Mucilaginibacter hankyongensis sp. nov., isolated from soil of ginseng field Baekdu Mountain
Qingmei Liu,Muhammad Zubair Siddiqi,김미선,김상용,임완택 한국미생물학회 2017 The journal of microbiology Vol.55 No.7
A Gram-negative, non-motile, aerobic, and rod-shaped bacterial strain designated as BR5-28T was isolated from the soil of a ginseng field at Baekdu Mountain Korea, and its taxonomic position was investigated using a polyphasic approach. Strain BR5-28T grew at 10–42°C (optimum temperature, 30°C) and pH 5.5–8.5 (optimum pH, 7.0) on R2A agar medium without additional NaCl supplementation. Strain BR5- 28T exhibited β-glucosidase activity, which was responsible for its ability to transform the ginsenosides Rb1 and Rd (the two dominant active components of ginseng) to compound-K. Based on 16S rRNA gene phylogeny, the novel strain showed a new branch within the genus Mucilaginibacter of the family Sphingobacteriaceae, and formed clusters with Mucilaginibacter frigoritolerans FT22T (95.8%) and Mucilaginibacter gotjawali SA3-7T (95.7%). The G+C content of the genomic DNA was 45.1%. The predominant respiratory quinone was MK-7 and the major fatty acids were summed feature 3 (comprising C16:1 ω6c and/or C16:1 ω7c), iso-C15:0 and anteiso-C15:0. The major polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylethanolamine. Strain BR5- 28T was differentiated genotypically and phenotypically from the recognized species of the genus Mucilaginibacter. The isolate therefore represents a novel species, for which the name Mucilaginibacter hankyongensis sp. nov. is proposed, with the type strain BR5-28T (=KCTC 22274T =DSM 21151T).

Here we describe indigenous prokaryotic species in Korea, a total of 42 bacterial strains affiliated to the class Alphaproteobacteria isolated from various environmental samples: fermented vinegar, sea water, beach sand, fresh water, salt flats, moss, algae, activated sludge, and soil. From the high 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity (>98.7%) and formation of a robust phylogenetic clade with the closest species, it was determined that each strain belonged to predefined bacterial species. There is no official report that these 42 species included in Alphaproteobacteria in Korea: 15 species of 6 genera in the order Rhodospirillales, 12 species of 10 genera in the order Rhizobiales, 10 species of 8 genera in the order Rhodobacterales, 4 species of 4 genera in the order Sphingomonadales and 1 species of 1 genus in the order Caulobacterales. Gram reaction, colony and cell morphology, basic biochemical characteristics, isolation source, and strain IDs are also described in the species description section.
Differences in the Transference of Humor and Personification in Advertisement Translation
Ying Cui,Qingmei Wang 세종대학교 언어연구소 2010 Journal of Universal Language Vol.11 No.2
This study analyses the transference of humor in translating advertising texts and, based on research in a prior study, proposes that the transference of humor is quite flexible in the practice of advertisement translation. The humorous expressions in original texts may be faithfully translated, or deleted, or in some cases humor may be added in translated texts. Compared with such flexible ways of dealing with humor, the translation of personify-cation in our corpus is relatively more faithful. In this paper, we are trying to figure out the implications behind the difference in terms of the treatment of humor and personification in advertisement translation. Similar to the former study, here we will also take the presupposition perspective. When the personification is reproduced faithfully in translations, it can be inferred that translators’ presuppositions about the target audience’s potential perception are the same with those held by the original writers about their targeted readers. This point in turn implies that the original and target cultures are correspondent in those aspects. Similarly, the unfaithful or flexible treatment of humor implies the opposite. In our research we mainly focus on translation between Chinese and English

Magnetic Ni0.7Co0.3Fe2O4 nanoparticles that were prepared via the rapid combustion process were functionalized and modified to obtain magnetic Ni0.7Co0.3Fe2O4@SiO2-CHO nanocomposites, on which penicillin G acylase (PGA) was covalently immobilized. Selections of immobilization concentration and time of fixation were explored. Catalytic performance of immobilized PGA was characterized. The free PGA had greatest activity at pH 8.0 and 45 ℃ while immobilized PGA’s a ctivities p eaked at p H 7.5 and 4 5 ℃. Immobilized PGA had better thermal stability than free PGA at the range of 30-50 ℃ for different time intervals. The activity of free PGA would be 0 and that of immobilized PGA still retained some activities at 60 ℃ after 2 h. Vmax and Km of immobilized PGA were 1.55 mol/min and 0.15 mol/l, respectively. Free PGA’s Vmax and Km separately were 0.74 mol/min and 0.028 mol/l. Immobilized PGA displayed more than 50% activity after 10 successive cycles. We concluded that immobilized PGA with magnetic Ni0.7Co0.3Fe2O4@SiO2-CHO nanocomposites could become a novel example for the immobilization of other amidohydrolases.

Ethyl (S)-3-hydroxy-3-phenylpropionate was synthesized by asymmetric reduction of 3-oxo-3-phenylpropionic acid ethyl ester with undifferentiated cells of white turnip in phosphate buffer/organic solvent. The conversion increased with the LogP_oct of organic solvent increase. The phosphate buffer (0.2 mol/L, pH 7.0)/dodecane was selected as optimum medium for reduction. The optimal content of dodecane in medium is 10% (v). The conversion decreased with initial substrate concentration increase. Addition of more biomass of plant cells and 10% ethanol as co-substrate can improve conversion. The plant cells can be reused well for three times. The enantiomeric excess of ethyl (S)-3-hydroxy-3-phenylpropionate reached 100% with 1% allyl bromide as inhibitor.
Mediated Moderation Analysis in the Nexus of Investment in Human Capital and the Green Economy
Lijiang Wang,UTAI UPRASEN,Qingmei Li 한국무역연구원 2023 무역연구 Vol.19 No.3
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to analyze the mediated moderation role of foreign direct investment inflows (FDI), along with technological innovation (TI), in the relationship between investment in human capital (IHC) and the green economy, which is often ignored in current literature. Design/Methodology/Approach – In order to estimate the mediated moderating effect of TI and FDI on the nexus of IHC and the green economy, we use principle component analysis (PCA) to create a green economy index (GEI) by first selecting 15 relevant variables. Furtherly, the data analyzed covers 33 OECD nations from 2005 to 2018 using a Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) model. Findings – This paper demonstrates that while FDI positively moderates the relationship between IHC and the green economy, the positive role of FDI can be hindered by TI as a mediating variable in OECD countries. The empirical result reveals a U-shaped association between IHC and the green economy. Moreover, we also explain the joint effect of FDI and IHC on TI in OECD countries. FDI shows a negative role in the impact of IHC on TI. Research Implications – This paper puts forward dialectical thinking to view the impact of human capital investment on the green economy, and suggests that governments should view role of IHC in the green economy dialectically, plus adequately utilize its promotional role to address associated risks. The findings can support decision makers in how to use IHC precisely to achieve the goal of sustainable development.
