Optical Encryption Scheme with Multiple Users Based on Computational Ghost Imaging and Orthogonal Modulation

        Sheng Yuan,Xuemei Liu,Xin Zhou,Zhongyang Li 한국광학회 2016 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.20 No.4

For the application of multiusers, the arrangement and distribution of the keys is a much concerningproblem in a cryptosystem. In this paper, we propose an optical encryption scheme with multiple usersbased on computational ghost imaging (CGI) and orthogonal modulation. The CGI encrypts the secret imageinto an intensity vector rather than a complex-valued matrix. This will bring convenience for post-processingand transmission of the ciphertext. The orthogonal vectors are taken as the address codes to distinguishusers and avoid cross-talk. Only the decryption key and the address code owned by an authorized userare matched, the secret image belonging to him/her could be extracted from the ciphertext. Therefore, thereare two security levels in the encryption scheme. The feasibility and property are verified by numericalsimulations.

Remarkably low genetic diversity and shallow population structure detected of the spiny eel (Sinobdella sinensis) in Eastern China

        Sheng Yuan,Meijian Liu,Ziming Zhao 한국유전학회 2020 Genes & Genomics Vol.42 No.11

Background The spiny eel (Sinobdella sinensis) is a small subtropical fish endemic to China, Vietnam, and Laos. It hasdisappeared in many rivers and lakes due to anthropogenic stressors. Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the genetic diversity and population structure and to provide pertinentinformation of the evolutionary history and conservation of S. sinensis. Methods Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) cytochrome c oxidase I (COI) sequences of 144 individuals from five lakes in theJiangsu Province of Eastern China were sequenced. Results A total of 17 haplotypes were defined by 20 variable nucleotide sites. Remarkably low haplotype and nucleotidediversity was observed in all sampled populations. The AMOVA analyses revealed that 96.44% of the genetic variationoccurred within the populations. Significant genetic differentiation was detected among populations (P < 0.05), but nolarge-scale regional differences were detected. Analysis of neutral evolution and mismatch distribution suggests populationexpansion. Low genetic diversity and shallow population structure based on COI sequences were also confirmed. Conclusions The wild resource of S. sinensis in Eastern China has sharply declined. Low genetic diversity and shallowpopulation structure based on COI sequences were confirmed. Fishing management and resource conservation of this speciesshould be taken urgently.

Simple denoising method for novel speckle-shifting ghost imaging with connected-region labeling

        Sheng Yuan,Xuemei Liu,Pibin Bing 한국광학회 2019 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.3 No.3

A novel speckle-shifting ghost imaging (SSGI) technique is proposed in this paper. This method can effectively extract the edge of an unknown object without achieving its clear ghost image beforehand. However, owing to the imaging mechanism of SSGI, the imaging result generally contains serious noise. To solve the problem, we further propose a simple and effective method to remove noise from the speckle-shifting ghost image with a connected-region labeling (CRL) algorithm. In this method, two ghost images of an object are first generated according to SSGI. A threshold and the CRL are then used to remove noise from the imaging results in turn. This method can retrieve a high-quality image of an object with fewer measurements. Numerical simulations are carried out to verify the feasibility and effectiveness.

Fuzzy C-means Clustering Analysis Based on Quantum Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm for the Grouping of Rock Discontinuity Sets

        Shengyuan Song,Qing Wang,Jianping Chen,Yanyan Li,Wen Zhang,Yunkai Ruan 대한토목학회 2017 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.21 No.4

Rock discontinuities significantly influence the deformation as well as strength of rock masses. One of the basic analyses for rock engineering is categorizing discontinuities with similar orientations into groups. In this study, an improved FCM method is proposed to identify rock discontinuity sets automatically. The method is established on account of quantum particle swarm optimization, which could achieve the global optimization as well as becomes insensitive to the initial cluster centers. Benchmark case with artificial data and discontinuity data exposed from the Songta dam area are utilized to test the validity of the new algorithm. The test results demonstrate that the new algorithm could well divide discontinuity data. The grouping results acquired by the new algorithm are similar to those of several other methods, which are commonly used to divide discontinuity sets. The main advantage of this method is that achieves a global optimum without selecting proper initial cluster centers.

SPRY4-IT1 promotes survival of colorectal cancer cells through regulating PDK1-mediated glycolysis

        Liu Shengyuan,Huang Feng,Ye Qing,Li Yangming,Chen Jinhu,Huang Hong 한국통합생물학회 2020 Animal cells and systems Vol.24 No.4

Colorectal cancer (CRC) becomes the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide recently. The prognosis of CRC is still poor in decades, and targeted therapy is still a potential effective treatment. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) could regulate series of cellular functions and developmental processes. LncRNA-SPRY4-IT1 (GenBank ID AK024556) is derived from an intron of the SPRY4 gene, which was highly expressed in melanoma cells and affected the progression of multiple types of cancers. However, the mechanism of SPRY4-IT1 in CRC progression remains unclear. Herein, we found the high level of SPRY4-IT1 in human colorectal cancer (CRC) tissues and cells, and correlated with patients’ prognosis. We further noticed that SPRY4-IT1 regulated CRC cell growth and glycolysis, and promoting PDK1 expression. Our data further confirmed that SPRY4-IT1 regulated CRC progression targeting PDK1. We therefore thought SPRY4-IT1 could serve as a promising molecular target for the treatment of CRC.

