PDGFR-β-Positive Perivascular Adventitial Cells Expressing Nestin Contribute to Fibrotic Scar Formation in the Striatum of 3-NP Intoxicated Rats

<P>Perivascular cells expressing platelet-derived growth factor receptor beta (PDGFR-β) have recently been implicated in fibrotic scar formation after acute brain injury, but their precise identity and detailed morphological characteristics remain elusive. This study sought to characterize and define the cellular phenotype of vascular-associated cells expressing PDGFR-β in the striatum of rats treated with the mitochondrial toxin 3-nitropropionic acid (3-NP). In the control striatum, PDGFR-β-positive cells were invariably localized on the abluminal side of smooth muscle cells of larger caliber vessels, and demonstrated morphological features typical of perivascular fibroblasts. PDGFR-β expression increased and expanded to almost all vessels, including microvessels in the lesion core, at 7 days after 3-NP injection. The cells expressing PDGFR-β had ultrastructural features of fibroblasts undergoing active collagen synthesis: large euchromatic nuclei with a prominent nucleolus, well-developed rough endoplasmic reticulum (rER) with dilated cisterns and extracellular collagen fibrils. By 14 days, PDGFR-β-positive cells had somata located at a distance from the vasculature, and their highly ramified, slender processes overlapped with those from other cells, thus forming a plexus of processes in the extravascular space of the lesion core. In addition, their ultrastructural morphology and spatial correlation with activated microglia/macrophages were elaborated by three-dimensional reconstruction. Using a correlative light- and electron-microscopy technique, we found that the intermediate filament proteins nestin and vimentin were induced in PDGFRβ-positive fibroblasts in the lesion core. Collectively, our data suggest that perivascular PDGFR-β-positive fibroblasts are distinct from other vascular cell types, including pericytes and contribute to fibrotic scar formation in the lesion core after acute brain injury. Nestin and vimentin play critical roles in the structural dynamics of these reactive fibroblasts.</P>

Optimal Screening Procedures for Improving Outgoing Quality Based on Correlated Normal Variables

Optimal screening procedures for improving outgoing product quality based on correlated normal variables are presented. The performance variable and the screening variables are assumed to be jointly normally distributed. These procedures do not require specialized tables, and closed-form solutions are obtained for the case of one-sided specification. Methods for finding optimal solutions for the case of two-sided specifications are also considered.

靑泉 申維翰의 불교관 연구 -『奮忠紓難錄』을 중심으로

  The objective of this research was to find out and show the buddhistic idea of Confucianist in the late Chosun Dynasty(朝鮮) period in Korea. The text 『BunChungseonanrok(奮忠舒難錄)』 is the book about the Buddhistic monk, Sa-myung(四溟) who took an active part in the war of Imjin(壬辰) the Japanese Forces invaded (1592). In other word, the book『BunChungseonanrok』has the contents of the records that Sa-myung negotiated with Chung-Jung (淸正), the Japanese General and the letters gave to some Japanese monks.<BR>  The editor of this book is Yu-han Shin(申維翰1681-1739) who explained and commented about Sa-myung"s brave and religious activities as well as published this book.<BR>  He was born by cocubine in the late 17th century. So he was drawn a distriction and limited in entering into the political circles. In this manner he probably felt the sympathy concerning about the Buddhistic monks were badly discriminated in social station.<BR>  Through publishing the book 『BunChungseonanrok』he intended to change the fixed Buddhistic idea of the high-ranking confucianist, because he cannot advance to the high-ranking official. Moreover this paper show that Yu-han Shin" editting this book included the mental state and intention to protect and support the Buddhist circles restrined in Chosun Dynasty.<BR>  In doing that, he would enhance the pride of the monks and this reason he selected representstive of the world of Buddhist, the very Sa-myung.<BR>  In brief, this paper concluded that Yu-han Shin was the scholar who had the appreciative eye in Buddhism(especially Zen) in spite of the confucianist and he made a hard efforts in enhancing the status of Buddhists.

