Luminescence investigations on LiAl_5O_8:Tb^3+ nanocrystalline phosphors

        Shreyas S. Pitale,Vinay Kumar,Indrajit Nagpure,O.M. Ntwaeaborwa,H.C. Swart 한국물리학회 2011 Current Applied Physics Vol.11 No.3

Tb^3+-doped porous LiAl_5O_8 nanophosphors were successfully synthesized using a single step combustion method. Structural characterization of the luminescent material was carried out with X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). Surface composition was estimated from X-ray photoelectron and Auger spectroscopic techniques. The average particle size was estimated as 37 ± 3 nm. Luminescence properties were studied by the photoluminescence spectroscopy. The phosphor showed intense luminescence in the green region due to the magnetic dipole transition of 5^D_4→7^F_5 of the Tb^3+ ion at 543 nm under 241 nm excitation. The intense 4f―4f transitions of Tb^3+outshine the luminescence from host which would otherwise deteriorate the color quality of the display device under operation.

Diagnosis and Management of Rectal Neuroendocrine Tumors

        Shreya Chablaney,Zachary A. Zator,Nikhil A. Kumta 대한소화기내시경학회 2017 Clinical Endoscopy Vol.50 No.6

The incidence of rectal neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) has increased by almost ten-fold over the past 30 years. There has been a heightened awareness of the malignant potential of rectal NETs. Fortunately, many rectal NETs are discovered at earlier stages due to colon cancer screening programs. Endoscopic ultrasound is useful in assessing both residual tumor burden after retrospective diagnosis and tumor characteristics to help guide subsequent management. Current guidelines suggest endoscopic resection of rectal NETs ≤10 mm as a safe therapeutic option given their low risk of metastasis. Although a number of endoscopic interventions exist, the best technique for resection has not been identified. Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has high complete and en-bloc resection rates, but also an increased risk of complications including perforation. In addition, ESD is only performed at tertiary centers by experienced advanced endoscopists. Endoscopic mucosal resection has been shown to have variable complete resection rates, but modifications to the technique such as the addition of band ligation have improved outcomes. Prospective studies are needed to further compare the available endoscopic interventions, and to elucidate the most appropriate course of management of rectal NETs.

Migration trauma and the script-based self: Transactional analysis with Nepali-Bhutanese refugees

Shreya Vaishnav,Jacob S. Blackstock 한국상담학회 2020 Journal of Asia Pacific counseling Vol.10 No.1

This article highlights the importance of incorporating Transactional Analysis (TA; Berne, 1961) as a counseling intervention into the clinical work with Bhutanese-Nepali refugees. The authors of this article explored the existing literature on the experience of transitioning to a new country and the mental health challenges experienced by Bhutanese-Nepali refugees during their transition. An overview of the effectiveness of TA is provided using a theoretical case vignette with an 18-year-old Bhutanese-Nepali male. The vignette demonstrates conceptualization through ego state contamination and counseling intervention through co-creative TA. The article concludes with limitations, directions for future research, and implications.

Evolution and diversity studies of innate immune genes in Indian buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) breeds using next generation sequencing

        Shreya Patel,Jalpa Thakkar,Subhash Jakhesara,Anand Patel,Sachinandan De,Chaitanya Joshi,Prakash Koringa 한국유전학회 2017 Genes & Genomics Vol.39 No.11

Indian buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) breeds are acknowledged for their disease resistance power, hardiness and considerable milk production. River buffaloes are more disease resistance despite of tropical environment of India than cattle breeds of the world. The genetic polymorphisms of innate immune genes play a prominent role in disease susceptibility of livestock. Here in our study, we mainly focused on SNPs in ten selected candidate innate immune genes viz CHGA, CHGB, CHGC, Slc11a1, Slc11a2, DEFB1, BNBD4, BNBD5, LAP and TAP among three most economically important Indian buffalo breeds viz., Jaffrabadi, Mehsani and Murrah using amplicon sequencing on Ion torrent PGM sequencing platform. Polymorphism identification using by GATK tool of Unified Genotyper revealed 274, 245 and 224 high quality SNPs in Jaffrabadi, Mehsani and Murrah buffalo breeds, respectively as well as 168 common SNPs among these three breeds and uniquely detected SNPs were 31, 15 and 37 SNPs in Jaffrabadi, Mehsani and Murrah breeds respectively. Consequences of non-synonymous SNPs were analysed using several computational tools viz., I-Mutant, SIFT, PolyPhen and PROVEAN which identified three deleterious nsSNPs. This wealth of sequence information will be productive for conservation studies, selective breeding and designing future strategies for identifying disease associations.

Progress in Speech Decoding from the Electrocorticogram

        Shreya Chakrabarti,Hilary M. Sandberg,Jonathan S. Brumberg,Dean J. Krusienski 대한의용생체공학회 2015 Biomedical Engineering Letters (BMEL) Vol.5 No.1

Recent advances in neuroimaging methods have improvedour ability to explore the neurological processes underlyingspeech and language. As a result of these investigations, it isnow possible to decode aspects of speech directly fromneural activity toward the development of neuroprostheticdevices for individuals with severe neuromuscular andcommunication disorders. Much of what is known about theneural correlates of speech articulation and perception isbased on lesion and cortical electrical stimulation studies, aswell as modern non-invasive neuroimaging. Though extremelyimportant to the current understanding of brain function, traditional neuroimaging methods are primarily limited bythe spatial and temporal resolution of the imaging technique. Electrical activity measured from the cortex, or electrocorticography(ECoG), offers several advantages over otherneuroimaging modalities for characterization and real-timedecoding of brain activity. Specifically, ECoG is well-suitedfor the study of speech and language owing to its uniquespatial and temporal resolution capabilities that allow it toaccurately capture the fast-changing dynamics of the largecortical networks underlying speech processing. This reviewpresents the current progress of ECoG-based speech characterizationand decoding studies, including an overview ofprior neuroimaging studies, ECoG representations of speechproduction and perception, and a discussion of future directions.

