There are three goals: (1) For the design of green products, green components and product management are set up for the purpose of de-toxin and ease of disassemble; (2) For the green supply chain, the management of hazardous substances, product recycle and disassemble are set up; (3) For the product recycling management, the recycling information is feedback for the product update and collaboration operation. The result of research can provide information for the integration of workflow and information system currently in use, provide RoHS and WEEE management solutions, and set up green collaboration information system, so that green products, brand leadership, and environment protection endeavor can be assured.

      • RELATIONSHIP-BASED PRODUCT INNOVATIONS: EVIDENCE FROM THE GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN

        Ruey Jer “Bryan” Jean,Daekwan Kim,Daniel C. Bello 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2016 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2016 No.7

Global supply chains offer a range of expertise to suppliers interested in generating innovative new products from their close, working relationships with other firms. However, research on whether and how social capital between firms can be leveraged for innovation is equivocal, conceptualizing little of the underlying processes responsible for mobilizing social capital and yielding mostly contradictory empirical results. This study proposes and tests the intermediate mechanisms of proactive customer orientation and joint learning capability as two distinctive capabilities that may account for the way social capital drives relationship-based radical innovation. The conceptual model posits the social capital-innovation link is neither simple nor direct, and an empirical test on 204 Taiwanese suppliers demonstrates the complexity of the innovation generation process. Largely confirming our conceptualization, two pathways from social capital to innovation are revealed: joint learning capability fully mediates the link while proactive customer orientation’s role is moderated by aspects of the suppliers tie to its international customer. Finally, implications for theory and practice for innovation in global supply chain relationships are drawn.

Analysis of Revenue-Sharing Contracts for Service Facilities

Ruey Huei Yeh,Yi-Fang Lin 대한산업공학회 2009 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.8 No.4

There are customer services jointly provided by two facilities so that each customer will complete the course made up of both facilities’ sub-services. The two facilities are assumed invested respectively by an infrastructure owner and one subordinate facility owner, whose partnership is built on their capital investments. This paper presents a mathematical model of Stackelberg competition between the two facility owners to derive their optimal Nash equilibrium. In this study, each facility owner"s profit is consisted of fixed revenue fractions of sold services, operating costs (including depreciation cost) and maintenance costs of her facility. The maintenance costs of one facility are incurred both by failures and deterioration due to usage. Moreover, for both facilities, failures are rectified immediately by minimal repairs and preventive maintenance is carried out at a fixed time epoch. Additional assumptions are also employed to develop the model such as customer arrivals are manipulated to follow a Poisson process, and each facility"s lifetime is independently Weibull-distributed. The Stackelberg game proceeds as follows. At the first stage of decision making process, the infrastructure owner (acting as a leader) decides the allocation of revenue shares based on her self-interest. After observing the allocation of revenue shares, the subordinate facility owner determines her own optimal price of services. This paper investigates actions and reactions of the two partners in the system. Then analytical conditions are proposed to achieve a unique optimal Nash equilibrium. Finally, some suggestions for further research are discussed.

Adsorptive Recovery and Purification of Prodigiosin from Methanol/Water Solutions of Serratia marcescens Fermentation Broth

Ruey Shin Juang,Chun-Lan Yeh 한국생물공학회 2014 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.19 No.1

The use of macroporous polymeric adsorptionresins for the recovery and purification of prodigiosin fromfermentation broth of Serratia marcescens SMDR wassystematically studied, in which the broth was pretreatedby coagulation with alum and the resulting precipitate wasleached by methanol/water solution. Of the seven resinstested, Diaion HP-20 resin was selected considering theadsorption and desorption abilities for prodigiosin at thesame time. The optimal compositions of liquid phases foradsorption and desorption were also examined. Batchexperiments were performed at 15 ~ 35oC by varying initialprodigiosin concentration in solution (0.05 ~ 0.5 mmol/L),in which molar fraction of each component in the solutionwas kept constant. The Freundlich and Langmuir equationswere used to describe adsorption isotherms and the relatedthermodynamic functions were also determined. Fixed-bedexperiments were finally conducted to obtain the breakthroughcharacteristics for the adsorption and desorption ofprodigiosin. Under optimized conditions, a purificationfactor of prodigiosin of 11.4 could be obtained from thepretreated broth after one adsorption-desorption run in fixedbed. The present results had demonstrated the promisingpotential of HP-20 resins for the recovery and purificationof prodigiosin from methanol/water solution of Serratiamarcescens fermentation broth.

