Crossing octahedron sets and their applications to Q-algebras

        Samy M. Mostafa,S. H. Han,Ehab F. Adb-elfattah,Mostafa A. Hassan,허걸,백종일 원광대학교 기초자연과학연구소 2022 ANNALS OF FUZZY MATHEMATICS AND INFORMATICS Vol.23 No.2

A crossing octahedron set is composed of three components : interval-valued fuzzy set, intuitionistic fuzzy set and negative-valued function. In this paper, we first introduce the concept of crossing octahedron set and investigate its properties. Further, we define a crossing octahedron Q-ideal, Q-subalgebra and BCK-ideal of a Q-algebra, and we deal with their relationships. In addition, the homomorphic images and pre-images of a crossing octahedron Q-ideal are also studied. Related properties of crossing octahedron Q-ideals are explored and discussed. Finally, the Cartesian product of two crossing octahedron Q-ideals is investigated.

Mass production of CNTs using CVD multi-quartz tubes

Samy Yousef,Alaa Mohamed 대한기계학회 2016 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.30 No.11

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have become the backbone of modern industries, including lightweight and heavy-duty industrial applications. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is considered as the most common method used to synthesize high yield CNTs. This work aims to develop the traditional CVD for the mass production of more economical CNTs, meeting the growing CNT demands among consumers by increasing the number of three particular reactors. All reactors housing is connected by small channels to provide the heat exchange possibility between the chambers, thereby decreasing synthesis time and reducing heat losses inside the ceramic body of the furnace. The novel design is simple and cheap with a lower reacting time and heat loss compared with the traditional CVD design. Methane, hydrogen, argon, and catalyzed iron nanoparticles were used as a carbon source and catalyst during the synthesis process. In addition, CNTs were produced using only a single quartz tube for comparison. The produced samples were examined using XRD, TEM, SEM, FTIR, and TGA. The results showed that the yield of CNTs increases by 287 % compared with those synthesized with a single quartz tube. Moreover, the total synthesis time of CNTs decreases by 37 % because of decreased heat leakage.

Real-Time Monitoring System to Manage Mental Healthcare Emergency Unit

        Samy Housbane,Adil Khoubila,Khaoula Ajbal,Mohamed Agoub,Omar Battas,Mohamed Bennani Othmani 대한의료정보학회 2020 Healthcare Informatics Research Vol.26 No.4

Objectives: Real-time relevant information helps guide the healthcare decision-making process in daily clinical practice aswell as the management and optimization of healthcare processes. However, proprietary business intelligence suite solutionssupporting the production of decision-making information requires investment that is out of reach of small and mediumsizedhealthcare facilities or those with limited resources, particularly in developing countries. This paper describes our experiencein designing and implementing a real-time healthcare monitoring system solution to manage healthcare emergencyunits. Methods: Through the use of free Business Intelligence tools and Python data science language we designed a realtimemonitoring system, which was implemented to explore the Electronic Medical Records system of a university mentalhealth emergency unit and render an electronic dashboard to support health professional daily practice. Results: Three maindashboards were created to monitor patient waiting time, to access the clinical notes summary for the next waiting patient, and to obtain insights into activity during the last 24 hours. Conclusions: The designed system could serve as a monitoringsupport model using free and user-friendly data science tools, which are good alternatives to proprietary business intelligencesolutions and drastically reduce cost. Still, the key to success in decision-making systems is based on investment in humanresources, business intelligence skills training, the organizational aspect of the decision-making process, and data productionquality insurance.

Monitoring for Mutual Effects of Switching Power Capacitors in Power Systems

        Samy M. Ghania,Ayman S. Elwer,Reda Morsi,M. M. A. Salama 전력전자학회 2008 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.8 No.4

Power system perturbations are due to many reasons; one of the most common perturbation causes is switching off/on the power capacitors. This paper monitors and discusses the overvoltages which appear on local and remote capacitor connected buses in power systems. Using the Fast Fourier Transfer (FFT), the total harmonic content of voltages and currents waveforms is also estimated at all buses. The power factor during different cases of switching modes “off/on” is monitored. The monitoring technique tackles not only the longitudinal long distance mutual effects of switching power capacitors between different buses but also evaluates the overvoltage durations. A relative long term monitoring is implemented using the Matlab/Simulink environment to show severity assessments in different switching modes on the transformers’ voltages and currents’ waveforms.

