This study focuses on the influence of the resultant force caused by the density difference of the twophases on the droplet generation process in a step-emulsification microfluidic device. Threedimensionalvisualization is used to observe the characteristics of droplet generation. According to thedifference in droplet generation form, it can be divided into drip generation mode and suspended generationmode. In the suspended generation mode, the droplets are more inclined to the formation process ofthe expansion of the ellipsoid, whose size in the horizontal direction is larger than the vertical direction;while in the drip generation mode, the shape of the droplet is opposite. The control stage of the dropletgeneration under various operating conditions is determined. As the viscosity of the dispersed phaseincreases, the control stage of the suspended generation mode is the necking stage, and the control stageof the drip generation mode changes from the first stage of three-dimensional expansion to the neckingstage. The model of the droplet generation is proposed by combining mechanical analysis and experimentaltesting data, and the droplet size prediction formula is thereby obtained.
TiO2 nanotube-supported V2O5 catalysts for selective NO reduction by NH3

TiO2 nanotubes (TNT) were prepared by hydrothermal method at 140 oC for 23 h. The V2O5/TNT (VTNT)catalysts were obtained by impregnation in NH4VO3 solution. The VTNTs exhibited much higher denitration efficiency than those supported on the raw TiO2, and satisfactory resistance to water and sulfur. Results from BET, TEM, XRD,NH3-TPD and EPR verified that V2O5 was dispersed well on TNT, thus favoring NH3 adsorption, promoting the transformation from V5+ to V4+, conducing to the formation of oxygen vacancies and superoxide radicals in the presence of NH3 and O2, and then resulting in the high catalytic activity of VTNTs.
Modeling of ammonia-based wet flue gas desulfurization in the spray scrubber

A mathematical model of ammonia-based wet flue gas desulfurization process was developed based on the double film theory. The calculated results of the desulfurization system for two 220 t·h^−1 boilers per unit by this model were compared to that of corresponding measured data. It was found that the calculated results agree well with the measured data for the operating conditions of pH, liquid/gas ratio and SO_2 concentration. This model can provide predictions of the absorption performance of an ammonia-based wet flue gas desulfurization process and appears to be helpful for designing scrubbers for SO_2 absorption with ammonia absorbent.
