As a basic study to ponder linguistic negotiation with Japanese in a process to establish and systematize modern Korean grammar, this thesis examines development of advent, use, and concept of a term ‘grammar’ targeting books related to modern grammar published in Japan. About the effect of Japanese grammar on the process to establish and systematize modern Korean grammar, various tries through Korean grammar book and study material written by Maema Kysaku, Takahashi Tohoru, Yakushiji Jiro reflecting ‘Compromise Grammar’ of Otsuki Fumihiko and ‘Yamada Grammar’ of Yamada Yoshio after Hoseko Sigekatsu and Shimai Hiroshi who are early influenced by Western grammar from late in the 18th century to the early 20th century penetrating the time of enlightenment are seen here and there. This thesis introduces Japanese materials of ‘A Study Database of Modern Korean Grammar Formation History’ as an extension line of Oi Hideaki and Seo Sangkyu(2015). Based on this, the researcher adds materials that are additionally investigated and analyzed after Oi Hideaki and Seo Sangkyu(2015), so collects ‘grammar’ in Japanese and terms related to this grammar, so looks back use and concept of the term ‘grammar’ of use aspect and concept.
What Explains the Idiosyncratic Volatility in the Korean Stock Market?
Sangkyu Lee,Anna Moon 한국재무학회 2013 한국재무학회 학술대회 Vol.2013 No.05
Using the Fama and French (1993) three-factor model, this paper provides an explanation for the variation of idiosyncratic return in the Korean stock market over the period of 1990-2012. There had been an upward trend until 1999 in idiosyncratic volatility and its trend has been reversed afterwards. Our analysis yields three main results. Firstly, it appears that all four explanatory variables, two fundamentals related variables of the variance of return on equity and a proxy of growth options and two trading volume related variables of trading volume and foreign ownership ratio, explain considerable proportion of idiosyncratic return variation. Most interestingly, foreign investors have stabilizing effect on firm-specific risk in the Korean stock market. Secondly, a firm’s characteristics such as size and export orientation exert some influence on idiosyncratic volatility. Lastly, the absolute and relative explanatory powers of the four explanatory variables vary through time and diminish as the sample period ends, implying the need to search for further explanatory variables.

We consider power consumption of a PTT service in IEEE 802.16e with sleep mode and idle mode. Sleep mode and idle mode operations in the IEEE 802.16e standard provide with power saving mechanisms for the mobile station. A mobile station with PTT session is modelled as a semi-Markov chain. We obtain power consumption ratio and increased setup time. Using our mathematical model, we can find the optimal system parameters such as the sleep window and close-down time which minimize the power consumption of the mobile station while satisfying the required QoS on increased setup delay. The numerical examples show that the sleep mode and idle mode provide a considerable reduction on energy of mobile station.
PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF POWER SAVE MODE IN IEEE 802.11 INFRASTRUCTURE WLAN
Sangkyu Baek,Bong Dae-Choi 한국산업응용수학회 2007 한국산업응용수학회 학술대회 논문집 Vol.3 No.2
We investigate power consumption of a station with power save mode in IEEE 802.11 infrastructure wireless local area network. Our method for investigating the power save mode is to construct a Markov chain. To see the effect of the power save mode, we obtain the mean queueing delay and the power consumption ratio. Numerical results show that there is a trade off between queueing delay and power consumption ratio. Using our performance analysis, we can find the optimal listen interval which minimize the power consumption of a wireless station while satisfying the required quality of service (QoS) on delay.
A NEW POWER SAVING MECHANISM IN IEEE 802.L6E
Sangkyu Baek,Kyung Jae Kim,Jung Je Son,Bong Dae Choi 한국산업응용수학회 2008 한국산업응용수학회 학술대회 논문집 Vol.4 No.3
We propose an efficient power saving class in IEEE 802.16e. The proposed scheme saves the bandwidth and power consumption by skipping sleep mode request message and sleep mode response message required in power saving class of type 1. We model the proposed scheme by a Markov chain of M/G/1 type. We derive the average packet delay and the power consumption of a mobile station under the proposed scheme. Numerical results show that our analytic results match quite well with simulation results. Using our performance analysis, we find the optimal parameters such as neutral interval and sleep interval which minimize the power consumption of a mobile station while satisfying the required quality of service (QoS) on the average packet delay. The analysis shows that performance of our scheme is better than that of power saving class of type 1 in IEEE 802.l6e standard.

