Staphylococcus aureus와 Coagulase-Negative Staphylococcus Species에 대한 Arbekacin의 시험관내 항균력

Background : Most strains of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) now exhibit high-level resistance to various antibiotics, such as β -lactam antibiotics, aminoglycosides, macrolides, tetracyclines and quinolones. Recent reports describing the therapeutic failure of vancomycin for MRSA infections have arisen considerable concerns regarding the emergence of MRSA strains, which will require new therapeutic agents. Arbekacin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, has antibacterial activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and is stable in the presence of aminoglycoside inactivating enzymes produced by S. aureus. In this study, we compared the antibacterial activity of arbekacin with those of vancomycin, gentamicin, and amikacin against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS). Methods : For a collection of 549 S. aureus and 251 CNS isolates from three Catholic University Hospitals in Korea, minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of arbekacin, vancomycin, amikacin and gentamicin were determined by agar dilution method using Mueller-Hinton agar according to NCCLS (National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards, USA)criteria. Results : Among 549 S. aureus isolates, 278 isolates were MRSA and 271 isolates were methicil sensitive S. aureus (MSSA). MIC50 & MIC90 of arbekacin against 549 S. aureus were 0.5 & 1 ㎍/mL, and MIC50 & MIC90 of vancomycin were 1 & 1 ㎍/mL. MIC of arbekacin against 549 S. aureus isolates ranges from 0.03 to 4 ㎍/mL, and MIC of vancomycin against 549 S. aureus ranges from 0.25 to 2 ㎍/mL. MIC90 of amikacin against 549 S. aureus was 32㎍/mL, and that of gentamicin was 128 ㎍/mL. MICs of amikacin and gentamicin were variable, ranging from 0.125 to 256, and otherwise arbekacin and vancomycin revealed relatively narrow range of MICs. MIC90 of arbekacin against 278 MRSA isolates & 271 MSSA were 1 & 0.5 ㎍/mL, and those of vancomycin against MRSA & MSSA were 1 & 1 ㎍/mL. MIC90 of amikacin against 278 MRSA & 271 MSSA isolates were 32 & 4 ㎍/mL, and that of gentamicin against MRSA & MSSA isolates were 128 & 32 ㎍/mL respectively. Among 251 CNS isolates, 122 isolates were MRCNS and 129 were MSCNS. MICSO & MIC90 of arbekacin against 251 CNS isolates were 0.25 & 2 ㎍/mL, and those of vancomycin were 1 & 2 ㎍/mL. MIC of arbekacin against 251 CNS isolates ranges from 0.015 to 32 ㎍/mL, and that of vancomycin isolates ranges from 0.25 to 2 ㎍/mL, MIC90 of arbekacin against 122 MRCNS & 129 MSCNS isolates were 2&0.3 ㎍/ML, and those of vancomycin were 2&s ㎍/ML. MIC90 of amikacin against 251 CNS isolates was 32 ㎍/ML, and that of gentamicin was 128 ㎍/ML for CNS. MIC90 of amikacin against 122 MRCNS & 129 MSCNS isolates were 128 & 8㎍/mL, and those of gentamicin ere 256 & 32 ㎍/mL. Conclusion : Considering above results, arbekacin can be useful agent against most strains of MRSA and MRCMS, which exhibit high-level resistance to amikacin and gentamicin. 오대산 월정사지역 전나무림의 생태학적 연구

