This study intends to 1) identify the best species for aforestation in the grass land in La Mesa watershed and 2) compare the growth between flat land and mountain area in the same region. The research activity was divided into three different experiments; Treatment I- effects of different planting density on the two areas, Treatment II- growth comparison between nitrogen fixing species and non nitrogen fixing species, and Treatment III-effects of grass treatments. After we established the experiment plantation, height growth, total chlorophyll contents and photosynthesis were monitored.Generally, the height growth and total chlorophyll contents of four species grown in the mountain area were higher than those of seedling grown in flat land. In addition, photosynthetic rates of four species grown in the mountain area were higher than those in flat land.