Dynamic Computation Offloading Based on Q-Learning for UAV-Based Mobile Edge Computing

        Shreya Khisa,모상만 (사)한국스마트미디어학회 2023 스마트미디어저널 Vol.12 No.3

Emerging mobile edge computing (MEC) can be used in battery-constrained Internet of things (IoT). The execution latency of IoT applications can be improved by offloading computation-intensive tasks to an MEC server. Recently, the popularity of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has increased rapidly, and UAV-based MEC systems are receiving considerable attention. In this paper, we propose a dynamic computation offloading paradigm for UAV-based MEC systems, in which a UAV flies over an urban environment and provides edge services to IoT devices on the ground. Since most IoT devices are energy-constrained, we formulate our problem as a Markov decision process considering the energy level of the battery of each IoT device. We also use model-free Q-learning for time-critical tasks to maximize the system utility. According to our performance study, the proposed scheme can achieve desirable convergence properties and make intelligent offloading decisions.

      • Ontology Driven Meta-Modeling for NoSQL Databases: A Conceptual Perspective

Shreya Banerjee,Anirban Sarkar 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Software Engineering and Vol.10 No.12

In cloud environment, data intensive applications required to interact with various kinds of databases ranged from SQL (Structured Query Language) to NoSQL. NoSQL databases have wide-ranging physical level data models like key-value, document, column oriented, graph etc. Designing such databases are complex due to absence of well-accepted common meta-modeling concepts for varied physical level data model. Thus, research challenges are exist towards achieving common interpretation of data and their semantics at conceptual level over disparate databases. In this paper, an ontology driven meta-model, called Ontology Driven NoSQL Data Model (ODNSDM), is proposed to conceptualize data representation facets over heterogeneous kinds of databases. The novelty of the proposed approach is to provide common conceptual level abstraction based on semantically enriched formal vocabularies for both NoSQL and SQL databases. The formal vocabularies are further implemented using an ontology editorial tool Protégé based on OWL (Web Ontology Language). Several crucial properties of the proposed model are also prescribed in this paper. In addition, the proposed framework is illustrated using case studies in order to show its practical exhibition. Moreover, step wise algorithms are to map the proposed conceptualization towards SQL and NoSQL based databases.

Detecting Emotions related to Mental Health on Social Media using various Machine Learning Techniques

        Shreya Reddy,Sabah Mohammed 한국컴퓨터게임학회 2021 한국컴퓨터게임학회논문지 Vol.34 No.2

Mental health problems leading to depression have become a critical concern due to the growing engagement of people on social media platforms. Several past approaches have been implemented by analyzing the pattern and behaviour of the posts by users on social networking sites. This research study proposed a system for predicting users who may be depressed, based on the characteristics of users who is already affected. A combination of both the tweet-level and the user-level architecture was used to generate a more robust and reliable system where semantic embeddings trained from advanced neural networks were adopted under the tweet-level. SVM with Word2Vec and TF-IDF has been used and yielded an accuracy of 98.14% and recall of 95.63%.

Effects of Various Machine Parameters on Cutting Performance for High-speed Cutting of Paddy Crop

        Modak Shreyas,Raheman Hifjur 한국농업기계학회 2022 바이오시스템공학 Vol.47 No.2

Purpose To achieve optimised cutting performance at higher forward speeds of existing combine harvesters, performance evaluation of available cutting systems was conducted to cut paddy crop (variety: Indrayani). Methods A tractor operated laboratory test set-up consisting of 1-m-wide cutterbar, reel and auger was developed. Freshly uprooted paddy crop was held upright using crop holder assemblies. Knife speed, cutting stroke and forward speed were iterated through set of design of experiments and dependent parameters like cutting force, specific cutting energy and overall cutting efficiency were measured. The results were then analysed and operating parameters were optimised for maximising the forward speed. The cutting performance with optimised parameters was then validated in the laboratory by operating test set-up at optimised settings. Results It was found that, with increase in the knife speed from 450 to 600 rpm at an interval of 50 rpm, the absolute cutting force was observed to be decreased; however, reverse trend was observed with increase in the cutting stroke from 50.8 to 101.6mmand forward speed from 2 to 6 km h−1. Statistically stroke length was the most significant factor (α = 0.01) impacting the cutting force and specific cutting energy requirement, followed by forward speed and knife speed. Overall cutting efficiency increased with increase in the knife speed and stroke length; however, a reverse trend was observed with increased forward speed. Highest forward speed of 6 km h−1 was achieved by setting the cutting system at knife speed of 600 rpm and stroke length of 76.2 mm, where peak absolute specific cutting energy, peak absolute cutting force and overall cutting efficiency were 162.9 kJ m−2, 1212.7 N and 86.4%, respectively. Validation experiments show a strong positive correlation coefficient of 0.944, 0.988 and 0.985 for peak absolute cutting force, peak absolute specific cutting energy and overall cutting efficiency respectively. Conclusions Thus, forward speed of existing combine harvesters could be increased at improved levels of cutting efficiency with the said optimization approach.