      • Using the Analytic Network Process(ANP) with SWOT Analysis -A Case Study for Food and Beverage Industry-

        ( Ruey Jaw Ten ),( Jia Chi Lin ) 한국문화관광학회 2013 문화관광연구 Vol.15 No.1

The food and beverage industry is very competitive in Taiwan. It is very important to investigate both internal and external environment factors in the first planning process and marketing strategy. SWOT analysis is a commonly used tool and it is a systematic way which provides advice for the decision-maker. This Study applied the method of A`WOT which is developed by Kurttila et al.(2000) who combined the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) and SWOT analysis into one. SWOT analysis is to explore the strengths and weaknesses in its internal environment and opportunities, threats in the external environment. Because of the dependency among the SWOT factors, the proposed algorithm applied the analytic network process (ANP) which allows the dependency among the strategic factors as well as AHP. The expert interview was conducted for the A`WOT analysis. The aim of this study was to determine the priorities of the SWOT factor which was converted into SO, ST, WO, and WT strategies. The result shows that SO strategy “build the brand” is the best policy for the restaurant on marketing in Hsin Chu, Taiwan. Also the result will back reference to the restaurant managers. These results will be given to the restaurant managers for future reference.

Oscillatory Turing Patterns in a Simple Reaction-Diffusion System

        Ruey-Tarng Liu,Philip K. Maini,Sy-Sang Liaw 한국물리학회 2007 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.50 No.1I

Turing suggested that, under certain conditions, chemicals can react and diffuse in such a way as to produce steady-state inhomogeneous spatial patterns of chemical concentrations. We consider a simple two-variable reaction-diffusion system and find there is a spatio-temporally oscillating solution (STOS) in parameter regions where linear analysis predicts a pure Turing instability and no Hopf instability. We compute the boundary of the STOS and spatially non-uniform solution (SSNS) regions and investigate what features control its behavior.

Dietary fat preference and effects on performance of piglets at weaning

        Ruey-Chee Weng 아세아·태평양축산학회 2017 Animal Bioscience Vol.30 No.6

Objective: An experiment was to evaluate the interplay of dietary lipid sources and feeding regime in the transition from sow milk to solid food of abruptly weaned piglets. Methods: Soon after weaning, 144 piglets were selected and were trained over a 15 day period to experience gradually reducing dietary fat content from 12% to 6% for lard (L), soybean oil (S), and coconut oil (C) and their feeding behavior and diet preference then tested in a behavior observation experiment. Another 324 weaned piglets were used in three consecutive feeding experiments to measure the effect of different dietary fats on performance and feed choice in the four weeks after abrupt weaning. The lipid sources were used as supplements in a 3% crude fat corn/soya basal diet, with 6% of each being included to form diets 9C, 9S, and 9L respectively, and their effects on performance measured. Combinations of these diets were then further compared in fixed blends or free choice selection experiments. Results: Piglets pre-trained to experience reducing lipid inclusion showed different subsequent preferences according to lipid source, with a preference for lard at 9%, soybean oil at 3%, and coconut oil at 6% inclusion rate (p<0.001). Following abrupt weaning, whilst after 4 weeks those fed 9C had the heaviest body weights (18.13 kg, p = 0.006). Piglets fed a fixed 1:1 blend of 9C+9S had a poorer feed conversion ratio (FCR = 1.80) than those fed a blend of 9C+9L (FCR = 1.4). The 9C and 9L combination groups showed better performance in both fixed blend and free choice feeding regimes. Conclusion: After abrupt weaning, they still have dependence on high oleic acid lipids as found in sow milk. A feeding regime offering free choice combination of lipids might give the possibility for piglets to cope better with the transition at weaning, but further research is needed.