한국 교원정책연구의 지적구조 탐색 - 저자서지결합 분석을 중심으로 -

이 연구는 한국 교원정책연구와 관련된 주요 저자들 사이의 인용관계로 인해 나타나는 ‘지적구조’를 분석하는 학문적 작업이다. ‘지적구조’의 의미는 학문을 하는 과정에서 형성된 어떤 학문 분야의 주요 개념, 세부주제영역, 연구방법, 학파 등 계량서지학 분야에서 사용하는 지적구조로서 한국학술지인용색인(KCI) 등재(후보) 학술지에 2002년~ 2014년 7월까지 게재된 교원정책 관련 연구논문을 대상으로 저자서지결합 분석을 수행하여 한국 교원정책연구 분야에서 활발하게 활동하고 있는 주요 연구자 48명과 11개 군집, 교원정책연구의 9개 하위주제영역을 확인하였다. 또한, 교원정책연구 분야의 신진연구자, 다른 연구자들과 폭넓게 연계된 연구자, 자신의 군집에서 영향력 있는 연구자, 교원정책연구의 핵심 주제영역이면서 교원정책연구 전반에 걸쳐 폭넓게 연계된 하위주제영역을 조사하였다. 이와 관련해 교원정책 전문 연구자 육성과 지속적인 연구활동을 위한 학문적․정책적 지원이 필요하고, 지금까지 연구되지않았던 영역과 주제에 대해서도 연구활동이 수행되어야 하며, 학문적 문제의식을 공유하고함께 연구를 해나가는 결속력 있는 학문공동체가 형성, 구축될 필요가 있음을 제언하였다. It aimed to analyze the 'intellectual structure' which appears due to the citation relation among major authors related to Korea teacher policy researches. As the 'intellectual structure' is the same concept in the bibliometrics, it means the main concept, subordinate subject, research method, and schools of some disciplines formed in the course of the studies. Researches were collected and analyzed by Author Bibliographic Coupling Analysis through the Korea Citation Index(KCI) DB as the teacher policy related research papers published in KCI registration academic journal from 2002 to 2014. It determined 48 major researchers who are actively participating in teacher policy research field, 11 groups and 9 subordinate subject areas as a result. Also, it investigated junior researchers in teacher policy research, the researchers who had broad network with others and who took influential network among their own group, and the subordinate subject as the core subject and had broad network with other subject of teacher policy research. The conclusions and suggestions are necessary to train teacher policy professional researcher, support academically and politically for their continuous research, conduct research activities on the area that has not been researched so far, and share academic problem awareness and form a cohesive scientific community that proceed research together in order to get the growth and development of teacher policy research.

Effects of tooth Whitening and topical Fiuoride Applocation on Shade and Translucency Changes in tooth with Early Caries Lesion

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate shade and translucency change by means of various topical fluoride application after tooth whitening on teeth with artificial caries lesions. Materials and method: 84 extracted anterior teeth were selected and induced to artificial caries by 0.1 M lactic acid-sodium hydroxide buffer solution, then tooth whitening treatment were performed for 2 weeks. Topical fluoride application was sequentially applied for 4 times. Improvement of shade and translucency were checked by Shadescan and evaluated according to types of whitening agents, topical fluoride agents and application methods. Results: By application of tooth whitening agent, translucency seemed to be increased in all groups (p<0.05), but after 2 weeks, there was no significant difference within group and also between group comparisons (p>0.05). Except of 22% carbamide peroxide gel application group, value difference ratio was decreased significantly and value difference between the lesion and normal tooth area seemed to be increased (p<0.05). At the beginning of fluoride application, translucency was improved significantly in 0.1% sodium fluoride strip group and fluoride varnish application groups (p<0.05) ; at 4 weeks, all groups showed the significantly increased translucency (p<0.05). There was no significant difference between groups comparisons (p>0.05). Control group and 2% sodium fluoride strip application group showed constant increasing of value difference ratio between the lesion and normal tooth area (p<0.05) ; 0.1% sodium fluoride strip group seemed to be steady state ; fluoride varnish group showed continuous recovery of value difference ratio (p<0.05). Conclusion: It seemed that demineralized area of tooth with early caries was remineralized without any treatment, in addtion fluoride application could make it possible to accelerate recovery of tooth shade and translucency. Clinically in case of patient showed incipient caries in their anterior teeth, just applying whitening agent had any alternative plan could make additional inconsistency and demineralization. It was suggested that fluoride application after whitening to such patients could make more desirable improvement of shade and advanced remineralization.
