Scheduled-Stepsize NLMS Algorithm
Poogyeon Park,Moonsoo Chang,Namwoong Kong IEEE 2009 IEEE signal processing letters Vol.16 No.12

This paper presents a method of scheduling stepsizes for the normalized least-mean-squares (SS-NLMS) algorithm. Geometrically interpreting the mean square deviation (MSD) learning curve leads to establishing an objective curve and to constructing a lookup table of stepsizes in order for the MSD to follow the curve. The SS-NLMS shows not only good performance but also robustness with respect to different signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in measurement noise and different correlation in input signals with a very small number of online computations. Moreover, the scalability of the tabled stepsize with respect to the number of taps is described. For the efficient memory usage in practice, a modified version replaces the tabled stepsizes by down-sampled stepsizes with no performance degradation.

Mean-Square Deviation Analysis of Affine Projection Algorithm
PooGyeon Park,Chang Hee Lee,Jeong Wan Ko IEEE 2011 IEEE transactions on signal processing Vol.59 No.12

This paper presents an improved mean-square deviation (MSD) analysis of the standard affine projection algorithm (APA) based on two distinctive features. First, the propagation model of the error covariance includes the cross-correlation between the current weight error vector and the prior measurement noises associated with the reused inputs; such a cross-correlation has merely been considered previously. Second, the analysis based on n most recent accumulated iterations, rather than a typical analysis based on a current single iteration, is suggested to reveal a previously unseen phenomenon, where n denotes the tap-length of the filter. Simulation results are in better agreement with the proposed theoretical results, than the previous theoretical ones, over a wide range of parameters such as tap-length, projection order, and step-size.

This article surveys the control theoretic study on time delay systems. Since time delay systems are infinite dimensional, there are not analytic but numerical solutions on almost analysis and synthesis problems, which implies that there are a tremendous number of approximated solutions. To show how to find such solutions, several results are summarized in terms of two different axes: 1) theoretic tools like integral inequality associated with the derivative of delay terms, Jensen inequality, lower bound lemma for reciprocal convexity, and Wirtinger-based inequality and 2) various candidates for Laypunov-Krasovskii functionals.
