        An effective cellulose triacetate interlayer to construct a dendrite-free zinc anode for advanced aqueous zinc-ion batteries

        For Zn anodes of aqueous rechargeable zinc-ion batteries, the poor electrochemical performance causedby undesirable zinc dendritic formation and side reactions limit their practical application. Herein, a Zn2+redistributor is created to reduce dendrites growth by inserting a cellulose triacetate (CTA) film as aninterlayer between the zinc anode and the separator. The zinc dendritic formation and side reactionscan be suppressed by the CTA interlayer. Consequently, the Zn anode covered by CTA interlayer exhibitshighly reversible plating/stripping behavior with lifetime exceeding 2500 h and 600 h at current densitiesof 1 and 5 mA cm2, respectively. In particular, the electrochemical performance of the full cells is investigatedby using VO2 as the cathode and the CTA as interlayer. The Zn + CTA||VO2 full cells exhibit superiorperformance including high reversible capacity (490.2 mAh g1 at 0.2 A g1), excellent cycle performance(60.2% and 71.5% capacity retention after 5000 cycles at 5 A g1 and 10 A g1) and superior rate performance. This work demonstrates that designing a CTA interlayer is considered a cost-effective strategy tolight up the practical application of aqueous zinc-ion batteries.

        Structural and nanomechanical properties of a-plane ZnO thin films deposited under different oxygen partial pressures

        The effects of O2 partial pressure during RF magnetron sputtering on the structural and nanomechanical properties of a-plane ZnO thin films were investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and nanoindentation techniques. The XRD and the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) selected area diffraction results indicate that the epitaxial relationship between ZnO thin films and Al2O3 substrates is ZnO ð1120Þ//Al2O3 ð1102Þ. The average values of the hardness and Young’s modulus of the a-plane ZnO films were found to decrease with increasing oxygen partial pressure. The cross-sectional TEM revealing the localized plastic deformation of ZnO thin films beneath the Berkovich indenter, indicating the prominent role played by the threading dislocations in the film deformation behavior. At higher indentation loadings, the sapphire substrate exhibits extensive deformation with narrow slip bands appearing on {0001} plane. However, no evidence of pressure-induced phase transformation, as well as cracking and/or delamination phenomena at the filmesubstrate interface was observed.

        Study and Design of High Strength and Low Heat Generation Polymer Composites by Molecular Dynamics Simulation

        The molecular dynamics simulation was used to study and design a polymer composites system with excellent mechanical strength and less heat generation in a dynamic process. A series of system factors such as filler loading, surface modification onto filler, and network of cross-linking filler particles on mechanical and heat generation of polymer composites are systematically considered. It is found that the surface grafting onto fillers can restrain the heat generation of polymer composite in the dynamic process, while it shows less effect on the mechanical property. A network of cross-linking filler particles can be fabricated by a combination of grafting chains onto fillers. By filling such a network into the polymer, the mechanical and heat generation properties of polymer composites are significantly improved. Simulation results can help experimental fabrication of polymer composites with excellent mechanical and heat generation properties.

      • hARIP2 is a Putative Growth-promoting Factor Involved in Human Colon Tumorigenesis

        Activin is a multifunctional growth and differentiation factor of the growth factor-beta (TGF-${\beta}$) superfamily, which inhibits the proliferation of colon cancer cells. It induces phosphorylation of intracellular signaling molecules (Smads) by interacting with its type I and type II receptors. Previous studies showed that human activin receptor-interacting protein 2 (hARIP2) can reduce activin signaling by interacting with activin type II receptors; however, the activity of hARIP2 in colon cancer has yet to be detailed. In vitro, overexpression of hARIP2 reduced activin-induced transcriptional activity and enhanced cell proliferation and colony formation in human colon cancer HCT8 cells and SW620 cells. Also, hARIP2 promoted colon cancer cell apoptosis, suggesting that a vital role in the initial stage of colon carcinogenesis. In vivo, immunohistochemistry revealed that hARIP2 was expressed more frequently and much more intensely in malignant colon tissues than in controls. These results indicate that hARIP2 is involved in human colon tumorigenesis and could be a predictive maker for colon carcinoma aggressiveness.

      • Design of a Bidirectional DC/AC Converter with Battery Charging/Discharging/Standing Balance Control

        Battery cells connected in series have been widely used in high-voltage and high-power applications. In this paper, a single-phase battery energy storage system with battery balance charging, battery balance discharging, and power factor correction capabilities was developed. A prototype suitable for a single-phase 110V power supply was designed and implemented for verification. To verify its performance, three 48V/7Ah battery modules were used as normal batteries, and a 48V/5Ah battery module was used as a retired battery. The experimental results showed that the battery energy storage system has excellent battery balancing capability. Compared with that of the conventional system without balanced control, the balancing performance of the proposed system is increased by about 15.25% and 26.92%, respectively, when the system was operated in the converter and rectifier modes. In addition, the proposed system also had battery fault tolerance, and was compatible with recycled batteries and an independent power supply.

