The metabolism of carbohydrate, fatty acids, and amino acids is greatly affected by acute exercise training. In this review, we summarized the most recevt of the effects of exercise on the metabolism of the substrates used for energy production. We focused mainly on the regulation of glucose transport system, glycolysis, and pyruvate dehydrogenase complex in the glucose metabolism, on the regulation of fatty acid oxidation and the interaction between glucose and fatty acid oxidation in the fatty acid metabolism, on the regulation of branched-chain amino acid catabolism in the amino acid metabolism. The evidence summarizd in this review allows us to understand the molecular mechanisms responsible for the of exercise on the metabolism

Plant-derived compounds such as essential oils (EOs) are sources of protection for stored products. In some cases, inactive ingredients that co-occur with EOs may render them more toxic or less desirable. Thus, there has been a shift away from extract-based crude mixtures to single repellent substances. The repellency activity of the capsaicin agonist, vanillyl butyl ether (VBE), which is a thermal-sense compound affecting the transient receptor potential vanilloid (TRPV) 1 channel of mammals, was investigated for control of the red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum. The repellency activity of VBE was dose-dependent and almost comparative to DEET in an area preference test. To clarify the mode of action, RNA interference (RNAi) was used for transcriptional knockdown of two TRPV channels, Nanchung (TcNan) or Inactive (TcIav). Reduction of each of the transcript levels led to a significant decrease in VBE repellency activity, but no significant decrease in DEET repellency. These results suggested that the repellency activity of VBE was mediated by the TRPV channels, and capsaicin agonists might serve as an alternative to EOs for the protection of stored products.
Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) as nutraceuticals for exercise
( Yoshiharu Shimomura ),( Yasuyuki Kitaura ),( Juichi Sato ) 한국운동영양학회 2011 Physical Activity and Nutrition (Phys Act Nutr) Vol.15 No.3
Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs: leucine, isoleucine and valine) are essential amino acids for humans and animals. It has been shown that BCAA oxidation is promoted by exercise through activation of branched-chain α-keto acid dehydrogenase complex (BCKDC), which is a rate-limiting enzyme in the catabolic pathway of the BCAAs, and the elevated enzyme activity in skeletal muscle is quickly downregulated after exercise. This tight regulation of the BCKDC is consistent with stimulation of protein synthesis after exercise in skeletal muscle. With this background, it is interesting to consider the BCAAs as a supplement for sports. We conducted a human study to examine the effects of BCAA supplementation on the delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) induced by squatting exercises. The results clearly showed that BCAA supplementation significantly reduced DOMS evaluated by a visual analog scale method and maintained leg muscle force during the period of DOMS. Other studies using different types of exercise support our findings, suggesting that BCAA supplements are useful for conditioning of skeletal muscle after exercise.
Deuteration-induced Ferromagnetic Metallic Properties in R7Rh3Dx (R = Tb, Dy)
Koji Shimomura,Takanori Tsutaoka,Stanislaw M. Filipek,Ryutaro Sato 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.63 No.3
The magnetic and the electrical properties of the R7Rh3 deuterides Tb7Rh3D27 and Dy7Rh3D27have been studied by measuring the magnetization, magnetic susceptibility and electrical resistivity. Tb7Rh3D27 and Dy7Rh3D27 show a ferromagnetic property below TC = 62 K and 23.5 K, respectively;a metallic state is induced by deuteration. The deuteration-induced magnetic transitionin these compounds can be realized by a competition between the inter- and intra-layer exchangeinteractions. The deuteration-induced semimetal to metal transition can be attributed to a modifi-cation of the energy band structure produced by a lattice expansion due to protons located in theinterstitial positions and/or additional electrons originating from the dissociation of deuterium.

This study aimed at providing suggestions in designing open space so that parks and bordering facilities are well related to each other in terms of the visual access and human activities. The design survey was conducted in the center of Osaka City, using parks there as the study material. The relation between parks and their bordering facilities was evaluated in terms of the visual access and human activities. Through the results of this study, as the design methods for improving relations between parks and their bordering facilities, unified design and creation of square in the boundary area between them, placing access paths to facilities in parks, and planting trees to create Vista, Screen, and Framework landscapes are of great importance.