1. The pharmacological activity of luotonin A varies, depending on the type of functional group and the site of derivatization. To understand the in vivo efficacy of luotonin A, the in vitro metabolism of luotoninA was investigated in human liver microsomes and recombinant cDNA-expressed cytochromeP450 (CYP). 2. Incubation of luotonin A with pooled human liver microsomes in the presence of NADPH-generating system resulted in the formation of four metabolites and the structures of each metabolite were tentatively characterized on the basis of electrospray tandem mass spectra. 3. The main metabolic pathway of luotonin A in human liver microsomes was hydroxylation, resulting in the generation of two mono-hydroxyl metabolites (M1 and M2) and two di-hydroxyl metabolites (M3 and M4). CYP1A2 was primarily involved in hydroxylation of the quinolone moiety (M1 and M3), while CYP3A4 was mainly responsible for hydroxylation of the quinazoline moiety of luotonin A (M2 and M4) in human liver microsomes.

Heat shock protein (HSP) 90 is expressed in most living organisms, and several client proteins of HSP90 are necessary for cancer cell survival and growth. Previously, we found that HSP90 was cleaved by histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors and proteasome inhibitors, and the cleavage of HSP90 contributes to their cytotoxicity in K562 leukemia cells. In this study, we first established mouse xenograft models with K562 cells expressing the wild-type or cleavage-resistant mutant HSP90β and found that the suppression of tumor growth by the HDAC inhibitor suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid (SAHA) was interrupted by the mutation inhibiting the HSP90 cleavage in vivo. Next, we investigated the possible function of thioredoxin interacting protein (TXNIP) in the HSP90 cleavage induced by SAHA. TXNIP is a negative regulator for thioredoxin, an antioxidant protein. SAHA transcriptionally induced the expression of TXNIP in K562 cells. HSP90 cleavage was induced by SAHA also in the thymocytes of normal mice and suppressed by an anti-oxidant and pan-caspase inhibitor. When the thymocytes from the TXNIP knockout mice and their wild-type littermate control mice were treated with SAHA, the HSP90 cleavage was detected in the thymocytes of the littermate controls but suppressed in those of the TXNIP knockout mice suggesting the requirement of TXNIP for HSP90 cleavage. We additionally found that HSP90 cleavage was induced by actinomycin D, β-mercaptoethanol, and p38 MAPK inhibitor PD169316 suggesting its prevalence. Taken together, we suggest that HSP90 cleavage occurs also in vivo and contributes to the anti-cancer activity of various drugs in a TXNIP-dependent manner.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection leads to various clinical symptoms including anemia. Lipocalin-2 has various biological functions, including defense against bacterial infections through iron sequestration, and it serves as a biomarker for kidney injury. In a human protein array, we observed increased lipocalin-2 expression due to parental SARS-CoV-2 infection in the Calu-3 human lung cancer cell line. The secretion of lipocalin-2 was also elevated in response to parental SARS-CoV-2 infection, and the SARS-CoV-2 Alpha, Beta, and Delta variants similarly induced this phenomenon. In a Calu-3 implanted mouse xenograft model, parental SARSCoV- 2 and Delta variant induced lipocalin-2 expression and secretion. Additionally, the iron concentration increased in the Calu-3 tumor tissues and decreased in the serum due to infection. In conclusion, SARS-CoV-2 infection induces the production and secretion of lipocalin-2, potentially resulting in a decrease in iron concentration in serum. Because the concentration of iron ions in the blood is associated with anemia, this phenomenon could contribute to developing anemia in COVID-19 patients. [BMB Reports 2023; 56(12): 669-674]
