with curative intent between 2009 and 2012 at a teaching hospital in southern Taiwan. Data extracted from patient documents included age, gender distribution, tumor location, and pathological grading. Results: The median follow-up time was 4 years, and there were 31 deaths attributed to gastric cancer. Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed that retrieval of less than 15 lymph nodes from a patient was a significant predictor of survival. A significant predictor of poorer survival was higher pathological grading. Conclusions: Our results indicate that the number of lymph nodes retrieved and pathological grading could be viewed as crucial prognostic factors affecting the survival of individuals with gastric cancer.
