OSCILLATION OF SECOND ORDER SUBLINEAR NEUTRAL DELAY DYNAMIC EQUATIONS VIA RICCATI TRANSFORMATION

SETHI, ABHAY KUMAR The Korean Society for Computational and Applied M 2018 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.36 No.3

In this work, we establish oscillation of the second order sublinear neutral delay dynamic equations of the form:$$(r(t)((x(t)+p(t)x({\tau}(t)))^{\Delta})^{\gamma})^{\Delta}+q(t)x^{\gamma}({\alpha}(t))+v(t)x^{\gamma}({\eta}(t))=0$$ on a time scale T by means of Riccati transformation technique, under the assumptions $${\displaystyle\smashmargin{2}{\int\nolimits^{\infty}}_{t_0}}\({\frac{1}{r(t)}}\)^{\frac{1}{\gamma}}{\Delta}t={\infty}$$, and ${\displaystyle\smashmargin{2}{\int\nolimits^{\infty}}_{t_0}}\({\frac{1}{r(t)}}\)^{\frac{1}{\gamma}}{\Delta}t$ < ${\infty}$, for various ranges of p(t), where 0 < ${\gamma}{\leq}1$ is a quotient of odd positive integers.

Analgesic efficacy of ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane block for laparoscopic gynecological surgery: a randomized controlled trial

Sethi Divya,Garg Garima 대한마취통증의학회 2022 Anesthesia and pain medicine Vol.17 No.1

Background: This study aimed to determine whether ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block is more effective in reducing postoperative pain and analgesic consumption than local anesthetic infiltration (LAI) at the port site for elective laparoscopic gynecological surgeries. Methods: Eighty patients with the American Society of Anesthesiologists status I/II undergoing laparoscopic gynecology surgery were enrolled for this randomized control trial. After general anesthesia was administered, patients in group C received LAI at each port site, and patients in group T received bilateral ultrasound-guided TAP. Postoperative pain was assessed at time intervals of 1/2, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 24 h using the numeric pain scale (NPS). Clinical metrics such as postoperative analgesic diclofenac consumption, need for rescue fentanyl, nausea-vomiting scores, and antiemetic requirements were also recorded. Results: Seventy-four patients were included in the final analysis. Postoperatively, patients in group T had significantly lower NPS than those in group C (P < 0.05). The highest difference in the postoperative NPS was observed at 2 h (median [1Q, 3Q]; group C = 3 [2, 4]; group T = 1 [0, 2]; P < 0.001). A statistically significant difference was observed in the frequency of diclofenac (75 mg intravenous) requirement between the groups (P = 0.010). No significant difference was observed between the groups in need of rescue fentanyl or antiemetic and the nausea-vomiting scores. Conclusions: In patients undergoing laparoscopic gynecological surgery, ultrasound-guided TAP block provided greater postoperative analgesic benefits in terms of lower NPS and reduced analgesic requirements than port site LAI.

Cloning, Characterization of Pichia etchellsii $\beta-Glucosidase$ II and Effect of Media Composition and Feeding Strategy on its Production in a Bioreactor

        Sethi Benu,Jain Monika,Chowdhary Manish,Soni Yogesh,Bhatia Yukti,Sahai Vikram,Mishra Saroj The Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengine 2002 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.7 No.1

The cloning and expression of $\beta-glucosidase$ II, encoded by the gene ${\beta}glu2$, from thermotolerant yeast Pichia etchellsii into Escherichia coli is described. Cloning of the 7.3 kb BamHI/SalI yeast insert containing ${\beta}glu2$ in pUC18, which allowed for reverse orientation of the insert, resulted in better enzyme expression. Transformation of this plasmid into E. coli JM109 resulted in accumulation of the enzyme in periplasmic space. At $50^{\circ}C$, the highest hydrolytic activity of 1686 IU/g protein was obtained on sophorose. Batch and fed-batch techniques were employed for enzyme production in a 14 L bioreactor. Exponential feeding rates were determined from mass balance equations and these were employed to control specific growth rate and in turn maximize cell growth and enzyme production. Media optimization coupled with this strategy resulted in increased enzyme units of 1.2 kU/L at a stabilized growth rate of $0.14\;h^{-l}$. Increased enzyme production in bioreactor was accompanied by formation of inclusion bodies.

      • Is Anterior-Only Fixation Adequate for Three-Column Injuries of the Cervical Spine?

        Sethy Siddharth Sekhar,Ahuja Kaustubh,Ifthekar Syed,Sarkar Bhaskar,Kandwal Pankaj 대한척추외과학회 2021 Asian Spine Journal Vol.15 No.1

Study Design: Retrospective case series.Purpose: To analyze the clinical and functional outcomes of patients who have undergone anterior cervical discectomy/corpectomy and fusion (ACDF/ACCF) for a three-column cervical spine injury (CSI).Overview of Literature: The treatment of choice for a three-column CSI is an area of contention; however, combined anterior and posterior fixation is the preferred method explored in the literature. Studies have shown the superior biomechanical stability of posterior fixation over that of anterior fixation, but anterior-only approach in CSI has been proving its efficacy in recent times by providing reasonable stability with the maximum achievable decompression and fusion. Methods: Twenty-one patients undergoing ACDF/ACCF with a bone graft/metallic cage treatment for cervical injuries involving all three columns from January 2016 to July 2018 were included in the study. All of the patients were followed up monthly for the first 3 months and then every 6 months, until their last follow-up visit. Results: Nineteen patients had AO type C injuries and were managed with ACDF, and two patients with AO type B injuries were managed with ACCF. Fifteen had a complete spinal cord injury, while six had an incomplete spinal cord injury (American Spinal Injury Association B, C, and D). The mean segmental kyphosis at presentation of 12.2°±4.4° improved in the postoperative period to -7.2°±2.5°. At their final follow-up, all the patients showed clinical improvements when assessed by the Visual Analog Scale (6.8–1.8), Oswestry Disability Index score (59.7–34.9), and Spinal Cord Independence Measure score (24.8–36.4). One patient in the ACDF group needed a secondary posterior fixation because of instability. Conclusions: An anterior approach to the cervical spine in cervical fracture dislocations is an effective treatment showing an optimal recovery rate in terms of patient-reported outcomes and structural stability, with the added advantages of less blood loss and the fact that the technique requires less instrumentation.

