Objectives : Nowadays many studies with MRI have reported structurai abnormalltles of corpus callosum of schizophrenic patients. However, the results are various and inconstant. In this study, we attempted to identify structural change of C O ~ U S cailosurn. Method : We measured the size of corpus callosum of the 24 schizophrenia patients (male 11, female 18) who were diagnosed by DSM-IV (19943, visited at department of psychiatry, catholic university hospital of Daegu from January 2002 to December 2003, by using midline sagittal slice of MRI. These results were compared with the size of corpus callosum of 25 controls (male 7, female 78). We divided corpus callosurn into 7 areas. We calculated and compared the areas of each subregion, mid-sagittal cerebral area, and entire corpus callosum. The results were analyzed by independent t-test. Result :When we compared subregion to corpus callosum adjusted wth mid-sagittal cerebral area, schlzoph-renia patients had significantly smaller genu (1.64k0.32 vs. 1.43k0.26 p<O.O5) and splenium (2.16f0.27 VS. 1.96+0.30 ; ~(0.05). Similarly, the ratio of total corpus callosum to midline sagittal cerebral area (%)(7.50*0.72 vs. 6.90t0.82 ~(0.05) was significantly smaller In schizophrenia than control group. Conclusion : In this study, we found significant differences in corpus callosum between schizophrenic patients and normal control group.

In this paper, we analyzed system performance parameters of analog optical transmission link for WLL and fabricated the optical transmitter and receiver satisfying system requirements. Transmitter consists of LD driver, ATC, and APC circuit, and receiver includes photodetector and amplifier circuit. Center frequency of RF carrier is set to 2.0 GHz for various applications such as WLL, PCS, etc. Return loss is measured for impedance matching and system performance of transmitter and RF output power is compared with RF input power to measure the total optical link loss. Amplifiers are used for loss compensation. From the measured system performance data, -14 dB return loss and 40 dB CNR is achieved.

Automatic fatigue crack length measuring system using DC electrical potential method and the system control program for automatic fatigue testing under random load condition were made in this study. And using these system and control program, fatigue tests were executed under constant and random load condition. As the result, the propagation of crack in random loading can be represented Paris equation and log normal probability function. But, constant and random load test show different crack propagation properties.

The purpose of this paper is to develop a method of Collision-Free Path Planning (CFPP) for an articulated robot. First, the configuration of the root is formed by a set of robot joint angles derived from robot inverse kinematics. The joint space, that is made of the joint angle set, forms a Configuration space (Cspace). Obstacles in the robot workcell are also transformed and mapped into the Cspace, which makes Cobstacles in the Cspace. (The Cobstacles represented in the Cspace is actually the configurations of the robot causing collision.) Secondly, a connected graph, a kind of roadmap, is constructed from the free configurations in the 3 dimensional Cspace, where the configurations are randomly sampled from the free Cspace. Thirdly, robot paths are optimally in order to minimize of the sum of joint angle movements. A path searching algorithm based on A is employed in determining the paths. Finally, the whole procedures for the CFPP method are illustrated with a 3 axis articulated robot. The main characteristics of the method are; 1) it deals with CFPP for an articulated robot in a 3-dimensional workcell, 2) it guarantees finding a collision free path, if such a path exists, 3) it provides distance optimization in terms of joint angle movements. The whole procedures are implemented by C on an IBM compatible 486 PC. GL (Graphic Library) on an IRIS CAD workstation is utilized to produce fine graphic outputs.

It is to present basic information on herb utilization in the future by understanding the preference factors of pot aromatic herbs through measuring analysis approach. To find out preference factors of pot aromatic herbs, we have selected 14 commonly favored herbs based on sales volume of major domestic pot-herb dealers through interviewing. At first we have studied the perceptive characteristics of herbs such as aroma, form, color and texture. And then, we have executed Duncan test by One-way ANOVA, factor analysis, meaningful difference verification between factors, and comparative analysis between averages. We have also studied on influence of correlation between the deference according to perceptive characteristics and the comprehensive preference. To understand the factorsin detail, we have executed Multiple Regression Analysis on correlations between the characteristics and the preference. Followings are the conclusions we have got from the study. 1. According to the results of Factor Analysis, there are three factors that can be perceived from the herbs. Those three factors can explain 61.70% of perceptive characteristics. It can be represented groups of factors such as Aromatic characteristics, Repose characteristics and Appreciation of beauty. Among them, from psychological factors, aroma related variable explains the best, beauty appreciation characteristics related variable the least. 2. According to the results of correlation analysis between comprehensive preference level and the specific preference level according to each perceptive characteristics, there are big differences between preference level by aroma and that by beauty and shows the highest correlation to the comprehensive preference of pot herbs. To see how much influence the beauty of herb makes on the comprehensive preference, we have executed the Regression Analysis. From the test, we knew that color was the most influential factor from the beauty characteristics. 3. To understand the factors shown in preference analysis in detail, we have executed the Multiple Regression Analysis on the correlation between perceptive characteristics and comprehensive preference. From the test, we concluded that pot aromatic herbs preference is decided by its fragrance, beauty of color and pleasant and happy smell it has.

In this paper, image-processing method has been studied to improve the resolution of the solid-interior image by the Wiener Filtering. Although ultrasonic imaging systems are an effective and powerful tools for nondestructive testing, the c-scan image techniques are limited by blurring and distortions introduced by the resolution limits of the systems. Wiener filter technique has been discussed in this paper to enhance c-scan image in two-dimensional applications. Experimental results of coin samples have shown better ultrasonic images than images without Wiener filter processing.

Although ganglion cysts are common, they rarely involve peripheral nerves. A case of intraneural ganglion of the peroneal nerve in a 40 years old woman was reported. The cystic ganglion was located at the region of the bifurcation of the peroneal nerve without communication of any joint or bursa, and was excised totally.

In order to improve the qualities of boiling extract the availability of standard compounds was investigated in extract of Scutellariae Radix. The standard compounds used baicalin(1), baicalein(2), and wogonin(3). The availabilities were analyzed by thin layer chromatography(TLC) and high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) on C18 column. The extract of RS-4(W/V=10g/100ml) showed the highest availabilities as 7.95% of baicalin(1), 1.04% of baicalein(2), and 0.31% of wogonin(3).