The influence of the Gemini surfactants hydrocarbon tail on in-situ synthesis of silver nanoparticles: Characterization, surface studies and biological performance

        Samy M. Shaban,김동환 한국화학공학회 2020 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.37 No.6

Three different Gemini compounds containing different lengths of multi-carbonyl groups were synthesized, and the effect of their hydrocarbon tail length on the AgNPs synthesis was investigated. The Gemini surfactants with the long hydrocarbon chain tail produces small AgNPs with a narrow size distribution and high colloidal stability in an aqueous phase. The surface parameters of the aqueous solution were affected by the hydrocarbon chain length as well as phase temperature. The critical micelle concentration, assessed by surface tension and conductometric measurements, decreases with both increasing solution temperature and increasing hydrocarbon tail length. Thermodynamic calculations predicted the ability of the synthesized Gemini surfactant to adsorb on the phase surface and aggregate in a cluster.

Fuzzy Hint Acquisition for the Collision Avoidance Solution of Redundant Manipulators Using Neural Network

        Samy F. M. Assal,Keigo Watanabe,Kiyotaka Izumi 대한전기학회 2006 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.4 No.1

A novel inverse kinematics solution based on the back propagation neural network (NN) for redundant manipulators is developed for online obstacles avoidance. A laser transducer at the end-effctor is used for online planning the trajectory. Since the inverse kinematics in the present problem has infinite number of joint angle vectors, a fuzzy reasoning system is designed to generate an approximate value for that vector. This vector is fed into the NN as a hint input vector rather than as a training vector to guide the output of the NN. Simulations are implemented on both three- and four-link redundant planar manipulators to show the effectiveness of the proposed position control system.

        (ᾶ, α)-crossing cubic QS-ideal of QS-algebra

Samy M. Mostafa,이정곤,전영배,허걸,Christeen Karam Sorour Ebid 원광대학교 기초자연과학연구소 2022 ANNALS OF FUZZY MATHEMATICS AND INFORMATICS Vol.24 No.1

As an extension of bipolar-valued fuzzy sets, the notion of (ᾶ, α)-crossing cubic QS-ideals of a QS-algebra is introduced, and several related properties are investigated. Characterizations of (ᾶ, α)-crossing cubic QS-ideal in QS-algebras are established. The relations between (ᾶ, α)-crossing cubic subalgebras and (ᾶ, α)-crossing cubic QS-ideals of a QS-algebras are studied. Moreover, the homomorphic image (pre-image) of (ᾶ, α)-crossing cubic QS-ideal of a QS-algebra under a homomorprhism of QS-algebras is discussed.

Performance of sponge and finger-like structures of PSF/PET membranes in hydrogen separation industry

Samy Yousef,Andrius Tonkonogovas,Alaa Mohamed 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.125 No.-

Polysulfone (PSF) is one of the most popular commercial ultrafiltration membranes recently used in thefield of high-performance gas separation. PSF membranes are distinguished by their sponge-like pore (SP)or finger-like pore (FP) structures. Also, they are usually reinforced with a porous backing layer, such asnon-woven polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fabric, to improve their tensile strength. This research aimsto study the effect of these different porous structures (SP and FP) and PET support layer on the gas permeationand selectivity characteristics of PSF membranes. The PSF/PET composite membranes were fabricatedusing a phase-inversion approach with different thicknesses of 100 lm and 200 lm to obtain SPand FP structures, respectively. The basic properties of the fabricated membranes, including morphology, coherence layers, pore structures, surface roughness, mechanical, chemical, and thermal were examined. Meanwhile, the pure gas measurements of H2, CH4, CO2, and N2 were taken using a laboratory setup atdifferent pressures and temperatures up to 5 bar and 60 C respectively. The scanning electron microscoperesults showed that the PSF solution had successfully penetrated between PET fibres closing theirvoids and formulated different thin and dense layers on their surfaces with SP and FP structures. Meanwhile, the PSF(FP)/PET membrane manifested bigger pore size (63 nm), lager porosity, higherstrength, and higher thermal stability compared to PSF(SP)/PET membrane with estimated percentageof 24, 28, 23, 16 %, respectively. The gas measurements showed that the SP structure can provide highergases permeability, as opposed to FP structure that showed better selectivity in the trend H2/CO2(3.21) > H2/N2 (3.05) > H2/CH4 (1.99) with 36–80% improvement, when compared to PSF(SP)/PET membranes. Based on that, it is highly recommended to use PSF/PET with FP structure in hydrogen separationindustry.

