Qiao, H.,Guo, X.Q.,Hong, S.G.,Wu, P.D. Elsevier 2017 Journal of alloys and compounds Vol.725 No.-
<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The deformation characteristics of rolled Mg alloy AZ31, which was previously compressed along the rolling direction and then re-compressed along the transverse direction, have been numerically investigated. Secondary/double twinning is allowed in the current EVPSC-TDT model, and {10-12}-{10-12} secondary twinning is found to play an important role in reproducing the experimental data. The deformation behavior of the pre-compressed materials associated with primary and secondary twining has been interpreted in terms of the predicted activities, twin volume fractions and texture evolutions. The {10-12}-{10-12} secondary twinning in the previously twinned region is most active for the 9% pre-compressed material while primary twinning within the residual un-twinned domain dominates twinning behavior for the 3% pre-compressed material.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> The EVPSC model is first extended to simulate the {10-12}-{10-12} twinning. </LI> <LI> The deformation behavior of the pre-compressed materials has been interpreted. </LI> <LI> {10-12}-{10-12} twinning plays a key role in reproducing the experimental data. </LI> </UL> </P>

Background: This study was aimed to investigate the genetic diversity and antibiotic resistance profile of the nosocomial infection agent Acinetobacter baumannii from a medical intensive care unit (ICU) in a teaching hospital in Suzhou, China. Methods: The genetic relationship among A. baumannii isolates in an ICU was investigated using multilocus sequence typing (MLST). The antibiotic resistance pattern was determined by performing an antibiotic susceptible test, which included an agar dilution method and an E-test method. Resistant determinants, e.g., carbapenemase genes, metallo-β- lactamases, and class 1 integron, were analyzed by specific PCR and DNA sequencing. Results: In the present study, 33 non-duplicate isolates were identified as 5 existing sequence types (STs) (ST92, ST75, ST112, ST145, and ST345) and 1 new sequence type STn, which has a G-A mutation at nt268 on ropD40 of ST251. These results reveal limited diversity in carbapenem non-susceptible A. baumannii (CNSAb) isolates in our ICU, which are comprised of only 2 distinct STs, with ST92 and ST75 clustering into a clonal complex (CC) 92. Most CNSAb isolates (94.4%, 17/18) harbored the OXA-23 gene, while no carbapenem-susceptible A. baumannii (CSAb) isolates harbored it. In addition, 66.7% (22/33) isolates were positive for class 1 integrase, and gene cassette analysis showed there are 3 gene arrays among them, i.e., aacA4-catB8-aadA1 (77.3%, 17/22), aacA4 (22.7%, 5/22), and aacC1-orfX-orfX’-aadA1 (4.5%, 1/22). Conclusions: When all these data are combined, the antibiotic resistance and wide distribution of CNSAb isolates in our ICU are probably caused by expansion of the CC92 clone. Long Non-coding RNA GAS5 Functions as a Tumor Suppressor in Renal Cell Carcinoma
Qiao, Hui-Ping,Gao, Wei-Shi,Huo, Jian-Xin,Yang, Zhan-Shan Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.2
Background: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a malignancy with a poor prognosis. We aimed to explore whether the expression of Long Non-Coding RNA (LncRNA) growth arrest-specific transcript 5 (GAS5) is associated with RCC genesis. Methods: We selected twelve clinical samples diagnosed for renal clear cell carcinoma and found that the LncRNA GAS5 transcript levels were significantly reduced relative to those in adjacent unaffected normal renal tissues. Results: In addition, expression of GAS5 was lower in the RCC cell line A498 than that in normal renal cell line HK-2. Furthermore, using functional expression cloning, we found that overexpression of GAS5 in A498 cells inhibited cell proliferation, induced cell apoptosis and arrested cell cycling. At the same time, the migration and invasion potential of A498 cells were inhibited compared to control groups. Conclusion: Our study provided the first evidence that a decrease in GAS5 expression is associated with RCC genesis and progression and overexpression of GAS5 can act as a tumor suppressor for RCC, providing a potential attractive therapeutic approach for this malignancy.

Qiao Yanni,Yao Jinge,Ki-Hyung Bae 한국콘텐츠학회 2021 International Journal of Contents Vol.17 No.3
The purpose of this paper is to explore how the Confucius Institute Chinese international promotion could better promote the development of Chinas foreign trade, by analyzing the distribution of the Confucius Institute worldwide, based on the theory of language economics, using SWOT analysis to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the internal environment, opportunities and challenges of the external environment of Chinese international promotion of Confucius Institute. The following findings were gathered: as a language teaching institution and information exchange platform, Confucius Institute has the ability to share trade information and increase trade opportunities; to improve cultural identity and reduce transaction costs; to promote cultural communication and integration, and drive the development of related industries. The internal disadvantages were mainly reflected in the mismatch between the global regional distribution structure of Confucius Institutes, and the economic and trade structure, such as, the asymmetry between language, culture output, and demand. In addition, the management mechanism was not perfect. External opportunities were mainly new opportunities brought by economic globalization, cultural diversity, and the development of the Belt and Road initiative. External challenges were mainly influenced by the China threat theory and the fierce cultural competition among countries. The corresponding countermeasures were put forward based on the advantages of the platform and grasping the external opportunities: improving the quality of operation and speeding up the localization process; respecting cultural differences and realizing cultural common learning; seeking multilateral cooperation and enhancing the capacity for independent development.

