Design of A Square-Waveguide Polarizer with A Thick Septum

This paper presents a design of a square-waveguide polarizer with a thick septum. The classic S-band design by Chen and Tsandoulas has a septum of thickness 1.27mm (0.011 λ<sub>0</sub> at 2.6GHz) which is too thin to be scaled to higher frequencies. A square-waveguide polarizer with a thick septum is designed using a commercial electromagnetic simulation tool. The septum thickness is increased up to 15.0mm and the performance of the improved polarizer is analyzed. The improved polarizer shows reflection coefficient of less than -20dB, port-to-port isolation of greater than 20dB, and axial ratio of less than 1dB at 2.4-3.0GHz.

This paper presents an approach to the problem of electromagnetic planewave reflection and transmission at multilayer material boundaries based on the wave-amplitude matrix method. In this approach, an analogy of the problem to an equivalent transmission line is evoked and the problem of electromagnetic reflection and transmission at material boundaries is modeled with a cascaded connection of a transmission line impedance step and a transmission line section. The generalized scattering matrix formulation is presented for a two-port network followed by the wave-amplitude matrix method for a cascaded two-port network. The wave-amplitude matrix method is then applied to the cascaded connection of transmission lines. Finally the proposed method is applied to the analysis of an anti-reflection coating and a half-wave radome.
Design of a High-Performance 35GHz Monopulse Lens Antenna

The lens antenna is one of favorable types of antenna at millimeter-wave frequencies since it is structurally simple and of small size. This paper presents a design of a high-performance 35GHz monopulse lens antenna with high aperture efficiency and low sidelobes for missile seeker applications. First, a lens is designed based on the antenna requirements. Next, a monopulse feed is designed utilizing tapered dielectric rods. For ease in the implementation of the monopulse comparator network, a 5-element configuration is adopted where the sum-channel element is separated from difference-channel elements. Finally the monopulse feed and the lens are combined to complete the antenna design. The designed antenna with a 16-wavelength diameter aperture has the sum-channel performance of 32.3dBi gain, 4.24° beamwidth, -28.4dB sidelobe level, and the difference-channel performance of 29.0dBi gain, 2.36° cross-over angle, -23.5dB sidelobe level, and null depth of greater than 40dB.

Platelet-derived growth factor receptor beta (PDGFRB) rearrangements play an important role in the pathogenesis of eosinophilia-associated myeloid/lymphoid neoplasms. Up to now, more than 70 PDGFRB fusions have been identified. Here, a novel PDGFRB fusion gene CSNK2A1-PDGFRB has been identified in myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) with eosinophilia by RNA-sequencing, which has been verified by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and Sanger sequencing. The new PDGFRB fusion partner gene CSNK2A1 encoded one of the two catalytic subunit of casein kinase II (CK2). To our knowledge, this is the first report on the involvement of CSNK2A1 in fusion genes, especially fusion with another kinase PDGFRB in MPN. In addition, the CSNK2A1-PDGFRB fusion retained the entire kinase domain of PDGFRB and response to imatinib at low concentration. The patient with CSNK2A1-PDGFRB was sensitive to imatinib treatment and acquired sustained complete remission.