A Cytotoxic Lupeol Fatty Acid Ester and Other Pentacyclic Triterpenes from Salvadora persica Seeds

        Samy K. El-Desouky 한국생약학회 2023 Natural Product Sciences Vol.29 No.3

The phytochemical investigation of the ethyl acetate fraction of the methanol seed extract of Salvadora persica resulted in the isolation and identification of five pentacyclic triterpenes (1-5), oleanolic acid (1), ursolic acid (2), β-amyrin (3), β-amyrin acetate (4) and lupeol tricosanoate (5). The structures of these compounds were established by the analysis of their NMR spectroscopic and mass spectrometric data. In the bioactivity assay, compound 5 showed moderate cytotoxic activities against breast cancer cell lines (MCF-7), colon cancer cell lines (HT-29) and hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines (HepG2) with IC50 values of 9.4, 6.85 and 12.74 μg/mL. respectively. In all previous studies, lupeol tricosanoate (5) has been isolated as a mixture of triterpenoid long-chain fatty acid esters and this is the first report of its isolation and characterization as a pure molecule. Moreover, the occurrence of fatty acid ester of triterpene in this plant is of taxonomic importance.

Effect of Prunetin on Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Nephropathy in Rats - a Biochemical and Molecular Approach

        Samy Jose Vinoth Raja Antony,Kumar Nirubama,Singaravel Sengottuvelu,Krishnamoorthy Rajapandiyan,Alshuniaber Mohammad A,Gatasheh Mansour K.,Venkatesan Amalan,Natesan Vijayakumar,Kim Sung-Jin 한국응용약물학회 2023 Biomolecules & Therapeutics(구 응용약물학회지) Vol.31 No.6

In the modern era, chronic kidney failure due to diabetes has spread across the globe. Prunetin (PRU), a component of herbal medicines, has a broad variety of pharmacological activities; these may help to slow the onset of diabetic kidney disease. The anti-nephropathic effects of PRU have not yet been reported. The present study explored the potential nephroprotective actions of PRU in diabetic rats. For 28 days, nephropathic rats were given oral doses of PRU (20, 40, and 80 mg/kg). Body weight, blood urea, creatinine, total protein, lipid profile, liver marker enzymes, carbohydrate metabolic enzymes, C-reactive protein, antioxidants, lipid peroxidative indicators, and the expression of insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS-1) and glucose transporter 2 (GLUT-2) mRNA genes were all examined. Histological examinations of the kidneys, liver, and pancreas were also performed. The oral treatment of PRU drastically lowered the blood glucose, HbA1c, blood urea, creatinine, serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase, serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase, alkaline phosphatase, lipid profile, and hexokinase. Meanwhile, the levels of fructose 1,6-bisphosphatase, glucose-6-phosphatase, and phosphoenol pyruvate carboxykinase were all elevated, but glucose- 6-phosphate dehydrogenase dropped significantly. Inflammatory marker antioxidants and lipid peroxidative markers were also less persistent due to this administration. PRU upregulated the IRS-1 and GLUT-2 gene expression in the nephropathic group. The possible renoprotective properties of PRU were validated by histopathology of the liver, kidney, and pancreatic tissues. It is therefore proposed that PRU (80 mg/kg) has considerable renoprotective benefits in diabetic nephropathy in rats.