      • Structure and Thermodynamics of Hybrid Organic-Inorganic Diblock Copolymers with Salt

        Sethi, Gurmukh K.,Jung, Ha Young,Loo, Whitney S.,Sawhney, Simar,Park, Moon Jeong,Balsara, Nitash P.,Villaluenga, Irune American Chemical Society 2019 Macromolecules Vol.52 No.9

<P>We examine the phase behavior of a hybrid organic-inorganic diblock copolymer/salt mixtures. The experimental system comprises poly(ethylene oxide)-<I>block</I>-polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (PEO-POSS) mixed with a lithium bis(trifluoromethane sulfonyl) imide (LiTFSI) salt. Although the diblock copolymers without salt exhibit a classical order-to-disorder transition behavior with increasing temperature, the PEO-POSS/salt mixtures exhibit disorder-to-order transitions with increasing temperature. The analysis of a small-angle X-ray scattering data from the disordered state using Leibler’s random phase approximation enables the determination of an effective Flory-Huggins interaction parameter, χeff, for the electrolytes. Unlike conventional systems, χeff increases with increasing temperature. A simple expression is proposed to describe the dependence of χeff on temperature and salt concentration. This enables the calculation of the segregation strength, χeff<I>N</I>, for both ordered and disordered electrolytes. The composition of the electrolytes is quantified by <I>f</I>EO/LiTFSI, the volume fraction of the salt-containing poly(ethylene oxide)-rich phase. The morphology of electrolytes is presented on a χeff<I>N</I> versus <I>f</I>EO/LiTFSI phase diagram. Over the values of <I>f</I>EO/LiTFSI studied (0.61-0.91), only two ordered phases were found: lamellae and co-existing lamellae/hexagonally packed cylinders.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

Thermo-expandable prostatic stents for bladder outlet obstruction in the frail and elderly population: An underutilized procedure?

        Kapil Sethi,Michael Bozin,Tebogo Jabane,Richard McMullin,David Cook,Rob Forsyth,Lachlan Dodds,Lydia Johns Putra 대한비뇨의학회 2017 Investigative and Clinical Urology Vol.58 No.6

Purpose: To report our outcomes with the use of a thermo-expandable metallic intraprostatic stent (Memokath) for patients with bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) secondary to prostatic obstruction, and to assess it is a feasible option for many frail and elderly men unsuitable for surgery. Materials and Methods: We reviewed patients who underwent insertion of a Memokath stent for BOO over 17 years (January 1999 to December 2015) at one regional center over a long follow-up period (median, 7 years). Patients were selected if they had obstructive urinary symptoms or urinary retention with an indwelling catheter in situ, and were ineligible for transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) under general or spinal anesthesia. Primary outcomes assessed were the improvement in urinary symptoms and voiding parameters, as well as the ability to void spontaneously if catheterized, along with complications. Results: One hundred forty-four patients who presented with BOO or urinary retention had a Memokath stent inserted. Ninety patients (62.5%) had a successful stent insertion with a significant difference between the median preoperative (550 mL) and postoperative residual volume (80 mL, p<0.0001). Nearly two-thirds of men (64%) returned to unassisted voiding with no increased risk of complications over time. Fifty-four patients (37.5%) experienced stent failure. Main complications requiring stent removal or repositioning were migration, occlusion, refractory urinary retention and irritative voiding symptoms. Conclusions: In elderly and frail men with BOO deemed unsuitable to undergo TURP, prostatic stent is a safe and practical alternative to long-term catheterization.

      • Query Recommendation Based on User Browsing History

Shilpa Sethi,Ashutosh Dixit 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.9 No.6

The most commercial search engines return the search list by matching the user query terms with the documents available in its database. The relative effectiveness of search list is highly affected by the extent to which the query keywords map to the actual need of user. User generally forms the short, ambiguous and instant queries which lead to inclusion of irrelevant documents in the search list. One well known solution to this problem is query suggestion also known as query recommendation. For query recommendations, the search systems maintain the query logs at server sites to better understand user’s information need. But till now, the current search systems have partially solved this problem as they roughly offer the similar queries to all the users regardless of their actual interests. In this paper, A novel query recommendation technique based on user browsing patterns is proposed where user interest factor in different domains are computed and used to recommend personalised queries to each individual. The experimental evaluation shows that system is able to assist user in query formation phase and efficiently reduces the search space and time required to get the desired information.

Financial development, financial sector policies and growth: evidence from India

( Pradeepta Sethi ) 한양대학교 경제연구소 2017 JOURNAL OF ECONOMIC RESEARCH Vol.22 No.2

This paper examines the dynamic relationship between financial development and economic growth in India. Using annual data from 1980 to 2014, we find evidence of a long-run relationship be-tween financial development and economic growth. Financial sec-tor policies embraced by the Government of India have enlarged the financial system, however we could not find substantial effect of these policies on the long-run growth process. Our causality test results show that the economic growth process exerts a uni-direc-tional causal effect on the development of the financial system in India supporting the demand-following hypothesis.
