Objectives This study evaluates the bond strength and marginal adaptation of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) Repair HP and Biodentine used as apical plugs; MTA was used as reference material for comparison. Materials and Methods A total of 30 single-rooted teeth with standardized, artificially created open apices were randomly divided into 3 groups (n = 10 per group), according to the material used to form 6-mm-thick apical plugs: group 1 (MTA Repair HP); group 2 (Biodentine); and group 3 (white MTA). Subsequently, the specimens were transversely sectioned to obtain 2 (cervical and apical) 2.5-mm-thick slices per root. Epoxy resin replicas were observed under a scanning electron microscope to measure the gap size at the material/dentin interface (the largest and smaller gaps were recorded for each replica). The bond strength of the investigated materials to dentin was determined using the push-out test. The variable bond strengths and gap sizes were evaluated independently at the apical and cervical root dentin slices. Data were analyzed using descriptive and analytic statistics. Results The comparison between the groups regarding the variables' bond strengths and gap sizes showed no statistical difference (p > 0.05) except for a single difference in the smallest gap at the cervical root dentin slice, which was higher in group 3 than in group 1 (p < 0.05). Conclusions The bond strength and marginal adaptation to root canal walls of MTA HP and Biodentine cement were comparable to white MTA. Hemangioma is a benign tumor characterized by the proliferation of blood vessels. Although it often appears in soft tissues, its occurrence in bone tissue, particularly the mandible, is extremely rare. A 32-year-old female sought attention at the dental clinic complaining of a painless swelling in the posterior region of the left side of the mandible. A panoramic radiograph and computed axial tomography scan were taken, showing honeycomb and sunburst images, respectively, in the affected area. The patient underwent a biopsy, which led to the diagnosis of intraosseous hemangioma. Having assessed the characteristics of the lesion, it was decided to perform complete excision including safety margins, followed by an iliac crest bone graft to reconstruct the mandible. Awareness of the possible clinical and radiographic presentations of intraosseous hemangioma is considered important, as non-diagnosis could have severe consequences given its possible relation to dental structures.

Rafael Richard Clorado de Sá,Sophie Coelho,Puneet Kaur Parmar,Samantha Johnstone,Hyoun Soo Kim,Hermano Tavares 대한신경정신의학회 2023 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.20 No.8
Objective Internet gaming disorder (IGD) is an increasingly common behavioral addiction, with an estimated global prevalence of 3%. A variety of pharmacological treatments have been used to treat IGD, yet no review to date has synthesized clinical trials evaluating their efficacy. This systematic review therefore synthesized the literature reporting on clinical trials of pharmacological treatments for IGD.Methods We reviewed articles from MEDLINE, Embase, PubMed Central, CINAHL, and PsycINFO that were published as of March of 2022. A total of 828 articles were retrieved for review and 12 articles were included, reporting on a total of 724 participants. Results Most participants were male (98.6%), and all were currently living in South Korea. The most common drugs used to treat IGD were bupropion, methylphenidate, and a range of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. The Young Internet Addiction Scale was the most frequently used to measure gaming-related outcomes. All studies reported reduced symptoms of IGD from pre- to post-treatment. Across all clinical trials, IGD symptom reductions following the administration of pharmacological treatments ranged from 15.4% to 51.4%. A risk of bias assessment indicated that only four studies had a low risk of bias. Conclusion Preliminary results suggest that a wide array of pharmacological interventions may be efficacious in the treatment of IGD. Future studies using double-blind randomized controlled trial designs, recruiting larger and more representative samples, and controlling for psychiatric comorbidities are needed to better inform understanding of pharmacological treatments for IGD.