Actuator Fault Detection for Discrete-time Switched Linear Systems with Output Disturbance

Dongsheng Du,Shengyuan Xu 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2017 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.15 No.6

In this paper, the problem of actuator fault detection for discrete-time switched systems with outputdisturbance is investigated. By using the descriptor observer method, an H∞ fault detection filter is designed toguarantee that the augmented system is admissible and satisfies a prescribed H∞ performance index. By utilizingswitched Lyapunov function approach, a sufficient condition for the admissible of the augmented system is obtained. Based on the obtained results, a desired fault detection filter can be designed. All the results are formulated in theform of linear matrix inequalities. Finally, an example is proposed to illustrate the effectiveness of the developedmethod.

Delay-Dependent Guaranteed Cost Control for Uncertain Neutral Systems with Distributed Delays

Yongmin Li,Shengyuan Xu,Baoyong Zhang,Yuming Chu 대한전기학회 2008 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.6 No.1

This paper considers the problem of delay-dependent guaranteed cost controller design for uncertain neutral systems with distributed delays. The system under consideration is subject to norm-bounded time-varying parametric uncertainty appearing in all the matrices of the state-space model. By constructing appropriate Lyapunov functionals and using matrix inequality techniques, a state feedback controller is designed such that the resulting closed-loop system is not only robustly stable but also guarantees an adequate level of performance for all admissible uncertainties. Furthermore, a convex optimization problem is introduced to minimize a specified cost bound. By matrix transformation techniques, the corresponding optimal guaranteed controller can be obtained by solving a linear matrix inequality. Finally, a simulation example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Pirfenidone ameliorated AGE-induced EMT and attenuated peritoneal fibrosis in peritoneal mesothelial cells

        Fenglin Xiao,Shengyuan Wang,Zhiyong Zhang,Hai Yu,Mingxu Li 대한독성 유전단백체 학회 2021 Molecular & cellular toxicology Vol.17 No.3

Background Peritoneal dialysis has greatly improved patient survival for patients with chronic kidney disease. However, peritoneal fibrosis is a progressive fibrotic peritoneal disease caused by dialysis, which may lead to ineffective dialysis or dialysis failure. It is well known that the EMT of peritoneal mesenchymal cells has been known to contribute to peritoneal fibrosis. Therefore, at present, inhibiting the formation and development of EMT has become the focus of peritoneal fibrosis. Objectives Pirfenidone has shown clinically relevant benefits in patients with pulmonary fibrosis, however, there is no research on peritoneal fibrosis. Thus, we examined the effect of pirfenidone on AGE-driven EMT in peritoneal mesenchymal cells and assessed its efficacy in inhibiting peritoneal fibrosis. Results AGEs were added with or without pirfenidone to the culture medium of HMrSV5 cells and we detected the changes of EMT and the signaling pathways involved. AGEs greatly reduced the E-cadherin level and augmented the α–SMA and vimentin expression. However, these effects were dramatically suppressed by pirfenidone treatment. Meanwhile, the reactive oxygen species (ROS) induced by AGEs were suppressed by pirfenidone. Furthermore, under the action of AGEs, pirfenidone activated the nuclear transport of Nrf2, and accelerated the production of antioxidant factors. Conclusion Pirfenidone could attenuate AGE-mediated EMT in HPMCs and might be a promising therapeutic drug to antagonize peritoneal fibrosis.

Comprehensive evaluation method for user interface design in nuclear power plant based on mental workload

Yu Chen,Shengyuan Yan,Cong Chi Tran 한국원자력학회 2019 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.51 No.2

Mental workload (MWL) is a major consideration for the user interface design in nuclear power plants(NPPs). However, each MWL evaluation method has its advantages and limitations, thus the evaluationand control methods based on multi-index methods are needed. In this study, fuzzy comprehensiveevaluation (FCE) theory was adopted for assessment of interface designs in NPP based on operators'MWL. An evaluation index system and membership functions were established, and the weights weregiven using the combination of the variation coefficient and the entropy method. The results showed thatmulti-index methods such as performance measures (speed of task and error rate), subjective rating(NASA-TLX) and physiological measure (eye response) can be successfully integrated in FCE for userinterface design assessment. The FCE method has a correlation coefficient compared with most of theoriginal evaluation indices. Thus, this method might be applied for developing the tool to quickly andaccurately assess the different display interfaces when considering the aspect of the operators' MWL.
