The studies on activated carbon prepared from walnut shell and groundnut shell were undertaken to ascertain the effect of initial state of precursor and activation process on the development of porosity in the resulting activated carbon. Walnut shell based carbon shows the presence of cellular pores while Groundnut shell based carbon shows fibrillar pore structure. The adsorption parameters, characterization of product and scanning electron microscopic studies carried out showed the presence of mainly Micro, Meso and Macro porosity in carbon prepared from Walnut shell while mainly micro porosity was observed in Groundnut shell based activated carbon. An interrelationship between the adsorption efficiency and porosity in terms of quality control parameters, for before and after activation, was validated through the scanning electron microscopic data.

Background: Epidural steroid injections are an accepted procedure for the conservative management of chronic backache caused by lumbar disc pathology. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the epidurographic findings for the midline, transforaminal and parasagittal approaches in lumbar epidural steroid injections, and correlating them with the clinical improvement. Methods: Sixty chronic lower back pain patients with unilateral radiculitis from a herniated/degenerated disc were enrolled. After screening the patients according to the exclusion criteria and randomly allocating them to 3 groups of 20 patients, fluoroscopic contrast enhanced epidural steroids were injected via midline (group 1), transforaminal (group 2) and parasagittal interlaminar (group 3) approaches at the level of the pathology. The fluoroscopic patterns of the three groups were studied and correlated with the clinical improvement measured by the VAS over the next 3 months; any incidences of complications were recorded. Results: The transforaminal group presented better results in terms of VAS reduction than the midline and parasagittal approach groups (P < 0.05). The epidurography showed a better ventral spread for both the transforaminal (P < 0.001) and the paramedian approaches (P < 0.05), as compared to the midline approach. The nerve root filling was greater in the transforaminal group (P < 0.001) than in the other two groups. The ventral spread of the contrast agent was associated with improvement in the VAS score and this difference was statistically significant in group 1 (P < 0.05), and highly significant in groups 2 and 3 (P < 0.001). In all the groups, any complications observed were transient and minor. Conclusions: The midline and paramedian approaches are technically easier and statistically comparable, but clinically less efficacious than the transforaminal approach. The incidence of ventral spread and nerve root delineation show a definite correlation with clinical improvement. However, an longer follow-up period is advisable for a better evaluation of the actual outcom. (Korean J Pain 2014; 27: 353-359)
Action and Object Naming Deficit in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy
( Ruchi Sehgal ) 서강대학교 언어정보연구소 2013 언어와 정보 사회 Vol.20 No.-
Eight cases of progressive supranu-clear palsy (PSP) and eight normal subjects as control group were studied to examine whether their naming ability was affected or not. The naming ability that was examined was “action and object naming” of the patients with the help of a “picture naming test”, designed for Hindi speaking population. The paper aims to examine if there is any action and object naming deficits in Hindi speaking patients suffering from PSP. The study also analyzes the degree of impairment in the patients suffering from PSP. PSP patients exhibit “slurred speech” but is the impairment only “phonological” or the lexicon is also impaired? Finally the study aims to assess the degree of impairment manifested through PSP in nouns and verbs in PSP patients. PSP is caused due to damage to the frontal lobe which has been proven to be involved in con-trolling body movements. Earlier researches have established the fact that the damage to the frontal lobe always leads to the impairment of verbs (Cappa and Perani 2003; Cotelli 2006). However the current study also points out the noun impairment in PSP patients. This study is an attempt to understand the mental lexicon concentrating on the organization of nouns and verbs in the mental lexicon.
Hierarchical Routing Techniques for Wireless Sensor Networks : A Comprehensive Survey
Ruchi Aggarwal,Anupam Mittal,Ramandeep Kaur 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Future Generation Communi Vol.9 No.7
This paper describes the concept of routing in wireless sensor networks. Routing algorithm provides reliable path from source to destination. Energy efficiency is main constraint in Wireless Sensor Networks. For improving life time and energy consumption various routing algorithms have been proposed. In this paper describe the hierarchical routing techniques. Hierarchical routing includes tree based routing, cluster based routing, chain based protocol, and grid based routing. And also compare the hierarchical routing techniques.
Bilateral Trade Potential of IP Sensitive Products: A Comparative Study of India and China
Ruchi Sharma,Arushi Jain,Sidheswar Panda 아시아기술혁신학회 2022 Asian Journal of Innovation and Policy Vol.11 No.1
This study examines performances and varieties of export of IP sensitive products across emerging countries, namely, India and China by utilizing 6-digit disaggregated product-level export data. Further, this study constructs trade margins — extensive and intensive margins to understand trade potential and different trade patterns, specifically, exporters’ productivity, product diversification, and volume of trade during 2007-2016. This study finds India’s performance is comparable with China at the extensive margin though the gap between India and China is very wide in terms of the total value of exports and the intensive margin. China majorly exports more expensive electronics and manufacturing-related products as opposed to relatively cheaper medicinal and synthetic products, the total value of exports from China to the rest of the world is much higher than that of India. This study suggests that India is exporting IP-sensitive products to lower-income countries sufficiently, but the IP-sensitive exports to higher-income countries are still lagging.
Stabilizing Periodontally Compromized Teeth with Polyethylene Fibre Splint: A Case Report
Ruchi Singla,Rahul Grover 대한예방치과학회 2015 International Journal of Clinical Preventive Denti Vol.11 No.2
The aim of this article is to present a case of splinting periodontally compromised mandibular right anterior teeth with polyethylene fibre reinforced composite splint-ribbond. A 34-year-old male with Grade II mobile mandibular right anterior teeth splinted with ribbond. Different materials have been successfully used for splinting which include–composite, wire and composite and fibre reinforced splints. In order to fulfill both the periodontal and restorative needs, ribbons and fibers were developed that could be reinforced with composite resin to form thin-but-strong splints. These splints are more stable and durable than the approaches of splinting used in the past.
Enhance the Reliability and Security of AES
Ruchi Garg,Mandeep Kaur 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.8 No.6
Security is playing a very important role in the field of authentication system, network system and Internet. The main goal of cryptography is to secure the data so that it cannot be accessed by any unauthorized user. Cryptography is an emerging tool, which is important for authentication. The AES is a 128 bit Symmetric block Cipher. This paper include enhancing reliability and security, use modified AES (Advanced Encryption Technique) which will be implemented step by step. For the process of encryption various classical techniques are used. These are substitution technique, rearrangement and transformation technique. Key expansion module is introduced in the encryption and decryption modules, which generates key for all iterations. In each iterative rounds addition of an arithmetic operator and a route transposition cipher is introduced in this modification. To increase the immunity against unauthorized attacks, the Key extended module doubles the number of iterative processing rounds.