        ‘초점 없는 상호작용’

        한중 양국 정부기관 및 기업들은 상호 적극적 협력 의사를 바탕으로 다양한 비즈니스 교류를 진행하고 있지만 실질적, 지속적인 협력이 진행되고 있지 못하고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 한중 비즈니스 교류의 특징을 양국 간 상호대화가 한 점에서 수렴하기 위한 ‘포컬 포인트’ 부재로 발생하는 ‘초점 없는 상호작용’으로 개념화하고 그 원인을 한중 문화 간 차이에서 발생하는 것임을 실증 분석했다. 이를 위한 이론적 분석틀로 양국의 행위자의 상호작용을 관계와 내용 차원으로 개념화한 ‘관계 커뮤니케이션 이론’을 적용하였다. 실증적 분석을 위해 한국 중소기업의 중국 내수시장 진출을 위한 한중 간 비즈니스 교류가 진행된 현장 데이터를 수집하여 질적 내용분석을 진행했고, 중국 내수 시장 진출을 위해 한국 정부, 유관 기관, 경제단체들의 대중국 인식 및 대응 전략에 관한 자료, 신문기사, 논문 등 기존 문헌에 대한 문헌분석을 진행했다. 분석 결과 ‘초점 없는 상호작용’은 불확실성에 대한 한중 양국의 상반된 인식과 그 대응전략의 차이에 인한 것으로, 이는 불확실성 회피 성향이라는 문화적 요인에 기인하는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 불확실성 회피 성향이 강한 한국은 ‘정보 차원의 대화’를 통해 불확실성을 감소시키려 하고, 회피 성향이 약한 중국은 ‘관계 차원의 대화’를 통해 불확실성을 흡수하려고 함으로써 발생한다. 이는 한국의 ‘정책 분석’과 중국의 ‘정책 실험’, 한국의 시장 내지위 정보와 MOU를 통한 ‘제도 의존적 신뢰’형성과 중국의 ‘다리 놓기’ 전략을 통한 ‘과정 지향적 신뢰’형성이라는 상반된 형태로 나타나고 있다. There has not been effective and continuous cooperation between Korean and Chinese government, institutions and other enterprises, through various kinds of mutual collaboration though. This investigation names this features ‘Unfocused Interaction’ which comes from being without focal point for gathering communications between each country, and finds out its causes from cultural gap between each country. As a tool for the theoretical investigation, this study applies relational communication theory which is conceptualized by relationship dimension and content dimension from both countries’ actors. To look into further and actually, this study collected materials for business communication from Korean SMEs’ entering Chinese market and conducted qualitative content analysis. It also carried out document analysis previous information such as published materials, newspapers and journals regarding recognition and strategy against Chinese domestic market faced to Korean government, related institutions and economic groups. It concluded ‘Unfocused Interaction’ coming out from each country’s opposite awareness and dealing strategy against uncertainty, which comes from cultural difference when coping with uncertainty avoidance tendency. Korean has strong tendency and it tries to decrease this with content dimension of dialogue while Chinese absorbs this uncertainty with relationship dimension of dialogue. This shows out conflicting formations between both countries e.g. policy analysis (Korea) vs. policy experiment(China), Institutional-based Trust through status signals in Korean market vs. Process-based Trust through building a bridge strategy(China).

        Adenoviral Vector Mediates High Expression Levels of Human Lactoferrin in the Milk of Rabbits

        The limitations in current technology for generating transgenic animals, such as the time and the expense, hampered its extensive use in recombinant protein production for therapeutic purpose. In this report, we present a simple and less expensive alternative by directly infusing a recombinant adenovirus vector carrying human lactoferrin cDNA into rabbit mammary glands. The milk serum was collected from the infected mammary gland 48 h post-infection and subjected to a 10% SDS-PAGE and Western blotting. An 80-kDa protein was visualized after viral vector infection. With this method, we obtained a high level of expressed human lactoferrin of up to 2.3 mg/ml in the milk. Taken together, the method is useful for the transient high-level expression recombinant proteins, and the approach established here is probably one of the most economical and efficient ways for large-scale production of recombinant proteins of biopharmaceutical interest.

        Study on Enhancing Lightning Protection Scheme of Catenary in Subway Viaduct Section

        Viaduct increases the height of subway catenary, namely magnifies lightning attraction scope that lead to higher possibility of suffering lightning stroke. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze performance of lightning striking to catenary of subway in viaduct section and propose an improving lightning protection scheme. In this paper, using ATP-EMTP simulation software to establish an associated model to evaluate lightning withstand level of catenary with existing lightning protection schemes including arrester and grounding point, an improving lightning protection scheme is proposed — every pillar ground earth and arresters are installed with some installing spacing between 200m to 400m based on lightning damage degree and reliability requirements — according to analyzing results: while lightning withstand level is lowest for lightning striking to the neutral pillar, lightning withstand level is greatest for lightning striking to the both-ends pillar that arrester and grounding point are both installed; grounding point could obviously improve lightning withstand level for lightning striking to ground wire while arrester could obviously improve the lightning withstand level for lightning striking to catenary; every pillar ground earth could enhance the lowest lightning withstanding level up to 2.5 times than of that pillar ground earth across every 200m.