The objective of this study was to determine the optimum ratio of methionine to methionine plus cystine for growing pigs. A nitrogen balance trial was conducted using a total of 21 barrows (Large WhiteLandrace) over two replicates. The initial body weight was $20.36{\pm}1.22kg$ (mean${\pm}$SD) in the first replicate and $23.54{\pm}1.02kg$ (mean${\pm}$SD) in the second. For each replicate, the 21 pigs were randomly assigned to one of seven dietary treatments with three observations per treatment. The diets included a methionine and cystine-deficient basal diet with all other essential nutrients meeting nutrient requirements and six diets formulated with graded levels of DL-methionine (0.00, 0.03, 0.06, 0.10, 0.13, 0.16%) and $L-Cystine{\cdot}HCl{\cdot}H_2O$ (0.19, 0.15, 0.11, 0.07, 0.04, 0.00%). This resulted in ratios of methionine to methionine plus cystine of 41.3, 29.6, 35.3, 41.2, 46.0, 51.6 and 57.5%. Each experimental period lasted 12 days consisting of a seven-day adaptation period followed by a five-day total collection of urine and feces. During the collection period, pigs were fed 900 g/day for the first replicate and 1,200 g/day for the second replicate. The feed was provided in three equal portions at 0800, 1500, and 2200 h daily. Pigs had ad libitum access to water after feeding. There was a linear (p<0.01) and quadratic (p<0.01) effect on daily gain and feed conversion as the ratio of methionine to methionine plus cystine increased. Pigs receiving the diets providing a methionine to methionine plus cystine ratio of 51.6% had the best daily gain and feed conversion. Plasma urea nitrogen was also lowest for this treatment. Nitrogen retention increased (p<0.01) as the relative proportion of methionine increased up to 51.6% and then a downward trend occurred at 57.5%. The quadratic regression model, as well as one- and two- slope regression line models, were used to determine the optimum ratio of methionine to methionine plus cystine. Eliminating the 35.3% methionine to methionine plus cystine treatment resulted in $R^2$ values in excess of 0.92. The optimal ratio of methionine to methionine plus cystine was estimated to be 54.15% for nitrogen retention and 56.72% for plasma urea nitrogen.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Our previous study demonstrated that Pacific white shrimp (<I>Litopenaeus vannamei</I>) infected by multiple pathogens showed higher mortality and death occurred more quickly than those infected by a single pathogen (Jang et?al., 2014). For better understanding the defense mechanism against white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) and <I>Vibrio anguillarum</I>, immune responses of shrimp were evaluated in this study. The mRNA expression levels of five immune-related genes were analyzed by quantitative reverse real-time PCR, which included proPO-activating enzyme 1 (PPAE1), PPAE2, proPO activating factor (PPAF), masquerade-like serine proteinase (Mas) and ras-related nuclear gene (Ran). Results demonstrated that the transcription was suppressed more intensively in the multiple infection group than those in single infection groups. The transcriptional suppression was directly related to the higher mortality. The hypoimmunity could benefit pathogen invasion, replication and release of toxin <I>in?vivo</I>. Results in this study will help to understand immune defense mechanism after shrimp were infected by multiple pathogens in aquaculture.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Immune genes in shrimp were studied to understand defense mechanism against multiple pathogens. </LI> <LI> Shrimp infected by multiple pathogens showed higher mortality and death occurred more quickly. </LI> <LI> Gene transcription was suppressed in shrimp with multiple infections than single infection. </LI> <LI> Depression of immune genes resulted in low PO activity, phagocytosis and led to high mortality. </LI> <LI> Prevention and management strategies are needed to reduce shrimp losses by multiple pathogens. </LI> </UL> </P>
Lamb wave-based damage imaging method for damage detection of rectangular composite plates
Qiao, Pizhong,Fan, Wei Techno-Press 2014 Structural monitoring and maintenance Vol.1 No.4
A relatively low frequency Lamb wave-based damage identification method called damage imaging method for rectangular composite plate is presented. A damage index (DI) is generated from the delay matrix of the Lamb wave response signals, and it is used to indicate the location and approximate area of the damage. The viability of this method is demonstrated by analyzing the numerical and experimental Lamb wave response signals from rectangular composite plates. The technique only requires the response signals from the plate after damage, and it is capable of performing near real time damage identification. This study sheds some light on the application of Lamb wave-based damage detection algorithm for plate-type structures by using the relatively low frequency (e.g., in the neighborhood of 100 kHz, more suitable for the best capability of the existing fiber optic sensor interrogator system with the sampling frequency of 500 kHz) Lamb wave response and a reference-free damage detection technique.
