AGE DATING GALAXY GROUPS IN THE MILLENNIUM SIMULATION
RAOUF, MOJTABA,KHOSROSHAHI, HABIB G. The Korean Astronomical Society 2015 天文學論叢 Vol.30 No.2
We study galaxies drawn from the semi-analytic models of Guo et al. (2011) based on the Millennium Simulation. We establish a set of four observationally measurable parameters which can be used in combination to identify a subset of galaxy groups which are old, with a very high probability. We therefore argue that a sample of fossil groups selected based on the luminosity gap will result in a contaminated sample of old galaxy groups. By adding constraints on the luminosity of the brightest galaxy, and its offset from the group luminosity centroid, we can considerably improve the age-dating.

Recently, the solid state nuclear track detector SSNTD (CR-39) has occupied a very important place at the top of radiation detectors for passive measurements. For this reason, many investigation were done to improve the properties of this detector. In this investigation, the energy gap of that detector was calculated by measuring the transmission at different wavelengths for ten samples. Five irradiated by electrons at different energies and the other five irradiated by X-rays at different energies in the Radiation Unit of the University Hospital of Zagzig University, Zagzig, Egypt. Another sample was used as the standard sample. The transmission for all samples was measured at the National Research Center Al-Doqe, Cairo, Egypt.

The current study presents an integrated model that explores how customer brand identification (CBI), affective commitment, customer satisfaction, and brand trust influence the development of customer behavioral intention of loyalty (CBIL) in the hospitality sector. The underpinning theories of this study are social identity theory and relationship marketing theory. Data were collected in the form of a survey from 345 customers staying at different hotels across six cities in India. The data were analyzed by using confirmatory factor analysis, followed by structural equation modeling. The findings illustrated that the influence of CBI on CBIL is direct as well as mediated by affective commitment, customer satisfaction, and brand trust. The latter three constructs were also direct predictors of CBIL while the influence of customer satisfaction and brand trust on CBIL was found to be mediated by affective commitment as well. These matters have received little attention in marketing generally and hospitality research particularly, and knowledge of the proposed relationships may lead to further research on this topic.
Time Series Analysis of the Dollar/Won Exchange Rate
Raouf S. Hanna,Michael G. Vogt 서울대학교 경제연구소 1991 Seoul journal of economics Vol.4 No.4
This paper employs the sticky-price asset model (Hooper and Morton 1982) and the Sims' innovation accounting technique to assess the relative contributions of the determinants of the U.S. Dollar/Korean Won exchange rate. Monthly data during the period July 1974 through October 1988 are used in the analysis. Tests are made for stationarity and cointegration of the variables. The results indicate that in the short-run more than half of the forecast error variance of the (change in the log of the) exchange rate is due to its own innovations. The relative importance of economic fundamentals becomes greater as the forecast horizon increases. In the long-run (3 years) innovations in economic conditions account for about 70% of the forecast error variance of the exchange rate.

Recently, prognostic and health management (PHM) has become a prominent field in modern industry. The rotate vector (RV) reducer is one of the widely used mechanical components in industrial systems, specifically in robots. The RV reducer is known for its unique characteristics of small size, efficient speed transmission, and high torsion. The RV reducer is prone to several kinds of faults, due to its continuous operation in an industrial robot. To keep the operation smooth and steady, timely PHM of the RV reducer has become essential. Previously, the RV reducer fault was diagnosed via various techniques, such as ferrography analysis, vibration analysis, and acoustic emission analysis. However, these conventional techniques have various issues. To resolve those issues, we introduce a novel approach to use the embedded electrical current system for the fault detection of the RV reducer. However, this is quite complicated to investigate mechanical fault using an electrical current signature, since the RV reducer is not an integral part of the electric motor, and finding a fault pattern in faulty components needs thorough examination. We therefore focus on the application of machine learning (ML) for fault classifications. We present an approach for feature extraction, feature selection, and feature reduction using the information obtained from the motor current signature analysis to create an ML-based fault classification system with distinguishable prominent features. Finally, the authenticity of the presented approach is justified via the improved values of evaluating parameters, such as accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity, for ML classifiers.
Measurement of capacitance and resistance using two perfectly synchronized voltage sources
Raouf, M.H.A.,Kim, K.T.,Kim, M.S. Published for IMEKO by the Institute of Measuremen 2015 MEASUREMENT -LONDON- Vol.60 No.-
A programmable bridge has been constructed by using two arbitrary waveform generators and DVM as a null-detector for capacitance and resistance measurements. The generators are controlled by a software program which has been specially designed to achieve their optimum performance. Methodology of this bridge has been introduced demonstrating the best way to get accurate ratio measurements up to the accuracy level of 10-5. Our bridge has been used, through this research, to get resistance to resistance and capacitance to resistance ratios at different frequencies. Validation of this bridge has been carried out through comparisons with another conventional bridge, which show satisfying agreement. In addition, the bridge has been verified by calculating its asymmetry which is about 0.65ppm in some cases. Finally, the uncertainty budget for the bridge measurements has been introduced in details.
SELFCON: An Architecture for Self-Configuration of Networks
Boutaba, Raouf,Omari, Salima,Singh Virk, Ajay Pal The Korean Institute of Communications and Informa 2001 Journal of communications and networks Vol.3 No.4
Traditional configuration management involves complex labor-intensive processes performed by experts. The configuration tasks such as installing or reconfiguring a system, provisioning network services and allocating resources typically involve a large number of activities involving multiple network elements. The network elements may be associated with proprietary configuration management instrumentation and may also be spread across heterogeneous network domains thereby increasing the complexity of configuration management. This paper introduces an architecture for the self-configuration of networks (SELFCON). The proposed architecture involves a directory server, which is uses to maintain configuration information. The configuration information stared in the directory server is modeled using the standard DEN specification thereby allowing effective exchange of network, system and configuration management data among heterogeneous management domains. SELFCON associates configuration intelligence with the components of the network, rather than limit it to a centralized management station. The network elements are notified about related changes in configuration policies, based upon which, they perform self-configuration. SELFCON is able to provide automation of configuration management and also an effective unifying framework for enterprise management.