본 연구는 오대산 국립공원내 월정사지역에 분포하고 있는 전나무림의 식생구조를 분석하여 이 지역 전나무림의 관리에 대한 기초자료를 제공하기 위하여 수행되었다. 그 결과 전나무림의 층위구조는 교목층(2종류), 아교목층(20종류), 관목층(46종류) 그리고 초본층(87종류)으로 구성되어 있었다. 조사지역에 출현한 전체식물의 중요치는 전나무가 34.09%로 가장 높게 나타났고, 당단풍(23.07%), 청시닥나무(14.44%), 고광나무(10.72%), 오리방풀(8.49%), 복자기(7.80%), 고추나무(7.65%), 산거울(6.79%), 방아풀(5.76%), 고로쇠나무(5.47%), 개다래(5.41%)의 순으로 나타났다. 특히, 전나무의 치수가 전혀 없어 앞으로 아교목층과 관목층을 형성하고 있는 단풍나무류, 참나무류, 피나무류 등의 경쟁에 의하여 천이가 있을 것으로 사료된다. The vegetation structure of Abies holophylla forest was analyzed to provide the information for conservation of Abies holophylla at Wol-jong Temple in Mt. Odae national park, southern Korea. The layer structure of Abiesholophylla forest was consists of tree layer(2 species), subtree layer(20 species), shrub layer(46 species) and herb layer(87 species). The importance value of Abies holophylla was the highest one 34.09% , and those of Acer pseudo-siebodianum, Acer barbinerve, Philadelphus schrenckii, Isodon excisus, Acer triflorum, Staphylea bumalda, Carex humilis, Isodon japonicus, Acer monp and Actinidia polygama were 23.07%, 14.44%, 10.72%, 8.49%, 7.80%, 7.65%, 6.79%, 5.76%, 5.47% and 5.41%, respectivery. Especially, when predicting succession in Abies holophylla forest, such seedlings were not formed and succession was governed by competition of Acer species, Quercus species and Tilia species of subtree and shrub layer. 개에 있어서 심장사상충증을 동반한 창상성 횡격막 허니아의 수술적 치료 1례

A 7-month old. castrated male Shih-tzu dog was referred to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University with history of depression. dyspnea. mild scale. tachypnea. exercise intolerance and severe leanness. On physical examination. cardiac arrhythmias was heard and heart worm ELISA test was positive. Microfilaria was found on the direct blood smear. Survey radiographs showed loss of diaphragmatic line and cardiac silhouette. displacement of lung fields and presence of gas filled intestines in the thoracic cavity. Rib fracture and pelvic fracture with callus formation were found incidentally. On the basis of physical examination and radiographic findings. it was diagnosed as traumatic diaphragmatic hernia and heart worm disease. Herniorrhaphy was performed. Postoperatively. it was treated for heart worm disease and scale. There is no evidence of recurrence of diaphragmatic hernia and heart worm disease over 1 year.

We have encountered a rare case of symmetrical peripheral gangrene complicating Escherichia coli sepsis in a 47-years-old male. He was successfully treated with antibiotics, anticoagulants, and vasodilator. To our knowledge, this is the first report on symmetrical peripheral gangrene complicating E. coli sepsis in Korea.

리튬이차전지용 부극재료로서 은분말에 대한 전기화학적 특성

Silver powders have been extensively studied as an anode active material for lithium secondary batteries. In the present study, a unique attempt is made to develop silver negative electrode by slurry method, because the silver electrode is a good candidate to replace the commercial graphite electrode for lithium rechargeable batteries. Silver electrode was prepared and its electrochemical properties were characterized gradual increasing test state of charge (GISOC) analysis method. Charge-discharge performance indicates that the initial charge potential range of Li/Ag cells has showed similar behaviors compared with Li/Graphite system and the irreversible capacity facd is also higher than Li/Graphite system.