Objective To analyze the clinical, psychopathological, physical, and sleep-related evolution of adolescents with restricting-type of anorexia nervosa (AN-R) after 10 weeks of a daytime hospital program. Methods Body composition, physical activity and sleep were measured objectively before and after 10 weeks of treatment. In addition, psychopathology and body image disturbances were measured with a self-report questionnaire. Results Fourteen female adolescents with AN-R (14.3±1.6 years old) participated in the study. A significant increase was found in eight of the ten variables for body composition (p<0.05). There were no significant changes in psychopathology, body image disturbances or physical activity. Concerning sleep, a significant, moderately standardized and substantial increase in night latency was found (p=0.002), and there was a significant, small standardized and substantial decrease in night efficiency (p=0.035). Conclusion After 10 weeks of follow-up with adolescent patients with AN-R who attended a day hospital program, there was a positive evolution of body composition. However, with regard to sleep patterns, there was a worsening of latency and night efficiency. Therefore, sleep care should be addressed in acute treatment programs for adolescents with AN-R.
Lubrication Aspects during Single Point Incremental Forming for Steel and Aluminum Materials
Nelson Gil Azevedo,João Sá Farias,Ricardo Pereira Bastos,Pedro Teixeira,João Paulo Davim,Ricardo Jose Alves de Sousa 한국정밀공학회 2015 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.
Over the past few years, Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) has been mainly studied regarding formability, forming forcesinvolved and the dimensional accuracy achieved in the final product. As in any other metal forming process, the choice of thelubricant depends on the deformation mechanisms that characterize the process, the roughness of the material involved and on theprocess parameters. Despite the recent developments on SPIF, little attention has been paid to the influence of lubricants used duringthe process. This study intends to evaluate the influence of the type of lubricant used in SPIF process, particularly on aluminum 1050and DP780 steel sheets, in what concerns the surface quality of final parts. To do so, tests were performed employing a range ofdistinct lubricants. Roughness tests were conducted to evaluate surface quality. Results show opposite trends for aluminum and steelin the sense that lubricants that guarantee better results in aluminum proved to have worse results in steel and vice-versa.
Semi-continuous extraction/hydrolysis of spent coffee grounds with subcritical water
Bruno M. Pedras,Murilo Nascimento,Isabel Sá-Nogueira,Pedro Simões,Alexandre Paiva,Susana Barreiros 한국공업화학회 2019 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.72 No.-
Spent coffee grounds (SCG) were treated with subcritical water (SBW) in a semi-continuous reactor atdifferent temperatures, pressures, and waterflowrates. Yields of carbohydrates and phenolics reached33.7 g and 4 g per 100 g-dry SCG, respectively, at 200 oC, 70 bar and 10 mL/min. Liquors collected at thebeginning of assays were richer in phenolics and poorer in carbohydrates, whose yield increased sharplywhen temperature reached 150 oC. Most carbohydrates were recovered as oligosaccharides, andpractically all cellulose remained in the SCG recovered at the end of assays. Extracts exhibited DPPHantioxidant capacity and antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Pulse Waveform Analysis of Chinese Pulse Images and Its Association with Disability in Hypertension
Nathalia Gomes Ribeiro Moura,Arthur Sá Ferreira 사단법인약침학회 2016 Journal of Acupuncture & Meridian Studies Vol.9 No.2
Hypertension affects functional capacity and quality of life. Pulse wave analysis (PWA) quantifies the pulse waveform’s propagation and its changes resulting from arterial remodeling. Pulse image analysis (PIA) in traditional Chinese medicine contributes to pattern differentiation and therapeutic intervention. This protocol study evaluates the relationships between the parameters of bothPWA and PIA to identify patterns in patients with hypertension and the associations of those patterns with functional capacity. In this observational, cross-sectional study protocol 40 patients were subjected to clinical and laboratorial examinations to assess the risk factors for cardiovascular disease and pattern differentiation. PWA was noninvasively performed at the radial artery to estimate the pulse wave’s velocity, arterial compliance, and reflection index. PIA using the “simultaneous pressing” method was performed to assess nine indicators. Handgrip strength and physical activity was assessed as functional outcomes. We hypothesized that interactions between patterns and pulse images affect the PWA parameters and that the functional outcomes are weakly associated with personal, hemodynamic and risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Performing a PIA in patients with hypertension might allow the identification of early target-organ damage, standardization of the PIA based on the PWA, and unification of the pulse diagnosis.
