It is known that radiation therapy is a kind treatment choices of the maxillofacial tumors. This study is designed to investigate the effects of irradiation on rat's tongue tissues as functional tissues which relate to taste, mastication, and pronunciation. 88 rats (Sprague Dawley branch, male) were divided into control group of 4 and experimental group of 84. Experimental group was singly exposed to Co-60 irradiation with 8, 13, 18 Gy in the head and neck region. Animals were sacrificed on 1 hour, 3 hours, 6 hours, 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, and 28 days after the irradiation. The specimens were observed by histopathological examination employing H-E stain and Van-Gieson stain. The results were follows: 1. The tongue tissue were severely swollen on the 1 hour after irradiation, but gradually decreased in course of time. 2. The basal cells of epithelium of tongue proliferated at initial stage of irradiation, but gradually decrease. The Keratin layer were gradually increased. 3. The muscles within the tongue were severely degenerated at initial stage if irradiation, but gradually recovered almost normally. 4. The tissue change after irradiation were gradually increased by the degree of irradiation.
PES를 이용한 Mg/Si(111)계의 초기 성장모드 연구

LEED와 PES를 이용하여 Si(111)7×7 표면위에 흡착된 Mg의 초기 성장모드를 연구하였다. 상온∼200℃의 기판온도에서 흡착초기에서부터 Mg silicide의 형성을 관측할 수 있었고 이 구조는 최종적으로 2/3√3×2/3√3 R30° 구조의 LEED pattern을 가진 epitaxial silicide로 완성되었다. 계속된 Mg의 흡착은 이 silicide 위로 Mg bulk가 무질서하게 성장됨을 보여준다. 또한 300, 450℃의 기판온도에서는 각각 1×1 그리고 3×1 구조가 관측되었다. The initial growing mode of Mg adsorbed on Si(111)7×7 surface has been studied by low energy electron diffraction (LEED) and photoelectron spectroscopy(PES). With increasing deposition time, the LEED pattern was changed to diffuse 7×7, diffuse 1×1 and 2/3√3×2/3√3 R30° structures at room temperature, successively. Also, we observed the 1×1 and 3×1 patterns at 300 and 450℃, respectively. From the Leed and PES results, it has been found that a Mg silicide is formed at the initial adsorption stage and that the 2/3√3×2/3√3 R30° structure is responsible for the thin epitaxial Mg silicide at RT∼200℃.

Influence of supplemental wiring to standard Wakeman's training system on self-training, breakage, and growth of shoots, and fruit quality of Seibel 9110(S.9110, Verdelet) grapevines was studied. 1.Supplemental wiring increased the rate of self-training of shoots, and 2 to 4 wires were more effective than single wire. 2.Shoot breakage was decreased by the supplemental wiring. 3.Shoot growth tended to increase by the supplememntal wiring, and increase in the number of internodes was recognized only with 1W-15 and 2W-15 treatments. 4.Shoot diameter increased by the supplemental wiring. Pruning weight also was increased with supplemental wiring, especially by 2W-15 and 4W-15-30 treatments. 5.Cluster weight was greatly affected by supplemental wiring, and the effect was enhanced by 2W-15 and 4W-15-30 treatments. Brix degrees(°Bx) tended to increase by supplemental wiring but the effect was noted only by 2W-15 treatment.
Assessment of Soil Compaction Related to the Bulk Density with Land use Types on Arable Land

Soil compaction is affected by soil texture, organic matter (OM), strength (ST) and soil moisture, which is difficult to understand the degree and effects of related factors. The purpose of the study is to assess the impact of them on the compaction with bulk density (BD). The analysis was conducted with data collected from national-wide monitoring sites including 105 upland soils, 246 orchard soils, and 408 paddy soils between 2009 and 2012. The distributions of soil physical properties were measured. The correlation and multi linear regression analysis were performed between soil physical properties using SAS. The regression equation of BD(y) includes ST, gravitational water contents (GWC), and OM as variables commonly, having additional factors, clay content and sand content in paddy soil and upland soil for only subsoil (p<0.001). Our results show that the BD could be explained about 40~50% by various physical properties. The regression was mainly determined by ST in orchard and upland soil and by the GWC in paddy soil. To mitigate soil compaction, it is important to maintain the proper level of OM in upland soil and to consider the moisture condition with soil texture in paddy soil when making work plan. Furthermore, it would be recommended the management criteria classified by soil texture for the paddy soils.

Germination and growth of Laminaria japonica microscopic stages were investigated under crossed gradients of temperatures and irradiances, and the results related to the seasonal temperature regime in the southeastern coast of Korea. Germination rates of 70-86% were observed in the temperature range of 5-20℃, however, at 25℃ no germination of meiospores was observed. The primary factor affecting germination rates at the temperature range of 5-20℃ was irradiance; germination was significantly reduced at 150 μE·m^(-2)·s^(-1) Vegetative cell production of female gametophytes was highest at 20℃, but plants were not fertile at the temperature. In the temperature range of 5-15℃, higher irradiance caused females to reduce cell production, but increased fertility. Cell production was also low at lower temperatures with increased fertility rates. Optimal growth temperature for microsporophytes was 10℃ and their growth rates were light-saturated at 70 μE·m^(-2)·s^(-1). We have concluded that meiospores released before July could develope to the young sporophytic stage in the southeastern coast of Korea which is off the southern limit of its geographical distribution. However, Gmiting factor in the development of natural sporophytic population in this region would be the upper temperature limit for the survival of young sporophytes, as water temperature at this area frequently exceeds 25℃ during the summer period.
On Some Arcwise Connected Hyperspaces

In this paper, we investigated the relationships between the space X and its hyperspaces concerning the properties of compactness, local connectedness connectedness and arcwise connectedness. Then we proved Theorem 2.1, Corollary 2.2, Theorem 2.3, and argued (1)[Theorem 2.4] If X is a Hausdorff space, then X is compact and connected if and only if 2^(x)(or C(X)) is compact arcwise connected Hausdorff space. (2)[Theorem 2.5] If X is a compact Hausdorff space, then the connectedness of X is equivalent to the arcwise connectedness of K(X) (or F_(n)(X), F(X), C_(k)(X)).

In this paper, we prove that if each element A in A(x) contains a noncut point p and there exists a number δ $gt; 0 such that , for all η $gt; 0 less than δ, A - Vη(p) belongs to A(x) , then the set-valued map L : [0, μ((M_α)―) ] → A(x) ∩C((M_α)―) defined by L(t) = A(x) ∩C((M_α)―)∩μ^(-1)(t), t ∈ [0,μ(Ma)) is continuous (Theorem 2.1). And we show that there exists a path from {x} to X in A(x)(Corollary 2,2).