교육방송 프로그램이 고등학생들의 학력신장에 미치는 효과

이 연구는 고등학교 1학년 학생들이 교육방송에 의한 학습을 장기간 지속적으로 시청했을 때 학력에 미치는 효과를 검정하고 현행교육방송의 실태와 개선점을 알아보고자 한다. 대구광역시 내 동일학군에 소재한 일반계 고등학교 중에서 교육방송에 의한 학습을 한 실험집단(A고교)과 교육방송을 하지 않고 자율학습을 한 비교집단(B고교)간의 성취도를 비교하였다. 4월부터 교육방송 수업을 시작한 후 5월 과 11월에 시행된 두 차례의 전국연합학력 평가에서 「수리탐구 I 영역」의 성적을 비교하였다. 그 결과 두 집단간 평균점수 차이가 유의미하다고 나타났다. 그리고 두 집단의 최하위 성적 급간(하위 10% 이내)을 제외한 모든 급간에서 실험집단이 비교집단 보다 성적이 많이 향상되었다고 나타났다. 실험집단을 대상으로 현행 교육방송 프로그램에 대한 의견 조사 결과,개선할 점으로 프로그램 내용의 수준별 편성,보다 다양한 자료의 활용,강의 진행 속도의 조절,그리고 지도방법의 개선 등을 들고 있다. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of EBS programs on the Scholasstic Achievement of high school students and make suggestions for facilitating EBS programs in high school. The academic performance of two group of different school students in Daegu was compared; One is experimental group(A school) and the other is comparative group(B school). The experimental group(A) studied through EBS programs for average 21 hours a week, while the comparative group(B) were not given any chance to take advantage of the EBS programs at all. The comparison between the two results of May and November trial exams indicated that in the case of the upper level students belonging to top 10%, the mean scores of the experimental group has increased more remarkably than that of the comparative group.

일본에 있어서 해상양식용 부침식 구조물의 개발시험

Submersible platform artificial sea floor, which can be deployed up to a depth of one hundred meters. was developed and placed at a depth of forty meters in the water of Funagoshi Bay in Iwate Prefecture in February 1996. The facility aims to use broad underwater space for mariculture and as an experimental marine station for oceanographic and biological monitoring study. The facility consists of an artificial sea floor(36x20m) that floats at 7m below the surface. a machinery hut that projects above the surface of the center of the structure and a balance weight beneath the structure. The facility was designed so it does not need periodical inspection and repair in main components for five years. The design was condition was 10m in significant wave. Measurement of movement and load to the mooring chain under rough sea conditions were examined using monitoring instruments. The facility can be operated easily and safely by fishers and there was no fundamental problem which needed further improvement. Cultivation of abalone in a rough sea area was prover to be possible. The artificial sea floor is expected to be one of the prospective technologies for utilizing vast coastal sea areas.

This study is concerned with the Failure Mode Effect Analysis(FMEA) for small and medium industries. The purpose of this study is to develop a FMEA module to apply to other quality management systems. It includes a fail mode data base, a design FMEA sub-module, a process FMEA sub-module, a Risk Priority Number(RPN) evaluation sub-module, and a FMEA chart. Appling this module, it is expected higher productivity and reliability in the manufacturing industry.

웹카메라를 이용한 천체사진촬영에 관한 연구

Recently, CCD cameras has been widely adoped for astronomical photography. CCD is more sensitive than photographic film and has the advantage of e,ISY digital image processing. In this paper, we have used a PC web camera instead of expensive commercial astronomical CCD camera for astrophotography. The images of the bright objects such as Moon, Sun, and Jupiter have been easily obtained by an ordinary web camera. A Vesta Pro web camera have been modified by Steve Chamber method for long exposed astrophotography. The thermal noise of the CCD has been dramatically decreased by cooling the CCD with a Peltier device. The initial images of the globular clusters M3 and M13 have been obtained with the modified Vesta Pro~SC web camera. We could obtain the bright pictures correspond to the long exposed photography by digitally adding the several short exposed frames. The noise of the long exposed frames were greatly reduced compared to the short exposed frames. In conclusion, we have shown that the web camera can be used for astrophography very economically in middle schools and high schools which have telescopes with limited tracking ability.

충남대학교 부속동물병원에 의뢰된 개의 뇨결석 성분 분석 결과

A retrospective analysis was performed with 14 cases of canine urolithiasis examined at Laboratory of Clinical Pathology, College of Veterinary Medicine, Chungnam National University in the period between January 2005 and November 2005. The female (8 cases) had most occurrence about 14 cases. The Shih-tzu (8 cases), Poodle (4 cases) had higher incidences than other breeds. Canine urolithiasis occurred from 1 year 3 months to 7 years 6 months, but the most prevalence age was 3 years. The major mineral component of calculi was calcium oxalate (64.28%) and struvite(21.44%).
